Carol and Chris Aponte made the leap to retire early and move to Boquete Panama. Join the Aponte's as they move to a new country and a new country and all that goes with this adventure.
We took a Cooking Class in Medellin, Colombia with Chef Brian Johnston. We cooked a thai style
Chef Brian hosts cooking classes in his home specifically built for the classes. He also teaches Colombians how to cook and eat healthy. He host different groups for that purpose. We visited Comuna Trece with a guide who shared the history of the area. It was a moving experience to see how a community can be transformed and people can be given opportunity to improve their lives. This was a great experience for us.

Our family sent us a picture of them shoveling snow and ice from their driveway. We are 72 degrees here with a nice breeze....only 40 degrees Fahrenheit warmer! Wish you were here!

The end of my career in Fire and EMS. It's been a long run. I never saw this being my career. I have been blessed with a good retirement and I am now enjoying the warm weather and kind people here in Panama. It's funny, I sometimes forget how old I am. Then I look in the mirror and reality hits!

We went to the Christmas Tree lighting in downtown. The gentleman and his daughter at the end is Bicencio and his daughter Aidalyn. He is a friend we have made and does work on the property where we stay. Also, that is a youth orchestra playing music so be kind.

Panama celebrates their independence from Spain in 1821 after 300 years of Spanish rule. Groups from all over Panama come to Boquete for this annual parade. We were told it went from around 7 a.m. until after 2 a.m.

Y'all are in one of my favourite places to live in Boquete. The other side over in Bajo Mono is pretty wonderful as well, with great views of the Volcano. Loving the channel guys, makes me feel blessed to live here seeing it through other poeple's eyes 😁

Enjoyed the coverage of the cars. How do you find car ownership there? Insurance and fuel? What kind of pricing for new Land Cruiser/GX 4 x 4?
Sorry it took so long to see your question....we had a representative here who helped us purchase the car. Otherwise it would have been a pain. Fuel cost is equal. Insurance is almost half the cost in the U.S. The Toyota Fortuner and Prado diesel 4x4s are expensive here...sought after and they retain their value.

Carol said we need horseradish sauce. BTW, when doing the banana, put the honey on first then the cinnamon. I took a breath eating a banana and inhaled cinnamon powder!
ahh yes, and now the rains! awesome spot you folks got; the rainbows come dry seasons should be cool. the screamers are yellow headed caracaras, I feed a mating pair here everyday and they're about to cut loose the third batch of kids in three years.
That's the bird, yellow headed caracaras....or as Carol has named our resident....."Screech"

We stayed in a house in Alto Jaramillo for the first week of August. We loved it up there as well. We are going to Bocas at some point....looks like you have been there. We could probably use some guidance. Carol has a FB
