🚨 Episode #24: "Trapped in Time and Overcoming Fear" 🚨
In this powerful episode of The War Journal, host Jim Sisco reflects on a deeply personal experience-the excruciating days waiting to go home. It was a period where each passing day felt like wasted time, an empty piece of existence that he could never reclaim. His feelings of being trapped and watching life slip by, is something many of us face in our own lives.
Fear, anxiety, and stress, often born from unfulfilled careers and stagnant relationships, create a sense of paralysis. The fear of the unknown and an unwillingness to pursue dreams or make bold changes leaves people stuck in a hollow existence.

I reflect on my feelings about leaving the Marines and how many Veterans who are not as optimistic struggle, especially when faced with mental health issues like PTSD, anxiety, or depression, compounded by feelings of isolation and loss of camaraderie.
Fear and uncertainty prevents people from embracing happiness.

When people focus on negative outcomes, they become trapped in a cycle of worry and doubt, unable to appreciate the present or take steps toward fulfilling their goals. This fear of the unknown can lead to hesitation, missed opportunities, and a constant search for security, which ultimately stifles personal growth that could bring them joy and fulfillment.

Nice brother!
which company and platoon? I was B-1.
I was in Charlie Company 3rd Platoon.
Do you have any pictures from DS?
Great episode! Transition after the war was interesting. I am sure it was frustrating to do guard duty far from the border.
Awesome brother!
Super authentic and appreciated insights, thanks
Thank You Sir!
Powerful story, Jim. Your honesty about the fear and confusion of combat is really impactful. It's amazing how those early experiences shaped you for later deployments. I can't imagine the intensity of accidentally causing friendly fire or mistaking another Marine for the enemy. Thanks for sharing your journal and giving us a glimpse into your service.
Thanks Aswin!
Wow, this is a powerful journal entry. It's really moving to hear your thoughts as a 20-year-old marine. The line "don't forget the pain you have felt in death betrayal stress and hatred" is especially strong. It's a good reminder to hold onto the tough experiences we have in life and learn from them. I also like that you mention finding education - that's something that can always stay with you. Thanks for sharing this Jim, and thanks for your service.
Former Force Recon here. Definitely rivalry in the 90s when I was in. It went away in GWOT and some of my best friends were Team Guys.

17:50 "family court" mob unconstitutional illegal terrorism is WORSE than war. In war, you are fighting an enemy and you know the rules. There are no rules! There really are no rules in the fake improv theater known as "family court" either. Their rulings and rules only apply to stable human beings that respect laws and rules; just like those NO GUNS ALLOWED signs businesses post on their doors.
I agree! This is only a glimpse into my situation, which is insane!
A terrible thing. Sometimes, the weight of what we deal with is too much for "normal" girls. I found my soulmate in my early forties. SF, ABY
I'm still looking for my soulmate.
Love it brother.
Thank You Matt!

If an officer discharges a weapon than there is debriefing and time off to reflect. Our military doesn't get a break. It's our job to stand up for them. They already did their job to stand up for us.
Excellent discussion! You represent the healing conversations our war heroes need.

What happened to you in family court is absolutely insane. It should be reversed. That judge is clearly unfit to wear the robe!
