My Custom Rotary Phone
I have swapped parts my Western Electric 554 wall mount rotary phone to put back the desktop phone back in action. I followed the schematic to make sure the wiring is correct. I also use the beige handset and dial to replace the old ones because of the piece inside the dial broke so I scrapped for a few days until I put a new handset and dial for the old case. This is to ensure that in the future, the landlord of any kind would appreciate having a desktop telephone without drilling holes all the time. So, Western Electric beige handset and dial in a Stromberg Carlson black case and ringer.

    I just picked this up from Goodwill for $15. My microphone doesn’t seem to work currently, are you having any issues with that? I wonder if I’m just not doing something right. I’m currently only power it off of AC power

      I had no issues with my camcorder whatsoever, that might be either a capacitor issue or something was unplugged or cut. The microphone seems worked just fine for mine.

    You sure it wasn't just the fact that the computer was reading the USB stick as the Primary Drive and therefore bootlooping to the setup everytime?

    • @JosephsNostalgicRevolution
      @JosephsNostalgicRevolution Месяц назад

      No, the Windows 98 was installed in this computer, and with USB driver that I got from PhilsComputerLab website. The primary drive is the hard drive with Windows 98. There are no signs of bootlooping during setup. It was a black screen in which it didn't show up the remaining of the setup. Probably because the graphics driver wasn't installed in this one. It's just an experimentation so you don't have to deal with the pain like I am.

      @@JosephsNostalgicRevolution Yeah you should had waited for that camera battery to charge.. that is if you care about the quality of the video.. which is something you probably should. Also the software and hardware capture for pc exists.. the modern pc you can get something like bandicam and that retro pc.. there exist video capture cards. Also I never said anything about other people using your video.. I was saying you should had done that yourself because it has a lot of crap that doesn't need to be in the video, to convey the point. This video should had been cut down to a minute and a half at max, prior to uploading.

The operating system doesn’t matter. What matter is the software that sits on top and makes you productive. The OS is essentially a fashion choice. With 10 Microsoft has fixed all of the issues I had with Windows reliability (having XP die on my four month old laptop while I was on vacation was the last straw). There isn’t much functional difference in operating systems now. I use more than one because I like messing around. That’s why I built my new computer with an AMD 8700G processor. To mess around. See if I can make an NPU do something useful for a project idea. I have a half dozen virtual machines, basically for messing around. Breaking shit is fun 🤩.

      @@waynesworldofsci-tech I used to break every computer by downloading something that wasn't meant for the family computer back in the day, when I got my own computer, I didn't download too much anymore. just basic minor things for the computer and that was it. Of course drivers was the thing I didn't notice what to add and didn't even know about at the time. When I got in trouble for too much downloading, I took a break for two years between 2008-2010 until I figured it out to logged back in the computer. I was very young at the time when I inappropriately searched the internet. That was a thing of the past now. My dad once told me that he used to set his computer like 5 times before he got it to boot for the first time with Windows 3.1 and I was too young to remember Windows 98 at the time or 95, so I figured Windows XP was my choice of my childhood. I was born in 2000 so I was in that period correct timing for XP.
