I agree that 2011’s dominate the sport. Congratulations. I said 1911’s, not 2011’s. If they are the same thing then why don’t high level shooters and yourself compete with a 1911? I personally have shot both a bunch and I respectfully disagree. Not the same gun… different recoil impulse, speed of the slide reciprocating, feel of the trigger, weight of the gun. All the shoot ability pro’s are better with the 2011. If they were the same gun then why is the 1911 out the back door. Respectfully. JJ.

It conversely is also the thing that might stop the gun from being shot in a critical, stressful moment. It rakes experience for a user to operate the safety. Insteam of the safety, lets get users training, thats the ultimate safety. Drill drawing and disengaging the safety with snap caps. Drill until its myscle memory before using a pistol wiyu a safety. Otherwise drill trigger doscipline when drawing if you have a Glock.

Im no where close to gm. Shoot live couple times a month, like 300-400 rounds. Dry fire every day. I think where I started making real progress is when I live fired, i become processed based over outcome. Analyzing what I was doing and through listening to podcast and full class dumps on RUclips, I knew what to look for, and how to start correcting it. Being mindful. And repping it out. I used to bang my head against a wall repping bill drills, I guess just hoping they would all go in and just racing the timer. Instead of being mindful of what the fuck ibwas doing. I'll also add, Scott's videos helped me when I first started ie, the claw grip was where i first heard about it. Techniques on how to do a reload, where your thumb hits the mag. Donavan was the first time I heard point your support hand down when clearing the garment. A shit ton of other people. I've pulled from everyone and everywhere.

I've been saying this for a long time. Unless you're a high level USPSA shooter, the majority of the people who practice in the sport at a low to mid level (so basically almost everyone) is mostly bullet hosing every other shot. And most cops are not training to even reach A class, they're there to learn and get better, so their heart is in the right place, but the sport itself really does egg you on to bullet hose since being slow is what will give you a bad score. Bullet hosing IS how you slowly get better, but how many people stick with USPSA to the point they rank to the higher classes? Being fast AND accurate is what creates M and GM level shooters. But very few cops, let alone the average dude, is going to shoot at that level. Maybe IDPA does have the more practical pace for gunfighting from the perspective of someone who cares about collateral damage, given how penalized you'll be for hitting outside the vitals.

I don’t think I disagree… I think people really need to reflect on what they actually want out of it. Obviously, that sort of introspection takes a bit of time to develop… I.E. in the beginning so much time is spent developing basics and absorbing the lessons from the instructors. I’d be happy if cops would at least get out, have fun and keep pushing to develop those skills, be it IDPA or USPSA.
