Back when I was suicidal (dw I'm not anymore), I really wish I would've heard this song. I didn't really see any experiences similar to mine then - *I* didn't want to die, but I wanted my body to, gruesomely so - which contributed even more to my isolation. This song makes me feel very seen however, even now. Just generally, I wish I'd discovered Will Wood's music earlier :D

I like the lyrics… but the music is too chaotic for my tastes. He took the concept of Laplace’s Demon and tied it in to the age old debate regarding fate and free will. There’s a certain truth to the concept which is logically sound… even from a religious perspective there’s a frightening truth to it. If everything that exists is a product of the natural processes that have been put into motion since the dawn of time then every choice we make is subject to this and every bad thing we do is just a product of fate which was already decided since the beginning. If you are religious and you prescribe to the notion of free will rather than destiny then you should ask yourself this… if God is all knowing and omniscient then he knew every bad thing people would do long before man was created. For christianity, before he created Eden and put humans in the garden he knew we would fall to temptation. He knew that snake would tempt us and we would accept sin. And just as he punished all snakes for their role (even though it was his angel that possessed the snake which instigated the whole thing) he punished the entirety of humanity… it would also suggest that he knew everything that would happen afterwards (though you wouldn’t think so considering his actions). Be it fate or the illusion of ‘free will’ perhaps nothing was ever truly up to us. If we were born with a better environment with a better body, mind and soul then perhaps we too would have been better. 🤔 Or at least that is the sort of meaning I extrapolated from this.
