It was obviously not a suffer fest. Looks like you had a good time. Thanks for posting your trip.
Yes, it was great! Thanks for watching!
In Anderson Pass getting ready to head to the summit, your dad looked like he was suffering. That's okay though. I've been in Anderson Pass getting ready to go to the summit and I was suffering each and every time.
Haha yeah that climb up to Anderson pass was brutal with the packs. I hear that, definitely a place for suffering!
Awesome! Thanks for posting. Will people backpack in, camp near the base, and then hike up the next day? Wondering if I can/should make this a multi-day backpacking trip. Is there a water source near the base of the peak that would be a good camping spot?
Thanks for watching! Yes, a lot of people will make this a two day trip from Henry's Fork Trailhead. There are a couple lakes you can camp at before going up Gunsight Pass. A popular place to camp is Dollar Lake. From there you'll be just over 5 miles to the summit if you take the shortcut after Gunsight. There isn't much water up over Gunsight Pass. Dollar Lake and the other lakes below Gunsight are the typical places to camp before doing Kings the next morning.
@@takeahike4861 - Super helpful. Thank you! Love your content.
What month was this filmed? Trying to gauge how much snow might be up there right now.
@neilb505 Sorry for the late reply! This was filmed in January. When you asked the question there probably wouldn't have been any snow up there at all. By April/May this trail should be pretty clear depending on how much snow there was during the winter.
Planing to do this hike. Spring 2024. Any advise ? How much water did you take ?
@daughteroftheking1671 Sorry for the late reply! There is usually snow up there well into June. This is usually a July/August hike for us. It depends on how crazy the winter is. We all took around 2 liters of water.
I live in Saratoga and I LOVE going up on lake mountain to shed hunt and find petroglyphs! One of the most underrated mountains ever!
Sad the sword isnt there anyone...i was there Aug 2019 and climbed up and found the sword...it was amazing
Dang it’s not there anymore??
Sucks people would really ruin something like that I had a feeling
Hello? It's me again, did you quit youtube?
Hey! We need to upload some more videos, it's been a busy year, we might have some new videos in the next couple months!
@@takeahike4861 Don't feel pressured to keep doing RUclips if you don't like it :) although i will always be happy to have you on the platform
@@thefrogggy100 Thank you! Things have been busy but we should be doing more videos soon!
Where did you park?
These are the coordinates for the trailhead on AllTrails: 40.242340, -111.577670 There is a section in the road that kind of looks like a parking area, it's right at the bottom of the trail if you're coming from the west from the Slate Canyon side. And then to the east you will see the ATV road that goes up to Provo Peak, about a half mile up that road you'll turn right onto a single track trail and that is the trail that goes to the summit.
Hi i'm @Low Quality Stuff but on my main account, yes hello
Did you quit youtube? please come back. i would love to see you hike Millville Peak from Big Baldy in Utah
We need to post again! And Millville Peak would be awesome! We haven't done any hikes up in the Logan area.
Ah ok. Um if you hike up saddle rock (also known as castle rock) then you can get to some pretty cool areas back there. Providence canyon area.
@@lowqualitystuff7181 Ok cool! That's good to know! I definitely want to get up there and hike.
I’m sorry, but you never went to Little Baldy…the thing is, Little Baldy is a big domed peak, and there isn’t actually a trail that goes up to it. It’s a cool hike, but you didn’t go on it…
According to Strava and AllTrails that was Little Baldy. And correct, there isn't a trail up to it, we bushwhacked to the top.
Ah I think I see the confusion here, this is Little Baldy above Dry Canyon in Orem, Utah. There are more than 20 peaks in Utah with "Baldy" in the name.
Oh ok. The one i’m talking about is the one overlooking Providence Canyon (left side). There’s Temple Baldy nearby, and Castle Rock/Saddle Rock before that. Never been on it, but planning to do it in a week or so
@@lowqualitystuff7181 Ah, that makes sense. Did you end up going up there?
😲
Looks like an amazing hike!
At 1:50 you can kinda see nebo to the right of north summit of timp
The "Dream Mine" Whatever people think or believe is not pertinent or germane to reality. I am and have been a profesional Mineral Detector for 30 plus years and sometimes I utilize the overhead satellite to verify a target. I am here to say there is a very large metal target under the so called Dream-Mine! Has anyone else, ever takin the Responsibility of checking this out for themselves??? A cubic foot of pure gold weighs 1,200 pounds and so I consider the size when I scan an area for metals and their shape.
Cool Ram
Have you hiked flat top mountain you can see the tip of it behind lake mountain at 3:15
We haven't done that one yet, but it is definitely on our list! Have you done it? How is it?
I haven't done it I just see the mountain every day, I've seen flat tops neighboring peaks like Kelsey peak on your chanel, but I've heard with flat top you gotta be careful with property's and what not
@@simonlarsen1090 Ok cool, makes sense. Yeah I really liked Kelsey peak. And definitely, you do have to ask permission from the property owner but I've heard that they are really quick to give permission they just like people to ask first before crossing their property.
Nice work guys! Thanks for taking us along. Smart play in the nice shade hat. That's the only way to fly. I was watching the weather and wound up running it on the 13th. You guys did great! Beast mode to go back for seconds just a day or so later.
Thanks Todd! Haha I appreciate that, other people made fun of my hat but it definitely made a difference haha. That's awesome, nice work! Thanks for the kind words!
@@takeahike4861 Being able to keep that high altitude (less atmosphere to filter the UV) sun off your face/ears/neck is actually a huge deal. People who think a baseball cap is a shade hat, might consider taking some pictures of themselves in the sun, and see how much shade they are actually getting.
It looks like you had the same rough time we did. Hahaha. Great video. ruclips.net/video/9JWU2b2mkHc/видео.html
Haha definitely. Left a like on your video! And thank you!
Thanks! Keep up the awesome videos!
Great views! I'm curious if there are any springs near the saddle where you can filter water? Thanks in advance!
Hi Jason, thanks for checking out the video! This was my third time up to the saddle and I've never seen running water from a spring or creek in the area near the saddle at the times of year we have done it, July-September. There is what looks like an old cow trough up on the saddle but I don't know that I would drink water out of that. In the last bowl as you head up to the saddle it does look like there could be places for runoff if the time of year is right. We have seen snow at the saddle in July. Unless there are springs I don't know about I don't think there are any places to filter water near the saddle.
hey could you please give me basic directions for how to get here? I'm from Utah county and always wanted to do this
Yeah for sure! If you go up American Fork Canyon, take the turn off for Tibble Fork Reservoir, drive past Tibble Fork Reservoir and loop around following the road. Before you get to Granite Flat Campground there will be a turn off onto a dirt road, take that dirt road and follow it for about 3 miles and that will drop you at Silver Lake Flat Reservoir and there is a trailhead with a pit toilet and a sign about the area, that is where this hike starts. This is the AllTrails recording we used: www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/silver-glance-lake-and-sword-in-the-stone-scramble And this is the Google Maps to the starting point: www.google.com/maps/dir/Provo,+UT/40.50685,-111.65655/@40.4945114,-111.6575013,13.92z/data=!4m8!4m7!1m5!1m1!1s0x874d9271930bf1bf:0x1d90f12600b556ef!2m2!1d-111.6585337!2d40.2338438!1m0
Are you going to hit each of the Seven Peaks in Utah Valley this year? Or were these hikes only in preparation for the rim-to-rim?
Hey David, thanks for checking out the video! There is a good chance we will hit all seven peaks in the valley this year. The ones leading up to this point were definitely getting ready for the rim-to-rim. I'll be posting those videos soon.
Why is there so much variation in how long the Aspen Grove Trail is? You say 16 miles, AllTrails says 15.6 miles, and another post says that it is 6.82 miles one-way. Who is correct? Oh, and Google Maps says 6.8 miles one-way.
That is a great question. I've hiked this mountain every year for the last 20 years and we have that exact conversation every year haha. The mileage that's listed at the ranger station at the beginning of the trail is also different from the mileages you mentioned, I don't remember exactly but I think it is somewhere in the 7s one way. I am inclined to believe that AllTrails is probably pretty accurate. I recorded this hike on Strava and I didn't pause at all, so the mileage I listed includes walking around at Emerald Lake and walking around the summit. We spent a good chunk of time in both places and so I could have easily added on .4 miles from all of the extra moving around.
Which way did you approach the summit? Me and my friends climbed this in December through knee deep snow (in tennis shoes lol) and we came up from a large meadow and then up the east face, which in the snow was maybe the sketchiest thing I’ve ever done.
I can't imagine doing that peak in the snow without ice axes and crampons, that's insane, I bet it was sketchy! Nice work! We started in Alpine at Schoolhouse Springs and went right up the ridgeline (so we turned off the trail before you would get to the lake). I think we were more on the west side of the mountain, I've heard there are a few approaches and I think we were more to the west.
Beautiful
Thanks for watching!
Great 👍
Thank you!
How was the scramble right before Pfeifferhorn? I keep trying to find a safer way around that sketchy section, but I cant seen to find one.
That scramble is super dicey. There were several times we would go a certain way and then have to back track and find a different way. If we go up there again I think we would try and stay right on top of the ridge for the first little bit and then drop to the south side ever so slightly, if you go too far to the south side you have to climb back up to the ridge line at the bottom which isn't fun. But when all is said and done, it just seems like a super dangerous section and you have to be careful making your way through it, no matter which way you go. There were some guys up there getting ready for the WURL and they basically ran down that section, I have no idea how they did it.
@@takeahike4861 I just managed to get the b@lls to do this yesterday. That section you are talking about is really crazy, but I just stayed focused on what was directly in front of me, and didnt look down lol. Thanks for the help
@@bjf5027 Awesome! Nice work! Yeah it is intense for sure. Haha yes, that sounds like a great way to approach it haha. For sure!
