This is a good story. I think 7 parts.

Like most LLM stories this is repetitive, but not as bad as usual. Actually disregard that, it's as bad as usual. Why is Helen organizing supplies for a day and a half? How long does that take? Why is the Doc cleaning water for the same amount of time? A basic schedule might be useful but in a real survival situation both of the others would be absolutely livid at someone who did nothing but take stock of existing supplies and make an eating schedule (four separate times, sheesh). This is why you need to put actual work into an LLM story. You can't just give it a prompt and paste what it comes up with. And if that means you have to do some writing, well that's the reality. AI isn't up to making decent stories on its own yet.

i don't agree with the story's direction that humans would be that nosy. i mean here on earth you can't go everywhere you wish. even the nutty freedom minded amercians agree there's places we don't want you to see, hear let alone going into. and to be fair there's sometimes somethings that are just none of your business minding.

That's what the maxim "peace through strength" is asserting, spelled out for the slower students in the back. Same goes for Heinlein's "an armed society is a polite society," and also for my favorite maxim, "it's better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war."

Very poorly written with inconsistent plotline.

This story sounded like some of the rough-draft chapters were left in. It's not a bad story, but really, if it had been narrated by a human, those things could have been noticed and cleaned up. The dual POV was a good idea, but its execution was clunky. That area needs some work. A better explanation of the weapon/shield would have been appreciated. Calling it quantum is akin to Treknobabble. I thought for a minute you were going there with the bridge crew who noticed something at the poles and that somehow the core of the Earth was involved. But that was it. I'm going to give this a B-. You've got the bones of a really good story, but some parts need to be cleaned up or reworked, and you can flesh out this human technology a little more fully. You could have entered a chapter describing the alien signals that were intercepted and translated, prompting a hidden unified leadership in order to bring everyone to the table in order to develop the quantum technology in the time frame described. I'll still give it a thumbs up, but it would be great to get a reworked version in the future.
