    Lewis Moody's charge down for Will Greenwood's try was the the kick-start for England. Many games later, in the final, he replaced Hilda in the final and saw it out to it's inevitable end. Such an unsung hero of that campaign.

    Why does /did Clive Woodword detest the Springboks? Consequently he is not liked by South Africans. Martin Johnson one he'll of a presence and Jonny Wilkinson, a fantastic goal kicker.

    1991 team got Phytologically distracted by Australia and our stupid media. saying all we knew was how to kick. We Went into that game trying to play Australia's game only for them to kick all their points apart from a dodgy knock on try. But not this time !.This time they knew they couldn't beat us with Wilkinson on the field so smashed him hard deliberately trying to cause him serious injury and nearly succeeded. Thankfully they didn't get away with it

      @@bancodepapa I am not surprised he did. Had they basically shut the door on the media gave nothing away, and just stuck to their plan chances are England would have lifted that trophy. They had just as good a kicker as Wilkinson in Rob Andrew, and big mouth Campesse knew it. Hence why they had to do everything they could to stop the English plan. Apart from 2015 thanks to the English RFU not leaving the manager to do his job we have made Australia pay ever since

      Bok fan here. In 2007, glimpses of this 2003 team appeared in 2007, but they were just not good enough when it mattered the most. What should sting the most was the 2019 loss. England was primed to dominate had they won that final against South Africa. But they were spent by that point following a monumental win against the All Blacks.

    The GREATEST achievement EVER by ANY England team in any sport. I remember we went and played the "Bad Guys" , all of them, prior to the world cup as a way of saying...this is us now...we can and will beat you. Here...Take this. Then, the physical asspect is immense...Rugby is like 15 a-side boxing. Physically demanding, no hiding, hurting...yet mentally draining. In these circumstances, this was an awesome example of the best of human nature. Still choke up watching it 20 years on.

    Never looked as dominant or convincing during the tournament than in the games leading up to it. Done just enough to win each game which is a true sign of a great side. That being said, there was little planning for when those marvellous group of players exited the stage. Still a great side though it did seem to usher in a trend for annoying corporate buzzwords, jargon and parlance.

    Poor England only one cup after 9 tournaments, (period of 43 years, 1987 to 2019}, winning did not last after 2003 win. Sir Clive Woodward criticised SA's play. But in 4 World Cup finals, and he was involved, England scored only one try. -- 75% loss rate. So how entertaining was their play ? Wales are playing the same way as SA and won the 6 nations. Lions before tour to SA , against Japan their back line in second half did not score a try. Then in 3 tests against SA their back line did not score a try - 0% not successful rate.. Only 2 tries after rolling malls, both which should have been disallowed because of truck and trailer (cheating by ref Nick Berry and Co.) So how entertaining was their play. Those who are jealous, or who wants to see basketball rugby, go and watch the 7th game. Rather win ugly, than lose by trying to play pretty.

    • @bancodepapa
      @bancodepapa 3 года назад

      Not sure your point.... Clive Woodward was lucky to have a generation of world beaters in Dallaglio, Hill, Johnson, Wilkinson, Robinson et al in 2003 2007 was a last hurrah for some of those players and Woodward was nowhere to be seen... Eddie Jones had revenge on his 2003 defeat by helping South Africa defeat them that year as assistant coach... Although his England side lost in 2019 to South Africa.... He actually masterminded the biggest upset in World Cup rugby history when his Japan side beat South Africa in 2015....
