My Reve D MC01 base setup for resin, p tile and concrete surfaces. I’ll add my gyro, servo and esc settings shortly in the description here! EDIT: the shocks are 14mm between the points not 44mm, I have no idea why I did that lmao Also the castor spacers are 3.3mm behind the upper arm to produce approx 10deg castor Enjoy #rcdrift #drifting #radioconrolled #drift #rwd #reved
Left side is the Port side which is red.
Very helpful video, thanks!
Is it worth trying the ‘side wall’ glue?
Yes, it’s a little thicker than the normal tyre glue so doesn’t run as easy
I like to ask a question about your drift car, on the slide rack what advantage does the ball end bottom hole give you. Thanks Brian.
Hi, it changes the bump steer, if you have a lower, stiffer car you might want to try the lower hole
I've got the Yokomo SD 2.0 and this 3 year old video helped me to take enough slop out of mine to feed the hogs. The factory recommended setting was extremely loose.
Were you having issues getting your steering to return to center as well?
No it was just very loose and sloppy. I had the special screws with the line on top oriented how the manual stated but once I adjusted them about 15°clockwise each it was good. Still moves left and right well but no extra play before it moves
Got any tips on where I could get spares for one of these, I've got the old works edition (Anodised purple aluminium chassis) sat in my cupboard in need of much needed TLC, its been stuck there for over a decade now. I'd love to get my old race car back up and running
Works parts are hard to find now, this one’s like a sport with the red chassis
Do you find anti roll bars helpful with this car? I was wondering if it could be good for grass and astro.
Yes sometimes on the rear if it’s grippy Astro
Thanks for the reply. Presumably you would use only a light one?@@tunkstune9373
I made a few from piano wire, I think 1.5mm is a good starting point
Where is the “chart” you were talking about?
So if your running cougar 2 parts do you have to run it in that year at revival?
Yes, up to 93 is the year group I race it in 👍🏻
What motor/gearing is that? Do you run the pro diff?
Usually 89/20
Great video, have subscribed! Any chance of sharing an STL file for your lipo / stiffener creation? I am restoring my club 10 and plan to convert to brushless and shorty lipos. Someone suggested I check out your videos before drilling my chassis as I'd rather not drill it. Would be interested to know what filament you used also to make it stiff. Cheers!
+1 for this! Would love to try and print one. 😊
I thought he said he was going to make and sell those plates, they look awesome! I'd definitely buy one and could probably sell half a dozen more for him
@@NZsurfe he has them on eBay now I’ve seen.
@@oddjob_fpv Thanks mate, just found them and ordered one 👍
Did you win ?
2nd in that one, 5.5t is lairy 😂
Faster Mathew, Faster.....
One day I’ll be as good as you boss 😅
Love it, i’ll drop my cougar on your table friday, just needs a nice up for me at revival 👍😂
Nice driving, Matthew!
Looking good 👍🏻 handles better over the jumps than mine 😁
what about rear skid angle?
Hi bud, im still building my club 10, rr chassis race pack etc. The whole cars been fully rebuilt. Ive put a hobbywing max10 combo sensord motor & esc. Geating is spur 89 tooth and pinion 26 tooth. Im guessing it will be fast but do you think the diff will last? Im not racing it just fun on tarmac and grass every now and then
I noticed you have alloy pivot blocks on the back end………any idea who stocks these, are they cougar specific or are they from another car……..can’t find them listed anywhere. Cheers
They are Schumacher parts, known as 1/8 pivot blocks, they designed them into multiple cars they produced. I have asked for them to be re released 😊
Guy did I hear correctly 😮 you said cougar 2 rear bulkheads go for 50 pounds 🤪 no way lol im in the process of restoring my Team cougar 2. I thought those parts were easy to get hold of? Lucky I have been collecting parts for many many years lol
👍
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
I head 1.2 degrees and 3 degrees of rear toe. What one was this setup running?
.7 from memory
Love you front end mod
Nice cougar! Do you have a part number for your rear hubs? And the front hubs and carriers your using.
Great looking car! Will the chassis strengthen plates be available to buy? They look very useful! Thanks and keep the content on this car coming!
Hi Nathan, possibly, I need to draw a cleaner version that covers the re release chassis holes for mounting.
@@tunkstune9373 that’s great news. If they do become available put me down for one!! Thanks and keep us updated on the car. See you at the euro masters!
I am also interested in your chassis strengthening plate. Great video by the way. I'm about to build my Cougar Classic for summer.
I like your videos a good review from someone who actually races them , not someone who just builds them with every option to stick on the shelf . I have never raced off road before, but just got a Cougar and Procat to have a go at vintage off road. What servo saver do you recommend as the ones in the kits look just like the ones that came with the 1/12 cars and they where rubbish.
Thanks 🙏 On my cat xls I run the Schumacher impact U4328 with pukka parts ballraced pivots. On the Cougar I run a solid alloy core one with a decent metal gear servo. For learning I’d probably run the impact saver just until you get used to it.
What size spur and pinion u using with the 13.5t
83/29 to start testing
It was actually an 80/26 combo for Silverstone buggy clubs long straight but id drop back to 89/25 for a shorter one
Great video, what Schumacher shocks are you using?
Thanks Mark, the shocks are the unbuilt big bores U7132 and U7131. You need to buy the springs separately 😊
@@tunkstune9373 would it be possible if you could give me the parts and numbers needed to fit the front and rear shocks please?
It’s in the video with the oil and piston setup 👍🏻
Really great video, Matthew! Learnt a lot from it. Good pointer about the motor screws washers - never would have thought about that.
With all the Dells racing kit we both snapped up. We could start are own shop. We could be called. “The Dell ends” 😁
Thank you for your review Matthew, its great to see what you dot for the hobby, there are many herds in the hobby, its good you help many others, you should be winning with the Silverstone lot as most that race there are rubbish.
No problem Chris, I’m glad you liked the video. Please come up to the club to help get the driving standard up 🤞🏆
W vid your the Top G
Thanks 😊 Sadly I can’t take credit for it
Lots of familiar faces too 👌
An old haunt of mine, miss the club racing days
what spur & pinion you use bro? so nice
I race dirt oval and I never put the o ring in the shock collar and it never moves once you have the spring compressed against it. It's way easier to change ride height if need be.
It’s not worth the additional worry of them moving, once the collar o rings are oiled they are not locked into place
Awesome video mate, this is very handy information for me as I’m excited to receive the re release of the cougar later this month. Just one quick question is putting big bore shocks a straight swap or is there any modification needed. Cheers Andy
Hi Andy, I need to do an updated version of the car on video. Will try soon
Very good and understandable tips!! Hope you make more drift tune videos like turbo and boost settings?
Hi Matthew - and they finally did rerelease it - well, a Mk. 1 - I know you pre-ordered a kit right away :-)
The best drift shock setup tips I've watched so far! @29:57 the drill bit you used "1.5mil", do you mean mil as in mm? Link on the drill bit? Running my YD2S plus on smooth concrete in my garage. Thank you.
Is there any way you can give us the measurement for the caster how many spacers on top and on the bottom in the front??
Are you sponsored ? - if you are, how did you become sponsored ?
Hi, for drifting I’ve been sponsored since 2010 but racing probably 2005 ish I think
What shims are you use? 4x6mm ??
хорошие видео)) Спасибо. Если можно сделайте обзор на подбор пружин, в этом видео моло информации о пружинах и их настройке)))
What about a weight transfer tune any tips?
Can you do a tip on building a dif i am new to drift rc scene I don’t know if I did mine correct mine spins a lot or is supposed to have a hard move meant finger spin
The video is too zoom out to see what your pointing I really want to learn about the d5 😅😄
Good video, Attic Pitspace?
Yes mate, gets a bit nippy this time of year 👀
@@tunkstune9373 yeah I bet, been adding new lighting up in our loft today, as all my stuffs up there. May need to add a table

Nice video...
Nice video! What stiffness would you use to the spring for drifting and why? Oil has to be thin for fast rebound? Why not thick? Also are these changes feel-able or it is just a go to emulating full scale...?
Springs have a point of being able to hold the weight of both the chassis and your chosen body where they are at their optimum range. I’ll try and make a video soon on how do find that point as it’s pretty difficult to explain. The thinner oil is to reduce a thing called pack, it’s to do with the surface tension of the oil, faster initial reaction needed to absorb the vibrations from plastic tyres. Visually and hand eye “feel”
