Ride down PCH, 1 12 25 Did not enter recent burn area no clickbait it's just a ride
Took a ride down PCH towards Pacific Palisades, did not see any of the new fire damage. I saw some of the many resources from all over the Country who have come to help, Thank you to all of the first responders/firefighters! I didn't even try to get past the police, as soon as I saw them open their car doors and look at me, I gave the the universal "U-Turn" sign and turned around.

I was out riding my bike on Oct. 26th, 2024 and caught this video of the Navy testing a big silent drone. I asked the uniformed Navy officer there why they weren't testing on their base a few miles down the beach, he said that was above his paygrade. Trying to get the public used to these drones maybe? Who knows...

    Wow, this is very interesting! I've been following the NJ drone/orb situation closely and even looked around the 805. I know about the larger scale drones that Mugu works on, but wasn't aware of these medium-sized ones. Very odd they'd be testing these in public even if it's unclass technology. Great capture.

    Nice video! I just received my Wired Cruiser but due to snow have not had a chance to ride it. I am glad you mentioned the extra wide seat on the cruiser you rode because I thought I might want one, but after your video, that seat would not be for me. I moved up from an Lectric XP 2.0 where I put 2,420 miles on itin two years. I had the Lectric comfort seat, I may put that on the cruiser as it is a very comfortable ride on 50 mile + trips, but want to try the stock wired seat first. Great review of both bikes!!

      @@VSlim45 good to hear the issue got resolved. I’m in the market for an e-bike, and trying to decide between the Wired or the Ecells. All in all, how has your experience been with your dual star? I watched a video of your’s earlier, it was a range test, and your bike kept shutting down around the 52 volt range. Did you ever figure out what the issue was with that?

    • @VSlim45
      @VSlim45 27 дней назад

      @@lennygarrison6836 It was the battery management system (bms) kicking in to save my battery. I did another video this last weekend where I rode to Point Dume and back, I do a little better job explaining what happens when your battery drops like that (it's obviously near the end of the video when that happens if you want to just skip to that part). Once your battery is down around 20% (ish) it won't let you use too much power, to save itself it will shut down. But if you use only PAS 1 or 2, you can get some more range out of it.

    I got 75 miles with just a 20ah Ariel Rider Kepler battery 52V on PAS 1&2 . Average speed just under 12.5 mph and pedaling the entire way in PAS 1 & 2. Speeds 17 mph and 10 mph in some areas where I was messing around stopping and chatting.. resting.. But average 12.4 or 12.5 mph. If your average trip speed was 17-18 mph for 70 miles, that would be impressive. Non stop 52V Kepler will do 45 miles at 20 mph till battery is at 10% and starts to go under 20 mph. Throttle only.

    First, I enjoy your channel. Second, maybe you have been told by now but that switch on the rear battery does nothing, This was the post by David Cleveland when I asked on FB “That switch was to shut the battery off provided by the case manufacturers. We don't allow that. By utilizing a battery balancer you draw from each battery allowing each battery to be used half the time. Increases the batteries life, reduces battery sag, and gives you increased speeds. This system was developed over five years ago. The only way to go.”

    Nice video. I purchased the wide Freedom when they first came out. It was called wicked. When wired came out with the second gen I sold mine with the pretense of buying a new one. That is the same time ecells came out with the 5 star. So I rolled the dice, and purchase the five star. Had a couple issues with my five star. I had no rear brake lights, and the brake cut off did not work, other than that it was a decent bike. Did not care that much for ecells customer service. But they were going through some Growing Pains at the time So I wound up selling the five-star also. I wound up buying a used wired freedom, but it is not the new upgraded model. I am so tempted to buy the newest version of the freedom, I love the fact that it peeks out over 3,000 Watts. Anyway nice video.

    I’m sorry to hear your wife was throwing up. Has she done that distance before? I ask because GI issues are pretty common the farther you go, if you get fueling or hydration or electrolytes balance wrong the stomach will reject food or the bowels will dump. The fact that she bounced back so quickly makes me think it was fueling/hydration/electrolytes not overheating because if you got that far into heat illness you probably are laid out for some time. I was out there too in the 50 miler (had to drop to the 50k due to dehydration so ended up with 36+ miles), I know it was a warm day. KHRaces “electrolytes” drink mixes are severely diluted (imho, I see them dropping 1 scoop in a gallon and it is supposed to be 2 scoops per 500ml) so if she was relying on them for sodium she probably was under-electrolyted and caloried.

    • @VSlim45
      @VSlim45 Месяц назад

      Yeah, I think it was a fuel issue. She bounced back pretty quickly. We did a 50k Spartan race a few years ago, but that's a little different with all the stops/breaks to do obstacles. And we did it in Tahoe in a snow storm, so there was no heat issues that day. She usually does around 15 to 17 miles, so this one was a bit longer than usual. Congrats on the 36 miles! She brought her own drinks, but took a drink of something they offered and it didn't sit well in her stomach.

    • @Smashycrashy
      @Smashycrashy Месяц назад

      @ i bring ginger chews from trader joes for when my stomach turns, i’ve been lucky enough that it has worked. They also have an awesome pure ginger tea (works in cold water too) that I haven’t got to try during a race. 15 to 17 regular long runs seem plenty long enough but sometimes you encounter those small things that ruin races at longer distances (like me realizing I under hydrated) or harder paces (or both). I am going to do the 50k route self supported (hopefully) next week, I’m curious to see what my 50k time for the course would be. I’ll have to carry enough water for 19 miles (Danielson Ranch has a faucet to refill) but can stash some around hell hill after 4.8 miles. Your wife can try again, she has you with your magic bike to carry everything. Mobile aid station and rescue. 😉 best of luck on her next race, I saw one of the Spartan videos you posted, she looked real strong.

      I don't think I could have done the whole ride that day. I've done a range test around the lake, but not the long way through Ojai. The range test I did killed the battery right at the end of my ride, just over 60 miles. There's a lot of climbing going through Ojai and around Lake Casitas. And I was on PAS 5 for the 1st 10 miles trying to meet up with him. I may try it one day, but like you said, it'll have to be on PAS 2 or maybe 3 at most, with a full charge.

    thank you another great ride and I went along ;) I live in North Idaho & there are miles of logging roads to ride on. my ebikes are ok for the park trail "legal" purpose Ive been wanting to see the 5 star on a dirt path on a long climb of a grade thats not a paved highway. my favored is the step thru & Ive asked several places about the ecells & the wired If they might be good for logging roads - [no replies as those folks were city street & rail trail type riders] I ask you about your opinion as I have seen you ride many place on & true off road. Ive seen you ride the wired & you have the 5 star [my guess is there is a difference & reasons you have an ecells ebike] my leaning is toward the ecells and "think" it might be a good one for the mountain roads. the grade up is 2 to 3 miles of 16% to 33% in a few places. my plan is to not go fast up these, fast enough to stay upright to maybe 12 (?) my ebikes are the 750 watt hubs and they go "if" ya get a run at it & they like to go 14 and faster, I prefer low n slow less shock on me & the bike. my hope its the step star will be good as the 5 star is impressive [to me it is] that hentech motor looks to be really good. Im hoping the ebike will be a good choice for my "want" to go where a loaded truck can go. Ive looked at AWD, but maybe a mid drive will be better. to see you take your up that long steep grade & to do the single track! wow that is impressive. is yours a torque sensor or cadence? most of my use might be throttle for control with some pedal (?) my ebikes are cadence and want to send me too fast. so I slow my pedal and that helps a lot. thanks for your videos, I really appreciate seeing them Ive been in the ventura are several times & driven some of the streets & of course the PCH :)
