Great video! I have tons of palletwood. Time to make some pumpkins!
Adam Mathis thanks! I need a few more myself!
Michael, I get to Walmart to buy the paint and there are two types satin and gloss. I pulled up your video to see which one you bought. But I did buy a few other things!
Nice job Micheal!
Dark Horse Woodworking thanks!

Blakeswork thank you!!!
Nice job my woodworking bro! Turned out great. I love working with reclaimed wood too. :)
Thanks! Yup, reclaimed fits my budget and style.
Michael, I'd love to have you stop by my way sometime. By the way, I subscribed. I hope I can earn yours too. Good luck!
Really interesting points made and some great comments made by others; well worth a read. I have dealt with a few copyright issues (albeit in a seperate country with different laws and focusing on books rather than manufactoring) but it highlights how reliant we are on community enforcement when laws are not clear or not heavily policed by authorities. Ultimately I think it comes down to our human nature to do something for gain if its easy (the IP is accessible) and there are no immediate (or unclear) repercussions. However, I think through these discussions people gain a better understanding of copyright - become more aware of the impacts / repercussions and so become better enforcers in their respective communities which we rely so heavily on.
Succinct and well-stated. I totally agree. The accessibility of it all makes it tough. Thanks for watching/commenting!
so, I have a CNC and am making a box for my skull challenge. I am not an artist so I googled search skull and found an image that I like. I programmed the image and now it is cut. the Box is my product but what does that make the skull cover. Is the whole thing stolen. Plus, I made the box as a gift (non-production). And, I removed a lot of the orignal artist accents to the skull. Life is complicated -
Yours is more a situation of presentation. Are you presenting the design of the skull as yours or the work? probably not. Your single gift piece isn't killing their potential revenue either. I think the impact can have a lot to do with how we interpret things.
look - I stole this comment. LOL
Great information. while some want to capitalize on their creations and copy right it, others are out there willing to share it for free. Thanks to the internet, there is enough free stuff that there's no need to take copy righted material. It's a question of morals. I strongly believe that if a person takes something with out permission, that person acquires bad karma. That's why thieves are always broke or encountering misfortunes. Good topic Michael, Thumbs up.
Thanks, Orely! I totally agree. The folks putting stuff out there mostly want to build up others and many will provide even more help than their free models and plans!
I quite liked this video man! You brought up some really excellent points here. I really liked the concept of the aura of a piece! Is the aura imbued upon a piece as the human is creating the piece or once it's done? It is essentially, the *soul* or the *life force* of the piece... Do cloned sheep have a lifeforce? If so, then why not a digital reproduction? :) Because it is a true and pure copy of the original in every sense of the word, are you also duplicating the aura? How many transplants can a person receive before they are no longer themselves? 10%? 51%? 99%? As long as their brain is intact, they are still themselves? Are the heads in the jars from Futurama, still as much as themselves as when they were whole? Welcome to the tangential rabbit hole that is my brain :D
Thank you! I think the piece could have aura before it's completed, but it gets really complicated after that. Cloned sheep are a great example, but since their DNA is the same and not their gestation/zygote/birth/life, the "clone" being unexact would have it's own aura, not entirely dissimilar from the original, and not none. The head of the mona lisa would still be the head of the mona lisa, right? That was kind of how I felt listening to you guys talk about it. It really got my brain working again. I haven't debated media theory in the better part of a decade!
Michael Lawing so the DNA is the same, but everything after is what makes it an individual... Is DNA not akin to the digital file and the 3D printer the birthing process? Or what if the 3D print is just the start of the final product... what if it requires finishing work/painting that different people do in different ways? is then just the finishing work the art, and the 3d print just the canvas? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I think the human (sheep) input in birthing dolly the clone sheep would be enough to keep us from being able to tell, but you might be right. If it's the start of the project, it might not be too far from comparing the print to stock materials. That doesn't remove the legal/moral issues, but the end product isn't the same or even similar. I think the finishing work is definitely where we see the art, but to what degree is the art authentic or maintaining its own aura?
very dangerous vloging and driving ! I was watching it while driving and you almost hit me !!.....😂...very cool talk man
Hey, I only ran one redlight and no one was hurt! Thanks for watching, Steve!
Funny!
Great topic!
Right? I heard their podcast and couldn't help but ramble on about it. Thanks for watching!
perfectly said Michael!! thanks for the mention!!
Thanks Ray. I think your video really illuminates how cutthroat it is to put out a product while at the same time having craftsmanship and quality design stave off "true" copies.
- but I think he stole - the comment - "Don't be a d-bag" LOL
lol
Sweet! I've never had a glue up explosion before...nope, never...not at all...😉
Lol. Right!? Thanks for watching!
What are you using for your camera panning effect?
The panning timelapse was done with a cheap egg-timer style panning timelapse head. I broke it immediately after that shot. I sometimes pan within the frame in post too, but you lose quality because you're effectively zooming in to have room for the video to not be full screen. That's a good reason to shoot 4K and edit in 1080p
Have you heard about salting the glue?Sprinkle some slt in the glue and the pieces won't slide around. REALLY! Good build!
Another cool project and pen Michael! Nice unicorn mask btw..
Thank you! More cool stuff coming soon!
I just watch also shogun Jimi make one of them !!! looks very interesting material; Where can I buy to try some of them ;;
Thanks for watching! I got my samples by going to the Dupont website and finding the closest region's distributor and requested a sample box. There are also brands like Avonite, Wilsonart, HIMACS, Meganite, and others that make solid surface countertop materials that you could glue up in the same way. I see DuPont distributors in Italy and Turkey at least.
Michael Lawing thank you very much for all those details bro I look for this brands around Greece !!
Ha, now I know why the texture of MDF is so crappy! Nice one.
Lol! Thanks for watching!
Wow! It turned out great. Great editing and you used one of my favorite songs of ours. I do have to say though, I think the unicorn is the one with all the skills.
Thank you! That was one of my favorite tracks too. Don't let him hear that - it'll go to his head!
Good looking ! And I also like unicorns.
Thank you! I thought it added a certain magical quality to the video...
Wait how did you write with the pen while still cutting the blank on your table saw, i'm calling time travel shenanigans !
Ah, you caught me! The blanks I turned were already cut, but I videoed a different set - the ones I glued in the video- going through the table saw. That or I'm a time traveler. Probably the latter.
Definitely the latter #Timelord
Nice job🖒
Opa's Workshop thank you!
Now it all makes since what you were talking about. Those look cool!
Thanks, Ryan! The one from the livestream might be my new favorite!
Nice video and the pens turned out amazing. Thumbs up Michael.
Thanks, Brother! It was a lot of fun!
Nice looking material. Never tried it.
Thanks, Willem. It can be hard to turn, but the ability to polish so finely makes it a dream! There are other manufacturers like Avonite, Meganite, Wilsonart, and HIMACS that might be more common in your area.
Freaking unicorns.....classic
Thanks for watching, Howie! He's sure to make an appearance in future videos!
really great looking pen man ,I gotta admit I was thinking "this hasn't got his usual sense of humour in it......" then .. nevermind 🐴😂
Lol, yeah I think I squeezed it in there! Thanks for watching!
Really cool results. Thanks for the nightmare fuel.
Thanks! I'll send you some more unicorn pictures later!
WOW!! I know you were just horsing around but those pens are mega beautiful!!
LOL. Thank you! I'm obsessed with the material!
little know fact - this remix thing - started the collaboration - called - Trash Talkin Jimi
Lol. I loved the idea when Hugo released his, so I jumped in immediately.
Very cool table. Reclaimed materials is right up my alley!
Thank you! I learned a lot and would change quite a bit, but the concept is working for us. Thanks for watching!
Very nice job!!! Like and subbed!!
*Nice To See. Happy Weekend.*
Canadian MDF!! that was damn funny!!
Thanks! Most people don't know how it's made!
