Great tips! I used to think I had to exercise to lose weight. Now I exercise to build strength and because my body just feels better when I make sure I get some form of movement in each day.
Interesting how our reasons for exercising can change over the years. Building and maintaining strength enables us do all the activities we love! Thanks so much for watching :)
I mostly wear inexpensive 100% cotton shirts and either shorts or sweatpants. I don't like the feel of other fabrics. Also , cotton sports bras. I have some hand weights and a band or two, but ne3d to watch some of your videos on using the bands. I do wear a fitbit, but mostly to monitor sleep.
I like cotton too, and comfort is top priority. Good quality shoes are usually the most important item in terms of what we wear. I have a few workouts using resistance bands and dumbbells for you to try! Let me know how it goes.

Good advice. It helps to have food sensitivities like gluten, dairy, or sugar free since most make allowances for people who do. You're right about the celery sticks... I find when I plan ahead and have the good things available and ready to eat, I stick to the healthy options.Are you a mental health professional?
Yes having healthy, prepared food options at home goes a long way to keeping us on track! It's great that most restaurants and people we visit are aware of and give alternatives for food sensitivities and preferences. I am a personal trainer and fitness instructor. Holidays really are hard. There are so many goodies offered. Sometimes I say, "Thanks, but I"ll pass for now." or "Those look good. Maybe later." I want to compliment them or affirm their hospitality, but still say no thank you (your sentence! ) Are you a mental health professional? It's all good advice. Especially the celery sticks. It's always easier if we plan ahead.

Hi Sandra. Never done anything Pilates like before. Feels good to move body in new ways but I kind of feel like I am not maximizing my exercise time.
I'm glad you gave it a try! Pilates is typically done at a slower pace in order to really pay attention to the movement as well as the stabilizing muscles. It's great to have variety in our fitness throughout the week: slower workouts, faster cardio pace, outdoors, etc. Thanks for the comment 😃

Several years ago, I fell in love with a sport. Since then, what I eat and what workouts I do are aimed at better sports performance. And this is what I tell other ladies in their 60s: Fall in love with a sport and you'll naturally become fitter and healthier in order to improve at your favorite sport.

Great video! I have to laugh at myself on the first thing to quit - not caring how I look. Back when I was 58, I was teaching myself how to jump rope. I was a complete beginner and quite terrible at it but I loved to practice. So I would back my car up against a huge bush and high shrubs and put up the trunk lid. This set-up allowed me to be hidden from public view alongside my car while learning the basic bounce. 🤣 Now several years later, I'm an serious recreational jump roper. Neighbors may look twice at me while I practice fancy moves (some drills look ridiculous), but it doesn't bother me. It's unlikely they can jump rope as well as I can! 🥰
This is such an excellent example of how we can get in our heads about what we look like, and then how freeing it is when we let go of worrying about it! Thank you so much for sharing. I imagine when your neighbours see you doing jump rope drills their main thought is "impressive"!! 🙌

I have the bands, small wrist weights and a couple 2lb hand weights. Funny, while thinking about this I realize I use old worn out runners inside …because they are clean. Might be a bad idea for support. Hmmm.
The general recommendation for running shoes is to replace them after 500-800 km of use, which can be hard to assess especially for shoes used for indoor workouts. I suggest replacing shoes used regularly about once a year, at the maximum every 2 years. We want to keep our feet happy! PS I also have wrist weights and really like them. 👋

Great reasons to exercise beyond the usual things you think of. I agree - you do feel more visible when you feel strong and confident! Great video. (I'd also add keeping aches and pains at bay - I had a 2 painkiller night last night because I've not been as active as usual while helping my daughter with her newborn - definitely getting out for a walk today, even if only for half an hour!)
Definitely agree about keeping aches and pains at bay! Especially when we are doing something new or extra, like you are with your new grandchild (wonderful!). I did a big yard work project a few days ago, and though I felt it the next day, the sore muscles were not as bad as I thought they would be! Thanks for watching :)

What is your opinion of vibration boards, there are a lot of them on Amazon and wondering if you recommend using vibration, and if so what brand would you recommend
I haven't used vibration boards. It looks like there are some potential health benefits, and also some medical conditions where they would not be recommended, such as for people who have a pacemaker. It is a relatively large piece of equipment, so before buying talk to your health provider (physio, doctor). As always, keep focus on healthy diet and exercise! Thanks for the question Susan! 😀
