IN SLO-MOTION YET! REAL POETRY IN MOTION! PPHOTOGRAPHED THROUGH THE LENS OF THE iPHONE 6. Fabulous Pacific Ocean view from the tip of the Santa Monica Pier, first at regular speed, then in slow motion. Notice the grace of the waves at the slower speed. It's almost hypnotic.

THROUGH THE i OF THE iPHONE 6. Witness up close the astonishing beauty of the horses as the Wurlitzer 146A band organ plays a happy tune on the Santa Monica Pier Carousel. It is very obvious that everything on this historic carousel has been well cared for over the years. Photographed by Ellen Darrow.
Beautiful organ! Why does it sounds so quiet tho?
Long long ago my grandfather took me fishing on the Santa Monica Pier. I had trouble reeling in my fishing line. Grandpa helped and we discovered the problem. There was a halibut on the end of the line. The halibut came to dinner with us that evening thanks to mom.
My dad took me fishing at the pier many times, back in the 70s and early 80s when you could still eat what you caught. Well, one day when we were fishing I had my mini folding rod and I got a bite. I started reeling it in, and it was a small shark. Right when we almost had it reeled in it bit through the line and escaped. I was so dissapointed. I really wanted to taste shark. A few days later one of my dad's employees from his electrical contracting biz gave us some shark meat. He went on a professional shark fishing expedition. The shark tasted rather similar to swordfish, but not as good.
On the Wurlitzer 146 the trumpets are not on
The City of Santa Monica is being a little too careful about "noise" for the neighbors. You are correct about the trumpets. They even put a "governor" on the sound system to tamp it down some. I agree with you that it's ridiculous.
Some neighbor must have complained about "the noise".
