I grew up in Charleston in the 50s and 60s. It was an very different place. Imagine a time when while walking down one of those cobbled streets the signs outside houses very much like that 'wedding venue' saying things like, "We are very proud of and enjoy our garden. Please enjoy it too." and the gate was standing open.

Okay. enjoyed your girls trip to Charleston, South Carolina. I love Charleston but as I'm from a little further south in Georgia, I actually live in southeast Georgia, I love Savannah, Georgia even more. Both cities are similar while being very different. As for the cookies at the Byrd Cookie store not being very good, I have a grand daughter that would certainly beg to differ, as do I, but It's all a matter of taste. WE Love the cookies from there and every time she comes down from Virginia to Georgia that is one of the places she wants to go. As for you liking the Collards Greens, I'm surprized as most of the Brits I've seen try them hated them. But then there are several ways to prepare them with some being more bitter than others and some having more meat drippings in them. Your saying Barbeque 'Food' is precious, I love it. Of course, Americans just say Barbeque, or they might say Carolina Barbeque or Texas Barbeque or Kansas City Barbeque or Memphis Barbeque or wherever in the south you might happen to be. It's all good to me, yet all different one from the other. Most every state has their version of Barbeque as well as many cities. It's sort of like saying you've tried Brunswick Stew because there are as many different types of Brunswick Stew as there are places that make it. But it's fun to try them all. Just like Byrd Cookies and Barbeque! Have fun young lady, do your thing and I'll keep watching.

Hey Jim! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment! We had so much fun. I've been so spoiled with the soft gooey cookies here in the US I think it was mainly the consistency of Byrd's that disappointed me. Other than that, every single thing we ate (and we ate a lot) was delicious!! I'm hoping to visit Georgia in the not so distant future too! And I'll be sure to check 'bbq food' off my list everywhere I go...just so I don't miss out!! See you soon!

You have to remember the further south you go in Florida the more Yankee it gets. Pretty much everything south of Daytona Beach is pretty much the North. So in my neck of the woods here in the TN, country fried steak is battered beef deep fried with a softer coating with sawmill gravy covering it. And chicken fried steak is battered chicken deep fried with an outer crisp with sawmill gravy. And you can’t forget the buttermilk biscuit on the side to help lap up that good gravy. 😋

The term "soocer" comes from Britain! It's a Britishism to shorten things like that; another example would be "telly" for "television"....🙂 "association football" = "association" = "assoc" = "soc" = "soccer". 🙂 ..then eventually the Brits changed it so all "football", not just association football, started being called "football", but the Americans couldn't do that, because, by that time, we already had a sport called "football", so we kept "soccer". 🙂

Florida has great college football, but the best is in the "deep south" - states like Georgia, south Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama etc. if you are gonna live in the southeast US you NEED to experience college football on a nice fall afternoon.

BTW, you feeling like you need the sunshine and find the weather in the UK depressing is a real thing. They've probably changed the terminology since my time of studying psychology. But it used to be classified as seasonal depression and is a real thing. Most people will find themselves a bit down. But many others get seriously depressed and melancholy. You can look into it as there are things one can do to help some. I personally hate dreary gloomy days and extremely cold weather. Hence I moved from the midwest and horrible winters to the southeast. Haven't regretted it and it's going on 25 years now.

Of course a lot of English ancestry but also a lot of Irish, Scottish and French Canadian influences that have built New England. My wife and I were there (actually in Saco, about 30 minute south of Portland) the week of July 6 - 13, and it was (very uncharacteristically) beastly hot there. I do suggest getting it in a bottle instead of a can. Both are good but to me a bottle just seems slightly better. There are many accents through out New England but I do hope for the most part they are similar to your English accent. If you are driving I hope you go along coastal route 1. (With gloves on, obviously) My grandparents had a magnificent, almost 3 story tall, avocado tree in their backyard that they planted as a wee little twig 60 years ago. I ate SO MANY that i made myself allergic - but nothing in this world will make me quit that gorgeous fruit 😅❤ i took a year off and went back in. Issues have definitely subsided and now i try not to test my luck with more than half of their super large bacon avocados (1 whole one equals 4 medium hass) - they are legitimately larger than my hand 😂

Girl same. I live in Florida and my aunt has a massive mango tree. Was peeling bags of them only to find out a few days later I have an allergy to them! The skin has the same chemical compound as poison ivy. I had blisters all over my arms and anywhere the mango skin touched my skin. Awful 😂

That place looks amazing, not sure i could be without my kids for 7 weeks though. You've got to hand it to the Americans, they know how to construct a facility. Can you imagine an American kid having to endure the hell that is spending 7 weeks at Pontins or Butlins 😣

HAHAHA sorry I missed this Darren - it made me laugh! If the kids are ever ungrateful I'll show them Butlins!

The Waldorf Astoria also used to be the Trump Hotel. Before that it was the Old Post Office Building. So glad it's no longer the Trump Hotel. Now I can actually go into it.

My sister kept getting a rash around her mouth and my parents couldn't figure out what was causing it until some mango juice ran down her arm and she got a line of rash from it. Now I get double the mangos
