Almost my whole life as an adult I have been hearing that nuclear fusion is just around the corner. Apart for the few hydrogen bombs set of experimentally and the small contribution fusion may play in a plutonium bomb, we have never yet had a sun fire in a bottle on the face of the earth for more than a couple of fractions of a second. Now, 21st century, it is clear that our type sun fuses matter very deep down inside and the rate is quite slow, the vast quantity of EM radiation emitted from the surface coming from bulk, not rapidity. I do not believe that fusion will happen this millennium and modern fission power generators should already be under mass production but only within peaceful and stable societies.

As a legitimate member of the old guard of the polymaths of the world, a university graduate of more than 80 years in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geology and the multiple biological sciences required for a multiple specialist in Medicine, I wish to comment on the offerings of this Group. I was dismayed and enraged by the closing of comments on Dr William Happer's presentation particularly as the Q & A was so pathetic. Is there no surviving scholar to take you through the brilliant work of many people discovering cycle by cycle the solar and galactic origins of NATURAL climate variability. We know so many: The oscillation of the orbit of earth around the sun from near circular to quite elliptical, the precession of the spinning globe, the periodic conjunction of the planets all on the same side of the sun together and more, including the solar system passing through the spiral arms of the galaxy. The current predominating cycle is the Grand Solar magnetic fluctuation, heralding that already there is a very prolonged pause in its proxy, the sunspots and indicating a cooling period which may be as severe as the Maunder minimum.

Correlation is not equal to causation. Using flawed models that have failed to make valid predictions almost every time in the past 30 years invalidates the fear-inducing "predictions" presented here. Just extend the timeframe back to 1900 to see that the Dust Bowl 1930s were much more extreme, with 100F+ up to 125F in North Dakota. Princeton Professor Emeritus Dr. William Happer presented an excellent discussion on the subject that presented history, math and data in a logical manner. Also the timeframe has been extended back many times beyond the 1900s. Climate predictions have constantly failed. I remember when they predicted by the late '90s we would no longer have any snow in Colorado and buy 2010. We would no longer have any ice sheets or glaciers. I've lost all confidence. I don't believe in this anymore. It's fear-mongering from money and power. Other qualified scientists make contrary analysis that are very convincing. Might does not make right and when you add governments and politicians it dirties it. By the one gentleman speaking and talking bad about a president shows you how partisan this has become. Climate change is now no longer science but a religion

bacteria analogy: in two minutes they are NOT running out of room, they will just have no space to grow anymore, but if they are happy to fully populate the bottle, then everything is fine, the consequences will be, they cannot reproduce the same rate they did before - but still they can (the consequences are not their sudden death), is like You cannot have 4 kids instead of 2, as long as their cell division is adapted to how many individuals die, everything will be fine.

No there’s specialist are you wouldn’t get that perception the way you squeezed it in

@leonis, *The Western historians and linguistic researchers need to find out the common origin of European languages. They claim most of the Indo-European languages have their source base in Steppe (Kurgan hypothesis), Central Asia Yamnaya or Anatolia, but in all of that one thing is common i.e there is no Indian/Aryan in any of the Indo European, be it language, philosophy, culture or other source base. I am wondering why they use the prefix 'Indo', why can't they call anything concerned with European history to Steppe, Central Asia Yamnaya or Anatolia etc, etc etc.....*. *Further, on one hand they don't want to admit the source base of European languages is in India i.e Sanskrit since that is our ancestral and the present 'storehouse' of Vedic Aryan lore, but at any given opportunity call everything Indo-European.*

The IE theory and the Kurgan hypothesis are lies just like it is a lie that the Iliad and the Odyssey were written 400 years after the Trojan War, as writing did not exist at that time. In the Iliad itself it is mentioned that a folding tablet was used for writing messages. In Book VI of the Iliad, during the Trojan War, the messenger Talthybius brings a folding tablet to Achilles from Agamemnon. The tablet is used to convey Agamemnon's message, which requests that Achilles return to battle. The passage reads: “Then he set down before him a tablet and stylus and began to speak. 'Son of Peleus,' he said, 'now take it to heart, if any word of mine can find grace with you. Disaster is looming over the whole host of the Achaeans, and you are needed to help them, for the day of doom is at hand." (Iliad, Book VI, lines 252-255)

I would have an injection every week if it would restore my sight - I don’t care how it’s administered if there was just something that worked

Joe, a couple of observations here: the Eurocentric limitations of this presentation were brought into stark relief when you stopped short of making any mention of the INDIAN family of INDO-European languages, except of course for Sanskrit. Interestingly, the largest number of Indo-European languages are to be found within the Indian subcontinent. Also, a scholarly Linguistic presentation such as yours holds itself up to an exemplary calibre of Pronunciation. Noteworthy here is that your pronunciation of just 2 Non-European words, as an illustration, evince a colonially denigrating attitude, albeit unintentionally: IRAN became “AYE-ran” only upon American imperial conquest. Similarly Tamil, for all the pride this remarkably ancient language lays claim to with just cause, is much closer to Thum-ul. Hopefully, with the passage of time, these areas of need have been addressed.
