This was a good video, thanks. I was wondering how that foolr is holding up? If you know. Im building a transitionless shower on concrete slab. I need to raise the floor up to match the 1-1/8" Ditra shower pan that will also be on slab. The plan is to use multiple layers of concrete backer/hardi board to accomplish this. A Ditra heat duo membrane will be the final layer. so 1/2" + 1/4" + 5/16" = 1-1/8" I was considering using the Hardi board (1/4") first on the slab then a 1/2" exterior grade plywood then regular Ditra Heat (1/4"). how would I bond the plywood to the Hardi board ? I could go Hardi board, 1/2" cement board, then Dirta Heat Duo (duo has the thermal break) ? Thoughts? Anyone? Lol.

True porcelain tile is the same colour throughout the tile and surface , the tile you're using has the same colour glaze as the body (glazed porcelain ). This means that if it chips, there is less chance of seeing it compared to light body porcelain and dark surface glaze. Thank you for the video.

Great demo. Just a question on the bullnose - this would seem to work great where the tile surface and porcelain are the same color - like your gray example (very nice) but I'd guess it might not always turn out as nice as yours did. Something to keep in mind when selecting tiles.

Is the only solution for coupling to galvanized at a threaded point? If crap is too frozen to back off the thread do you just cut & rethread the pipe or is there a sharkbite type fitting for coupling galvanized to copper?

Yep it should attach to any angle grinder. The only thing you’ll want to make sure is that it is a variable speed. Technically you could use it with a standard grinder but it’s dangerous and spinning too fast. I’ve used it on standard grinders in the past but it is super risky and not supposed to at that high of RPM

Do I need to put thinset before laying down or I can bypass it since I’m screwing it down? If not thinset, can I use liquid nail to do it? Just use a modified thin set and ram set or concrete screws to keep it down until it dries. You don’t have to hit every 6 inches just the corners and a few in the middle until it dries. It’s a little different for tile but if you’re using LVP or laminate just tack it down and let it dry

Good question, the perimeter of the room is level, but the middle of the room dips down about 3/4 of an inch. So the perimeter of the room only has about an 8th inch of thin set. So using this method you don’t have to waste time and money on level quick, nor do you have to pull up any tiles to add more mortar while you’re setting.
