Brrrr, now that really did look like a typical Autumnal day, the mist must have dropped the temperature by a couple of degrees. I hope that when the new station finally opens, it's a lot busier than it is now. That chap at 5 minutes walking towards you looked like a movie star, I hope you paid him plenty for starring in your film Dave. 🙂 Another successful video from the Adamson Film Studios.
Hi Barry, it did feel cold, a proper autumn day, I agree, I hope the new station is busier then it is now, but saying that this current station closes 2025 and the new one opens 2028, that chap seems to be in most of my movies, Like Clint Eastwood being in Malpaso Productions 🙂
@@daveadamson3629 of course, I'd forgotten about Mr Eastwood. Perhaps that chap really is a famous star, and wants to be in your productions, to bring more fame and fortune. That's a long wait for the new station.
@@barrywa39 it is a long wait unfortunately, but i think it will be worth it, Hopfuly fortune will come our way, of couse, we will remember our supporters 🙂
Enjoyed taking a narrow boat up this canal many years ago behind the foreboding LB Holidays works. We stopped the traffic at Turnbridge as we opened the lifting bridge. Aspley was the end of the line, then as the narrow canal had not as yet been reopened
that's great, did you stay in Aspley long?
No, just one night. Unfortunately we had to return the boat to Robinson's Hire Cruisers at Dewsbury Canal basin.
@@darleytransportandtravel6353 the one in Savile Town? That's local to myself, I hope you had a great time on the Narrow boat
Wow, more memories brought back to me watching this one Dave. When I worked for Direct Training, we had our Huddersfield office at Riverside House at Aspley Marina, and on our official opening day of the office, we had canal cruises for the visitors, and staff. I caught a quick glimpse of the building on the video. Alas, Direct Training closed down in 2006, so they aren't in the building anymore. Loved the video, and with the sound of the water, it was very relaxing.
Thanks for the interesting story Barry, I am glad you like the video, I try to make my videos relaxing if not educational, myself and Adrian need to interview you with your excellent experiences ❤❤❤

Thank you for the video Dave. The number of times that I walked past when I worked in Wakefield, and never paid attention. Thank you too for the wave in Asda yesterday.

That's changed too Dave. Last time I was there, Waterstones were actually in the shopping centre I think. Can't believe that the old BHS store is still boarded up. Is WH Smith still inside? I like the look of that antiques centre, just my cup of tea. I used to buy stuff from a Chinese herbalist called Dr and Herbs that was on the lower level, and bought a few Vivienne Westwood ties from TK Max in there. Thanks for bringing back memories.
@@barrywa39 hi Barry, glad you enjoyed the video, WH smith is located in the main part of trinity walk now, I think BHS is located near the reel cinema, the antique stores do sell amazing things, one does books and artwork only, you can get great finds there 🤠👍
@@daveadamson3629 BHS closed down a number of years ago I think, possibly went into liquidation.
Crikey, it's changed since the last time I walked through, about 12 years ago when I left my job in Wakefield. Thank you for filming it Dave.
@@barrywa39 it's one of the reasons I recorded the area, besides trying out the GoPro 12 (which was state of the art until the 13 came out), I wanted to capture the look of the area, a bit like the videos of the old 8mm films of the 60's and 70's,, capturing a day in the life sort of thing, may not be interesting at the time but people will see the changes in the future, Thank you for the continued support and views kind Sir 🤠👍🙏

Excellent video again Dave. I've never been to Leeds on the bus, just the train. It's a while since I last went. Shocked at all the roadworks near the railways station. Years ago, I used to go to Granary Wharf under that bridge, that sadly closed a while back. Boar Lane looked different. My usual areas were the Victoria Quarter.

The memories this video conjures up! My grandmother's brother, Joe, had his first married home in that terrace and he played cricket for Thornhill on the ground in the park. One of her sisters-in-law was married to the owner of Cross Farm, about a mile away, sadly now built over. My school's archaeological society did some excavations on the Rectory site and I fished in the Rectory moat. I saw this and dug out some very old family photos; they are now being passed around my own children and grandchildren.
that is great to hear! did you get a decent catch in the moat? did the school find any finds in the dig. I am glad you are keeping the history alive by sharing the photos with your family 🙂
There wasn't much of any size in the moat, although I caught an occasional perch. Maggots and small worms usually brought only sticklebacks. The archaeologists found a few interesting pieces but not of great importance or value. @@daveadamson3629
