@@WilliamHearnTOEFL_Tutorhiiii, just wanted to ask how does this marks still work? I mean let’s say I got 14 raw scores. Where will I belong in this case? Is it 18, 19, 20, or 22? How do ETS decide which marks the student deserves

@@asiyaasaeed8437 Thank you for your question. Believe it or not, ETS, the makers of the TOEFL, have always been VERY secretive about how their scoring works. Over the years, I've used my experience to determine how I think it works. From what I've gathered, the test has easy, medium, and hard level difficulty questions, AND there are easy, medium, and hard level tests. That is why there is a range of TOEFL scores in relation to the raw scores. So, with a raw score of 14, your TOEFL score could be between 18 - 23 with the likelihood you would score 21. Just enough to have to test again. My suggestion is to increase your skills to get at least 17 questions right.

It's totally normal to be nervous when speaking, but that goes away, mostly, when you know exactly what is expected of you and you know that you are doing what the TOEFL graders want from you. Hello. Love the photo of the green kitten! To answer your question: speaking "fast" isn't necessary on the TOEFL. What you want to do is to know how to take notes, how to structure your response the way the graders require, and to be concise with your answers. Many times, when trying to prove how well we can speak in English, we talk too much. The TOEFL Speaking section is NOT testing how well you can speak in English, it is testing how well you can take notes and use those notes to answer concisely. Just FYI - I have had many students who had low to Intermediate English speaking skills but scored 27 - 29 on their TOEFL, and you can too.

@@Ekyann My friend, I know how disappointing that is to be only 1 point short of passing. To raise your Reading score to 25 or higher, you must test in a different way than you have been. Thank you for your question. The sentence you give is an excellent example of a tactic ETS uses on the TOEFL to overwhelm you, and cause you confusion and anxiety. Notice that the sentence is LONG, and the structure does not have punctuation? This is actually three (3) separate ideas in one sentence separated by the words "but" and "because." For this kind of sentence, it's best to break it into pieces and pay attention to only the part that is directly related to the question that is asked about it. NOW, if no question asks about the information in this sentence, DON'T READ IT at all. Learn more about how to read less and get a higher score in my other videos. @user-ox4fm6br3u I'm not sure what you mean by "secondary level passages." I will say that the ETS test makers have a very unique way of making the TOEFL tests, and they change how they write the test and change the rules from time to time, so you must use the newest, genuine, TOEFL iBT practice tests from ETS.

Great question. If you understand the lessons I teach in my channel, you tell me. I'll give you a hint: there is one sentence in the paragraph with the related information that contains the "clue" that you need to answer the question, AND you must use the "Sentence Simplification" skill to find it. Remember, the question gives you the answer - IF you have the TOEFL skills to control your emotions, read less, understand more, and use the rules to eliminate wrong choices. I'm looking forward to your answer.

Good question, and thank you for asking. Honestly, I've never thought of it, and I don't know the answer right off hand. Considering that British English and American English both use English vocabulary, it would likely be okay. Regardless, the only time you would use idioms at all would be in Question #1, and any penalty would be slight, not interfering with your overall score.
