Exactly can’t go any lower at this point so gotta look up and start climbing at this point and that’s exactly what I intend on doing
Id stay a company driver for now until you saved up at least 20k because I'd be scared that cat would need a overhaul and that's at least 30k but that's just my opinion
Yeah that’s sounds more like a better option honestly. Maybe need to find another company though. Wife and I have talked about possibly staying company and running w2 income

Check out mag carriers in Georgia 90% I think they give u have of ur money up front then the other half when u deliver or TRC transport outta Chattanooga,Tn they pay 88% if u decide to go over the road u can load urself or they will dispatch you

Are you a mechanic if so why don’t you do weekend work doing that! There’s a lot of people that are needing weekend maintenance - You could do that with a small amount cost if you do labor , do diagnostic work etc and they supply parts- many people don’t want to get dirty .

Another place you can check out is TRC Freight, they’re based out of the Chattanooga area but they’re similar to LandStar but they use DAT and they just opened a facility in Oklahoma City. Good luck in your ventures

I sure do appreciate the love and support. It sure isn’t easy doing what we do out here but we choose that career because it isn’t just a job. We live for trucks. Trucking is probably one of the only career that can also be a hobby if you’re into it. It’s also can be a nightmare to the ones that don’t do it right or don’t understand it. To some it is just a job to make a paycheck . To some of us it is life choice. I wouldn’t want it any other way. We don’t get the respect we deserve but that’s when you will either find out if you’re up for it or not

Fair enough. Suicide is when the coil is loaded with the hole pointing to the sides of trailer. Shotgun is when they load the coil with the hole pointing to the front and rear of truck and of course the way you got loaded. Eye in the sky.

Random question, how do you know when to use chains or straps only for these type of loads?
I usually go by the weight of the Load and the type of load it is. Easier way to find out is if you see other drivers there. Watch them secure theirs or go ask them. We help each other out. Eventually you will know. Also some load have hook points for chains that’ll usually means it can take chains or should. Anything with wheels on it will most likely need chains rather than straps.
