Here's my comment. 2024 has been the first year imo that Hasbro beat McFarlane, and all this end of the year stuff that McFarlane is just flooding out (a lot of it great) seems to be like someone who did mediocre all semester only to cram study during finals week to save their ass! I couldn't not get the Justice Buster because I love it from Batman: Endgame, but this figure is seriously lacking! It needed some things. How about red sun attachments? As much as I don't want to admit it, Hasbro really beat out who has the better big exoskeleton suit with their Hulkbuster, which is better in every way.

DC Multiverse, as a line, remains hot garbage. DC Universe Classics from 10-15 years ago and even DC Icons SHIT all over McFarlane's stuff. Can't wait for the license to pass to someone else.

Sometimes McF sinks to amateur kitbash-level quality.

That’s why I hate soft good… People who unboxed rave about soft good but the thing is that in the past, they gotten their own soft goods that were to the quality that they like but McFarlane never going to make cakes that quality nor is really any other regular line

I would’ve loved this head sculpt on the digital Aquaman. We got early in the year I think… Like a second head. Instead of that water, spirit, person creature.

What I like most about this set is that it goes back to the ingredient which has been missing in McFarlane’s later waves: fun. Even if they’re a pass for the average collector, it’s still good to see these types of figures. Great review and thanks

I didn’t know this game existed until this wave showed up. I watched some gameplay videos, and I have to say, I think I would have enjoyed it if I had discovered it back in the day. Though, to be fair, I was only 3 when the game was released. I really dig the figures. I lowkey want this wave, though my favorite of all of them has to be The Flash (since he’s Wally) and that Superman, as he’s just a step closer to the definitive ‘90s look. Minus the pixel shading, of course.

Honestly the cape should not be a issue I prefer a cloth cape then those stupid plastic capes

I got the whole wave. I'm 100% planning on just taking all the effects off and putting some new vinyl stickers on for the emblems. The thing I can't get over is how this is all the best builds for each respective character in some of the best coloring we've had

Why do I feel like McFarlane made Cyborg Superman this way to A) not be compared to the Mafex perfect one, and B) because it's the more "edgy" and "badass" design? And been waiting for the Manhunters forever. Kinda wanted a more Geoff Johns era design, especially with the face plate that opens up to reveal the lantern underneath, but this is fine, and it looks like McFarlane is going pretty hard now on this interchangeable face plate. Manhunters, Huntress, Geo Force, Lightning Lad, Simon Baz. As long as it sticks in and is flush, then keep 'em coming!

Is it safe to say that over half the people who bought Ambush Bug got him because of DC Online? Love him so much in that game! I suppose I'm glad that McFarlane gave us a "corrected" Mr. Freeze with the animated series paint job, but it feels like they also screwed us at the same time because we all bought that first mid one. But, isn't that the life of a DC Multiverse Collector? McFarlane always makes you buy the figure you KINDA wanted before giving you the figure you REALLY wanted.

Probably one of the best figures they've made imo. LOVE IT and I hope I can say it's definitely a poster child for when McFarlane DOES actually do paint well. I'm looking forward to Power Girl and Wildcat and I hope we can get a really good comic Dr. Fate soon. Let's keep that JSA building!

Very predictable from the moment we got Gordon Batman, but it also could've NOT happened. I'm kinda pissed; I paid full price at Target, and just kept seeing like 4 or more on the shelf that no one bought (was this not popular?), until they put it on clearance for like $20. Sunovabitch.

If you had to pick a McFarlane figure to be the poster child for biggest disappointment, I think it'd have to be Daniel West Reverse Flash. How the hell is it that the number one consumer level toy manufacturer that's known for killer sculpts does a straight up Hasblow painted on body of a figure that could've been best speedster ever?! Godspeed, he is NOT!

I managed to come across this by chance and got it ONLY because I heard how much everyone wanted it. But, I guess I need someone to explain to me why everyone wants the blue one so much more than the red one. I thought the whole point of this figure WAS to get the red one, as it's meant to replicate the suit Jean Paul wears at the very end of Knightfall, during the Batcave chase. And I have to say, I just don't feel this figure is all that. Not enough to write home about. It might be if the cape blades were articulated and you could do something with them. Otherwise, it's just a solid figure to me. What's the big deal?

Great review! I get the idea and like the creativity, but ultimately, not for me. I can see where others would love it, though. Like you said, fully dependent on if it’s your cup of tea or not.

They way you have them standing at the beginning of the vid, Superman and Aquaman literally look like drawings.

I don´t get why, with the few characters the game has, they didn´t complete them all. They were just missing Green Arrow, Wonder Woman and Cheetah as regular characters. as for the big one, instead of Darkseid I´d have made Despero. Now, that´s a character that barely has figures of him.

I pre-ordered Flash, but that's all. I'm going to try to remove the pixilated paint from the red parts and smooth out the edges of the lightning bolt on his chest.

Definitely redeemable qualities in my eyes, but Blackest Night wave, it is NOT! It's nice to see McFarlane doing more creative stuff with their figures than Hasbro, like doing figures based on games WITH an old school paint job meant to replicate pixelation if you want to call it that. It's somewhat gimmicky in my eyes, but not in the same way as doing all these unnecessary glow in the dark, sketch, and patina editions. Superman and Batman having poseable capes is a huge plus! The paint job for what it is seems to be pretty nicely done, although I'd say the effect is least noticeable on Flash. As figures they're all solid, though I'd say I'm getting pretty sick of McFarlane being consistently incapable of giving Aquaman a proper face sculpt and paint. I'm also sick of all these floppy weapons. They need to be hard plastic, not floppy. These tridents are either A++ or D. If we're being honest, I'm sure the only real selling point of the wave is Darkseid, and he looks good, but he feels to light and cheap (and hollow), and not as good as the mega fig. Getting sick of the single joint knees and elbows on these thick figs. Not to mention a major disappointment with all of this wave is no interchangeable hands. And I could not figure out on my own how I'm supposed to attach these energy effects. Seems obvious until they fall off. All in all, I'd say it's an intriguing concept, nice gimmick, but not the best execution. A wave entirely supported by its BAF.

I hope a 2nd wave appear with WW, GA, Cheetah, Despero.

Love these figures. I know there will be variants with another paint and deco, but these have the 16bits charm.

I feel like i’m always in the minority with these thing’s lol. Feel like there’s a certain charm with these. There not perfect clearly but they are unique enough to stand out in the collection. I’m 50/50 atm but it’s very tempting.
