As a trans person I also think that there is some risk and the inital people from the lottocracy can greatly change how the policies end up in the future but I am more hopeful it would be better than whats current and starting local is definitly the way to go. First just towns then counties then states then regions. I only have a few basic rules in my life and the newest one is definitely that I will not use any sort of A.I that acts human like or creates creative works. For example im ok with asking chatgpt a question but an AI girlfriend or friend or an image generator im not ok with. The reason is I dont want to get used to or even addicted to it.

The problem with the fantranslation of this (and some others) is that it's not a fantranslation, but rather a rewrite by someone who is only working off the official English translation. This means they are just taking lines they assume is being translated wrong/unclearly and replacing them with what they think is meant. Take the opening line: "I killed my mentor, but I am not his murderer." This is not only an accurate translation of what was said in the original French, but also meant to be paraphrase of the opening line of the Lovecraft story, The Thing on the Doorstep: "It is true that I have sent six bullets through the head of my best friend, and yet I hope to shew by this statement that I am not his murderer." Yet the fantranslation assumes the line must be wrong, probably guesses it means something like "I killed him, but I can't be blamed for having killed him" and renders it "My mentor, there was no other choice." which not only removes the intentional on the surface "contradiction" of the words, but also the intended literary reference. The same goes for "You gain Brouzouf" as another example. Brouzouf is a fictionally currency that gets reused in a lot of French science fiction, and has also become a slang term for money irl. Similar to how the word "Mithril" gets reused in English-language fantasy media as a type of metal. The correct translation here would either be to keep Brouzouf as is (as the official translation did) or to replace it with an equivalent common in English sci-fi media ("Credits" for example) for clarity at the cost of flavour. The translator, not being a French speaker, seemingly had no idea what the line meant, saw that it popped up when they killed enemies, and just rendered it "Kill Confirmed", which means something entirely different than the original line and actively removes the info/makes it less clear that you got money.

32:30 this right here is my favourite bit of the game, the sheer amount of genuine fear and empathic horror in the Chief's voice as he desperately asks Halligan, a man who he knows is an absolute bastard, did not do something so vile and petty as this. His hope for humanity tries to cling on and accepts Halligan's answer, that even he couldn't do such a thing, but you can hear how fragile it is here and justifiably so considering everything Halligan does, it's beautiful.
