Today, January 16th is my birthday and this morning I was gifted this amazing view of A Spotted Eagle Ray in the canal where I keep Pooh Bear. I see them often was this was up close and personal!

On Sunday January 12th, I did an all day sail from Sunrise to Sunset....almost (8am-5:30pm). I have to time my entrance in and out of the canal where I live on Grand Bahama so I don't hit bottom. I left at 2 hours after high tide and returned 2 hours before the second high tide and there was only about 6" of clearance between the bottom of the canal and Pooh Bear's keel. Although I love my wooden nesting dinghy Scaphi, I wanted an inflatable raft that I could assemble on the foredeck of Pooh Bear and that was capable of getting up on plane. The West Marine PHP 275 fits the bill perfectly. I still plan to use Scaphi as my primary tender but like having a high speed backup with an alternative powerplant. Now she needs a name...

I just returned from a trip out to Old Bahama Bay from Freeport, Grand Bahama. I'm working on a full video of the entire trip including a Stingray Experience Tour with some friends but here's a preview of the sweet beam reach on my way out to West End.

This video highlights a sail I did aboard Pooh Bear, my Westsail 32, from Freeport to Old Bahama Bay, Grand Bahama in April 2024. It's the 1st narrated video I've done in about a year. We (me and Mr. Wilson) stayed at the marina for a week and enjoyed the amenities at the resort. The sail back got a little spicey and the whole trip turned out to be a memorable adventure. There was a beautiful Spotted Eagle Ray swimming around my boat, Pooh Bear, this weekend. Here are some pics and 2 videos of it as it appears to be flying through the clouds....kind of. It was an exciting few minutes and I hope you enjoy.

After a few weeks off, I got Pooh Bear out for a couple of hours on Saturday, March 16th. The winds were moderate (10 kts) but the waves had the boat bouncing around a bit - Wilson didn't seem to mind!

This video is from January 20th, 2024 off the southern coast of Grand Bahama - my playground. The winds were averaging about 14-15 kts and at one point Pooh Bear hit 6 kts SOG. A good day for sailing!

I got Pooh Bear out for the first sail of the year and practiced heaving to for the first time. Every time you take a boat out, you learn something new.

I got Pooh Bear out this weekend for a fun sail along the south coast of Grand Bahama. The winds were 12-15 kts and I was averaging about 5 kts SOG although I got over 6 a couple of times. I'm finally getting a little more comfortable sailing Pooh, so I decided to take my dog, Wilson out on this sail - he seemed happy to be back on "his" yacht! All is well.
