I remember escalators like that in the old Simpson's (now The Bay) store in Toronto. There were even older ones in the Eaton's annex store, which were little more than sloped strips of wood.

I saw those escalators too, and I'm curious how you found the model name. I always assumed they were a rare 2000s variant of Tugela.

That squeaking noise is common on E3Cs, it’s actually coming from the handrails. Many I’ve filmed have that squeak. 🙂

I like the rounded balustrades.

Escal-Aire logo is the most interesting logo on escalator landing plates.

I really like how the logos face in the direction your going. I noticed they did that too for their older escalators with Mitsubishi logos on them. Maybe it's because these are brand new, or because they're Mitsubishi but I've never seen escalators that sound this smooth!

If those are the ones right outside Whole Foods - the last time I saw them running was about 2 years ago.

Installed in 1998. Before that this used to be Frederick & Nelson’s flagship store with vintage Otis Escalators from the basement all the way up to the ninth floor.

These are quite common in some European countries- especially Spain. Lots of this style on the Madrid and Barcelona metros - most with glass balustrades though… Personally I think it’s quite an ugly, bulky design and the normal Tugela / Victoria ones were far nicer to look at. But at least it’s some variety. 😅 There are a few in England too, and a couple of travelators dotted around like it as well. Will film if I visit any places with them… 🙂

These are replaced. They replaced the older OTIS’s

Replaced some 1988 Montgomery C2000 Glass Escalators in 2021.

Installed in 2012 when Nordstrom Rack moved from their location on Second Avenue.

apparently this place replaced this elevator into a rare shindler 3300xl with rare 5500 screen floor indicator

It seems like they are only replacing the escalators that needed to be replaced. Although I would rather keep them original even if they had problems.

Holy Shit The Backrooms?

They almost look like Montgomery escalators due to the bottom ends where the belt goes in.
