    This is a rather rational analysis of the educational process. One of the problems I see with the weed-out mentality in professional education is that it conflates surviving the weed-out classes which are often arbitrarily difficult with professional competency and quality.

    A very bad experience as a production company. I was working with them on the production side. The requirements are very high and in order to get an order you have to bid with a very low price which does not bring you who knows what profit. Besides that, after you send the parts, you get a message after a month that the parts were not ok and you have to prepare a document to work on the grid in the following orders. If they make mistakes in the files, they try to make you guilty. In the end, the company that produces the parts comes out with a bad image. If you ask for the parts back, you have to pay the shipping again. Finally, we do not recommend companies to collaborate with this company that only outsources work, they do not produce anything.

    Hello. It would be great if you republish this content with a better audio, a better chart colors show (considering the colorblind), more research details, and using AI video editor with images related to the described scenarios. I work with project/engineering documentation since 2008 and to raise awareness among superiors about this problem was always difficult. Important also to share the full study and references.

    The weed-out class is really a way to "bait and switch" students into low value majors. Young people get accepted into say a computer science program that almost guarantees an upper-middle class income. They are now willing to shell out thousands in tuition and take on student loans. Of course, a computer science program is far more expensive to run than say art history. Also, that art history department needs a study flow of students. Note that the art history program does not have any weed-out classes. The college has a powerful economic motive to push students from high value into low value degree programs. After 30% or so of the computer science students are crushed by the weed-out class, they will switch majors instead of leaving the college. They already invested at least a year at the school and their poor performance in the weed-out class makes them believe they are not cut out to be programmers. Also, if they quit they are still forced to pay back the loans for an education that the college knew they would not get. This is truly evil.

    "manufacturing bureau" what they really mean is "manufacturing broker"? Does Xometry have any machine tools, processes or engineers? NO Well gosh; what do they have then? Just some software which they are calling "AI powered market place for building big ideas" But really everyone else would call this just marketing BS for a "search engine". All we have here is just another "clever start up" that is attempting to LEVERAGE THE SERVICE OF OTHER COMPANIES and then claim to be an innovator. If you want manufacturing processes; GO TO THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY DO THE WORK!

    Unfortunatelly machining that parts is not just geometry, quoting is a strategy and experience dependent job, and current algorithims over quote the parts to elimenates un calculated costs . So it is not trusted to out just put model to an algorithm .

  • @tomasobamela
    @tomasobamela 3 года назад

    Listen I don't know you . But either you work for Xometry or they are paying you to promote them . Xometry is just a middle man . They do not vet the shops that they contract. My company uses them . I as a machinist have to rework most of their work because the parts are not to print and because there is no time to do a " RTV or a return to vendor " . We make parts for the rovers on Mars . So we have launch commitments . So I have asked our engineers to vet local machine shops in our area so we can better control the processes and keep to our schedule rather than use Xometry. Unfortunately our machine shop is too small to keep up with the rework influx caused by Xomemtry and 5hier in adequate pricing and delivery.

    • @wannabecarguy
      @wannabecarguy 2 года назад

      Seems pretty standard with any situation. Even after you vet a shop, they still need to understand the function of the part or finish requirements. Or other things that didn't get on the drawing.

    No. its hardly going to impact engineering at all. traditional methods are cheap and well established/documented. As long as there are people who just care about money, its never going to happen in the industry. As long as there is a CEO who has his 'vision' with no background in the kind of work hes direction (aka an Intel CEO that has a background in accounting instead of electrical engineering/computer science
