      @emilsundbaum5221 Год назад

      Any person who gets enraged or intoxicated has compromised amygdala and prefrontal function aswell. I agree with you to a large extent that in certain cases there shouldnt be punishment but rather confinement, for everyones safety. I think most people on death row have brain damage if i remember correctly. I think sapolsky said it in a lecture.

      @@emilsundbaum5221 Yeah, there is a disproportionate amount of traumatic head injuries in people on death row and in prison for murder, rape, and child molestation. I think a lot of our current justice system is taking people with literal brain damage and wanting to make them suffer because they didn't behave the way people with healthier brains do. Imagine if someone was in a permanent state of intoxication and our response to their misbehavior was to hate a dehumanize them instead of trying to get them help and that's what a lot of our criminal justice system is.

      It’s not necessarily the same, super ego and PFC are pretty analogous but the amygdala is more closely related to fear responses, i.e. fight or flight impulses. An overreactive or amygdala is what is responsible for anxiety, aggression and panic
