3.3 Phase changes and energy
Просмотров 117Год назад
Identify the different phase changes including sublimation and deposition (CO2 and I2) Describe the energy changes as endothermic or exothermic and changes in entropy Describe what is happening in terms of attractive forces during phase changes.
3.4 Heating and Cooling Curves
Просмотров 260Год назад
Interpret heating and cooling curves and identify what changes are occuring in atomic arrangement as well as kinetic and potential energy at the various locations on the curves. Use heating/cooling curves to identify the freezing/melting and boiling points. Explain why it generally takes more energy to boil a substance than to melt it.
3.5 Calorimetry of Phase Changes
Просмотров 55Год назад
Quantify changes in energy using calorimetry Calculate the changes in energy for heating substances as well as the heat changes associated with changes in phase.

    Why is energy quantised though? I got it is quantised, but why?

    • @donochem1816
      @donochem1816 5 месяцев назад

      Why does E=mc^2 and not ^3? I have no idea haha. I think that might be one of the unanswerable questions, but I could be wrong.

    • @Neo34014
      @Neo34014 5 месяцев назад

      @@donochem1816 Actually, this question was asked to me by my professor and I’ve searched whole internet to find the answer but can’t find it. I don’t know if there’s an answer but I think it is related to somewhat derivation of plank’s constant as it is the base of quantisation. It’d be really great if you could help because I’m really not smart

    • @donochem1816
      @donochem1816 5 месяцев назад

      @@Neo34014 I feel like that comes back to the original question though. Energy is quantized because Plancks constant is, but why is that? One fun hypothesis that I don't actually subscribe to but think is fun, is that because we live in a computer simulation where everything is 1 or 0, so everything is quantized. Outlandish, but fun to think about. That being said, I don't know a whole lot about how Plancks constant was determined.

    • @Neo34014
      @Neo34014 5 месяцев назад

      @@donochem1816 thanks that’s helpful really, I don’t know how planck’s constant is derived theoretically, but as much as I know, it’s derived somewhat from E=mc^2. And yeah the simulation theory is interesting because there’s no way we can say anything against or in favour of it. I’ll consider that before saying. Also the original question I was asked, was, “why are photons quantised” but I pretty much think it’s same question as energy. But would like your thoughts on it if it is different
