I've got a similar play style. :)
So for some context at 24:36, Jiyan starts talking to a soldier, but the soldier is only an illusion from the past conjured by the retroact rain, thus the echoey voice. The soldier isn't actually talking to Jiyan, but the general at that time, Geshu Lin. That's why the soldier was talking about a medic named Jiyan, because when Geshu Lin was the general, Jiyan was a medic on the force. He still carries the gourd on his hip full of medicine. Also, heck ya, ORV is great!

oh really? i went over the ring and interacted with it but nothing happened hm. maybe i'll visit it once again after completing an entire run through of the game!
@@kitsonae theres an obscure quest you should do before you enter the fairy ring, or it'll just end up in a dead end. if you dont use a guide, its too convoluted to be worth trying, though going in yields the best character ever <3
