i make edits and art. pretty inactive channel, more active video-posting on my tiktok (manofbeskar), and art posting on twitter, Instagram, bluesky and tumblr (also manofbeskar). old channel names were “star-lady” and “djarinvanth” in case the watermarks confuse you.
mishanks || dream about me (fan animation)
hand-drawn animation consisting of 120 frames. tribute to the romantic pairing of mihawk x shanks from one piece. song used is "anthems for a seventeen year-old girl" by broken social scene. when i heard this part of the song, i pictured this animation in my mind so clearly that i had to make it. i hadn't properly animated a fully-coloured thing in such a long time so this was pretty fun to work on. to think 26 seconds of content was 120 frames lol

as someone who is part of a trauma system, jane has got to be my favourite DID rep i've seen so far. i absolutely love how they work it into the story and how it interacts with the magic system (or rather power system)

I've watched many one piece animimacs and this is the best one I've ever seen, the animation, the art style, the attention to detail in their clothing and expressions. The subtle further obsessing hidden within the lyric frames. This is incredibly epic and this needs more attention.

i really like how the font for "dream about me" gets more chaotic with each time it pops up on screen. it kind of shows like as they get older, their lives get messier and the distance between them grows but there's still like a desperate connection between them that allows them to find each other again (sorry if this is super nerdy)
@@socs9605 don’t apologise, not nerdy at all! i’m actually excited you noted that. the effect i wanted was for it to symbolise how over the years, their pull to one another only intensifies. at first minute and ignorable, but by the end, super in your face and screaming for attention. they can’t quite stop thinking about each other any less than the day before, no matter how much their lives change. i also had the colour scheme between the first and second “dream about me”s get more intense and alarming in the second while the first was more calm. by the third, it’s just black because they are the only thing on each other’s minds by then, a kind of all-encompassing obsession. thank you!

@@chocolatebirch459 haha the good news is if you want to watch/read their scenes, there’s so little you could finish it all in 5 minutes or less. a lot of their dynamic comes from a deeper lore tho, so their short screentime isn’t all there is to them! they’re so intrinsically connected in the larger lore. thank you!

i know this is probably a joke but larry before the accident was very confident. in the flashbacks with his wife and john, he’s pretty comfortable getting up close. the accident disfiguring him destroyed his confidence and forced him to face how he treated the people around him (similarly to rita) which ended up also ruining his ability to flirt since he no longer feels like he deserves anything good, and preemptively ruins his chances
