Silly Little Fugue | Original Composition in D-Minor
Noteworthy features of this fugue:
→ the fugue subject is extremely short, as is the whole piece, but it still contains a complete development of the subject including three episodes, inverted entries (highlighted in green), and a stretto section
→ the piece is written in 12/16: each bar has four beats consisting of three 16th notes
The fugue has 4 parts and is written for one player.

Theme and Variations in G-Minor | Original Composition

I’ve been busy with other projects lately, so here is a piece I composed about five years ago. I recorded this with my mobile phone back then, on my slightly detuned piano with my mediocre playing skills. I didn’t know counterpoint yet and hardly any music theory. It’s a nice document of the way I’ve come as a composer. Have a nice day! ^^

Notable features of this invention (also included in the CLOSED CAPTIONS for closer analysis) → the subject is used in inversion at 0:12, 0:45, and 1:17 → there are partial stretto entries at 0:21 and 0:53 → there is a sequence with the head of the subject at 1:08 Have a nice day! ^^
Final Countdown Fugue (for rock band) | Original Composition in F♯-Minor

Noteworthy features of this fugue: → this is a so-called stretto fugue (or “close fugue”), where the subject and the answer overlap already in the exposition; this works because I use a tonal answer, which happens to be in invertible counterpoint with the tail of the subject (i.e., the piano riff of the song) → at 0:56, a variation of the subject is overlayed by the melody of the song lyrics → ...

Noteworthy features of this fugue: → the piece starts and ends in b-minor, but it has a large section in b♭-minor, hence the title → this section starts in bar 38 (1:36), which marks the end of the shorter side of the golden ratio → the end of the larger section of the golden ratio falls in bar 62 (2:36) and coincides with the introduction of the inverted subject, which is alluded to in the pre...

Noteworthy features of this fugue (also included in the CLOSED CAPTIONS for closer analysis) → the answer modulates to the minor dominant as late as in the third measure, and the subject modulates back to the tonic in the last beat of the first measure → the tail of the subject has two implied voices: the lower one also features in the countersubject, the upper one (or its first bar) is sometim...

    I liked the dee's and the du's, i didn't hear too many dums though. You have a serious academic awesome brooding touch to your music but it also springs because of its baroqueness, you're one of them genius composers that is universes above any popular songwriters of our day, akin to the giants of old. Chopin became famous by taking the popular music of his day and using his genius to make masterpeices out of that style, perhaps I should recommend writing a genius pop song so you can get more recognition.

    How many corrections do you do to turn up a work of this scale?

    • @averynhiell
      @averynhiell 4 дня назад

      @@BANERJEEWB Interesting question! My process is usually a bit chaotic: while writing the fugue, I revise the part I have already written over and over again. So, I do most of the corrections not afterwards, but during the process. Once I have finished a piece, I polish it, add dynamics, and finally show it to my private music teacher. Sometimes, he suggests a thing or two that I might want to consider changing. In the fugue at hand, I took his advice to make the ending more extensive and satisfying. Does that answer your question? (:

    • @BANERJEEWB
      @BANERJEEWB 4 дня назад

      @@averynhiell yes it answers my question mostly. The thing is, you write a beginning part of the work. Then write the next part. But then you think I must change the beginning. so you change the beginning. then you see that the following part must be modified. Does it happen? I'm planning to upload an organ work and thought that I will just improvise the different parts and join them together. No hassle.

    • @averynhiell
      @averynhiell 4 дня назад

      @@BANERJEEWB Yeah, it’s sometimes like that. I usually just play the part I have already written over and over again-to familiarise myself with the piece, to get a feeling for how I want to continue, and to look out for things to smooth out. Then, I write a few more measures and repeat the process. Sometimes, I’m not sure if I’m happy with how a certain part turned out, so I listen to the piece or a section of it again and again in order to figure out what to do. Changing one part seldom affects the next part, unless it’s a really radical change. But that’s just how I go about it. Other approaches are totally valid as well. <3

    I know you're only writing fugues but this Melody has the feeling of a sonata in it to me or justice sonata any kind of tone poem

    and now its autumn again. bravo! alas, where i live we have precious few autumn leaves, mostly palm fronds and strange evergreens that are sharp and with a different feel. but now its autumn again, because the light says so....and the cooler nights...

    This is awesome stuff! I've always wanted to explore fugal writing in styles other than baroque / classical, but lacked the skill to pull it off. Here you have what's essentially a rock & roll fugue, it's just cool beyond words. Only thing missing, if one could be permitted to complain, is the obligatory electric guitar solo cadenza to top it all off. Add that, and this piece would be perfection. ;-)

      Wow, thank you so much for your words, this means a lot to me! <3 I really enjoy exploring different styles while maintaining the fugal form. Yes, I actually considered adding a guitar solo. The section after the exposition (starting at 0:49) is supposed to be reminiscent of one, although I think guitar solos usually occur later in rock songs and are also longer (I don’t know much about rock music). Thank you for the hint, I will consider it in case I ever write a rock n roll fugue again. ^^
