They say it's a BAD OMEN! - But the snow turned fun again!
Просмотров 2749 месяцев назад
I didn't plan for it... But it just happened that today was also a full eclipse day, About 96% eclipse on Mount Snow, VT... Some lifts and faces of the mountain got closed for the watch party. And while everyone was chilling and staring into the disappearing sun, the spring snow was re-freezing with every passing minute. It was no dilemma here. Moon covering the sun will always take backseat ov...

First time visiting Pico Mountain. Last week they got 27" of fresh snow, and even though it is spring, and everything melts fast, the mountain was completely opened with all its glades and trails. Not knowing much about this place we were in exploration mode and had a blast. We shall be back! First Time Skiing MAGIC Mountain - Uphill + Black Wooded Diamonds Top to Bottom!
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.Год назад
First time visiting #Magic Mountain, Vermont. Very cool place all around. You can skin up even when it's completely closed. The uphill trail zig-zags through the woods, and is more fun than what most resorts can offer. And the gamut of options on the way down, esp through the woods it's amazing. I did two loops, first headed down through the glades all the way to the bottom. Second cruised the ...
Winter Finally Arrived to Mount Snow - Skiing East Coast POW*#💥

Weather's never a factor. It's not often conditions improve by the minute as the day progresses. And this time, #MOUNTSNOW lived up to its name and delivered. The glades were still a lil scrappy💥 sounding, but for the first time, it felt like you could ski anywhere. North Face had chopped up inches of freshies. Even without sun, I'd say it was some of the best fun I've had all year. Has winter ...
First Time Skiing Bromley, VT! - How About Some Indie!

First time at #BROMLEY! The plan? Skin up at dawn and see if the conditions inspire me to stay for the day. To my surprise, in my ascent, many were already free-heeling down with headlamps and lanterns. Everyone I talked to, from the office to ski patrol, were great and friendly people, and the terrain, just staring at it from above, looked exciting. They call it the "Sun Mountain"-well, not to...

*GS MERCHANDISE: my-store-ef9953.creator-spring.com We hit STOWE right after New Year’s... Expectations were low, yet we woke up to an “East Coast Blue Bird” day - inch plus of freshies and blue skies. Started at 8am from Sunrise, moved to FourRunner, Gondola and Spruce Peak… the mountain conditions outperformed website numbers and weather forecast. Early soft groomers turned icy. But what was ...

    You caught most of the Men's Downhill. After the Olympics Whiteface was required to reforest part of the upper course hence you cannot ski the entire downhill. Franz Klammer was correct, the upper mountain is fierce, a real challenge. The middle is more than acceptable but the bottom section is flat and lacking the the true character of a championship downhill. For the most part the mountain served the 1980 Olympics very well. There were grave concerns about chronic traffic from Lake Placid to the mountain but this never really materialized. Winter conditions were slow to arrive in 1980 but ultimately there was enough cool temperatures to have a successful Olympics. Today Whiteface is a terrific mountain that gives a skier a true high alpine ski experience. It's the closest to Rocky Mountain skiing you will find in the east. The mountain skis "very big". The town of Lake Placid is a fabulous place to stay and only 20 minutes from the skiing. Mid week rates are very affordable at the hotels. The town is quite busy on the weekends so be sure to book ahead if you plan to be there Friday through Sunday. I highly recommend Whiteface Mountain and the town of Lake Placid.

    I booked a trip there this March 9 through the 14th 2024. I’m from Toronto Canada, never been to Vermont. I’m hoping the snow holds up in March? I heard Stowe and J Peak have the best snow on the east coast in March. I pick Stowe because the condo I rented lets me cancel as late as March 2. Wanted that option in case the snow is no good. What are your thoughts on Stowe second week in March? Thanks great video.

      @Type1FunDay 21 день назад

      Hey Joe, yeah, I think the reasoning is... the more north you go the more and better snow you get. Somehow it doesn't apply to New York tho, i don't think the snow in the Dacks is as good as in northern Vermont. If you go to Jay, get ready for cold, it has reputation for freezing weather, after all you are 4 miles from Canada. For Stowe - we keep going early in the season (first week of January) and then towards the end (first week of April), so I cannot comment on mid march from my own experience. But we do a lot of skiing in south and central vermont in mid march, and the resorts are still in pretty good shape by then. So i would expect the northern resorts be even better. If you want expert advice, go to you SkiEssentials youtube channel, and ask them there. The guys who test the skis and run the channel live in Stowe, ski every day, they will have great data points for you. (this is the guy in the video above btw) :o)

    What is your favorite East Coast resort/mountain?

    • @skiwithgenerationsnow
      @skiwithgenerationsnow Месяц назад

      This is the orange jacket guy... : ) I know which ones are NOT my favorites, hehe, but I don't want to point fingers at them. When it comes to favorite, it often comes to snow conditions, weather, type of skiing you enjoy, and how well do you know the mountain... sometimes the gems are not readily available to the masses. But in general I don't see a major difference between the resorts here, except that some are more commercial and some are more quite... I prefer the quite ones, I guess. Last year I enjoyed Pico, MRG and Magic, but that could have been because I went to some of them after a snow dump and it was also my first time, so there was the excitement from discovering things. If I had to really pick just one, it would probably be Okemo when fully opened... but my second and third might be pretty close behind. :)
