Ovens River Fishing in Bright
Просмотров 66914 дней назад
Hello everybody hope your well. This video, I've headed on a 3hr 30min drive from Melbourne to Victoria's high country, Bright, to fish the Ovens River. My main target is to catch some wild brown trout on lures and hopping to get a few decent ones too. I love trout fishing and especially on lures, adventuring around various spots, hiking through terrain, it does not get much better than this. S...
Tooradin Jetty fishing
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.21 день назад
I have trekked down to Tooradin Jetty with one of my close mates in search of some good estuary fishing. This is a system I haven't fished in for over a decade now so I'm super excited to come back to this cool location. Tooradin has a range of species, all the way from the common Silver Trevally who packs a punch way above its weight, to the illusive Mulloway that despite being rare, have been...

Not too mentioned the stonkers I have caught up north in Queensland in their magnificent estuaries. This video will regard my top 10 favourite soft plastic...

these are the type of vids ive been lookin for keep posting
Nathan, thanks so much for the kind words. I’m very happy to hear your enjoying the vids man.
Nice Browns bro, also yes a blackfish you fished out of the river.
Thanks man. Yeah after I came back to the cabin and look over the footage and saw the pattern + tail. I knew it was one. He was decent too, hoping to go back and target them.
I went fishing for trout all the way down from Wangaratta to Cheshunt south and had no luck at all. I managed to see 3 lovely big crays and hand picked them then released them of course and I also saw 1 little turtle but no fish at all and I waded through the river all the way down south and did not see a single fish and even all the other people there fishing had not caught a single fish either. Very strange maybe it was too cold or something for them i spent a total of 4 days travelling down the river to the start of William hovell dam and absolutely nothing. Could be a good challenge for ya 👍🏻
Yeah, really weird I had so many follow ups on my lure, some of the trout were really big as well. I think the water still might be a little to cold but as the weather warms, I reckon trout will start to gain more confidence leading to my hookups. Anyway good fishing mate, hope you get some.
Great video! Surprising to see pinkie being caught in that region. Btw, is there a good chance of catching breams on soft plastics over there? Thanks!
Yes there is but you have to fish the river when it’s clear, so no rain within the the last weeks otherwise the break won’t bite.
@@FishingDownUnder1 cheers, for such valuable tip!
@guangdazhu7387 all good matey, hope you can catch some bream!
@@FishingDownUnder1 I will give a try in the next few weeks
@guangdazhu7387 good on you mate
Nothing better than fish on!
Exactly mate! Can’t beat it especially on lure.

♥️
Please
👍
Can you do a soft plastic vid at the same spot
Sure. I’m hopping to go these summer holidays and I’ll try my luck.
Love the port fairy vids that's were I saltwater fish. Is a 3 inch soft plastic good for those fish
Yes 100%. The guy next to me was using them and caught flathead and trevally.
Oh yeah I commented last time tried the river out amazinggg results lots of mullet only though what do you recommend I do to target these bream?? Been using chicken
Use worms or yabbies or prawns
@@FishingDownUnder1 would jan juc worms be good??
@j4deciuluave84 perfect mate. Cannot go wrong with jan juc worms.
What rig do you use??
Running sinker rig
@@FishingDownUnder1 thank you should make a video on how you do it and what you use keep up the amazing content 🙏🏾
@j4deciuluave84 I went last weekend but I struggled to catch. I was pretty busy this weekend hopping to get out next weekend
@j4deciuluave84 thanks mate
Cool, thanks for the info👍 I plan on going this season
Hopefully you can get some big trout
@FishingDownUnder1 Was going to try one of the recently stocked lakes around Melbourne tomorrow actually with some Tassie Devils so I'll see how that goes 🤞
@dssshearer1 yeah good on you mate. Fingers crossed, good luck!
Put in the hard yards and reap the rewards, well done!
100% mate!
Awesome stuff mate 🤙
Thanks so much for the support!!
@FishingDownUnder1 No worries bud, Just found your channel and love the local content 👌
Well done boys, I was into the Salmon a couple of weeks ago at Blairgowrie
The sandbos are super fun, especially on light gear at that size!
Oh wow, I thought he was talking about flathead catfish. I’m an idiot😑
27 is legal for a flathead, that's a joke
I know. Should be more, but as I said I stick to my limits and only try to keep flathead in the mid to high 30s
ARE YOU FOR REAL, PUT THEM BABIES BACK.
I’m sorry that this video has caused you distress. I usually don’t keep flathead unless they are in the high 30s, however, I respect my bag limits and size limits with the legal size for flatties for sand flathead in port Phillip being 27cm
Such cute little flatheads. You should treat yourself to a trip up to South East QLD and have some fun catching flathead and if you're lucky you may even catch a metre long one.
Good work boys, do you need to burley up or anything to net gars like this? Never done it but looks fun
No that’s the beauty of it. Just rock up to your local beach with some waiters and a prawn net and you can get some good fish.
Great video
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Hello, I am a beginner. Can I ask you a question? Can you tell me how to choose the right jighead weight?
Yes, it all matter with the current. Whenever I’m on the boat, the current is never to strong as I’m usually fishing in 10- 15knts winds. I always start with 1/6 ounce jig head size and only change my weight if I’m not getting anything from 1/4 to 1/8. In lakes and river you can’t go wrong with a 1/8 all the way to a 1/16, of course depending on the weight and size of the jig head (bigger soft plastic = heavier weight and vice versa). Hope that helps. There is so much to talk about so I can definitely make a video.
@@FishingDownUnder1 Thank you for your answer. It would be great if you could make a video.
Love ur vids, keep it up 🎉
Thanks so much for the kind words
Thanks mate, that explains a lot. Look forward to your eging video, cheers.
No worries
Hi, emeraldas mx 86mh.n vs 86mh.e, do you know what is the difference?? Thanks
The emeraldas mx 86mh.n is a newer rod (made in 2021and $200 dollars cheaper whereas the 86mh.e is an older model (made in 2020) but is more expensive. When is comes to squid rods you can't go wrong with either of the emeraldas as an expensive rod doesn't matter to much. I'm looking to upload a video on how to catch squid landbased which will cover everthign you need to know.
Nice vids bro! Just followed the channel ❤ have a peak at some of our content from Auckland nz 😊
Cheers mate
nice catch
Thank you very much!
Hey bro what area is that tiny pier at, love the video I've watched all your vids
Thanks so much bro, I’m afraid that the pier is privately owned so you won’t be able to fish off it as their is no access unless you have a house there. Obviously, I was with my mate and they have access to this pier, sorry for the inconvenience.
@@FishingDownUnder1 can you get there by boat or close to that area
@@hasanaziz7846 you would be able to get within our casting distance as there is a long band of reef stretching across.
On the boat just go out in 3 meters of water, and gently drift with the wind pushing you either using baits or soft plastics and you’ll catch some decent fish
@@FishingDownUnder1 thanks bro I'll give it ago and let you know how it goes cheers👍
A great video of catching very little. Nice 🎉
Glad you enjoyed it
@@FishingDownUnder1 I did, catching more than I do!
Ha-ha that's not big, I have seen em double that size
Yeah I know right they get huge! Haha
Still, 70 cm not bad
What a team !
Man, you have a library of well edited videos on the go.. Well done! I like this format with the intro pulling out at home, getting to the ramp, motor over to the spot bit of a talk of the targets in mind. Yah great work mate, only a matter of time before pick up subs
Thankyou so much mate for the support. Really appreciate it!
Oh I been searching for squid around hervey bay in winter and no one seems to know where to get em.. or they're not saying :D
Try fishing in 2-4 meters in water (if you have a boat) and fish in the heavy weed areas. Otherwise land based just fish near reefs, weed and rocky structure.
@@FishingDownUnder1 hey thanks, yah just a matter of finding some spots. I got a fishing jetski a month ago and still exploring :D
Well good luck fingers crossed you can catch some big calamari!
Where abouts is this spot?
Around Granville on the beach
Grantville
Omg I have never seen anyone fish a squid...wow.
I've heard they are good eating, but I've never had one. How are they?
I would say the best ‘sea creature’ to eat. They are so good and easy to clean to.
I didn't realize I needed to see a squid being karate chopped, but I did. Subscribed bro.😉
Thanks for the sub!
Nice little morsel there. Lol. Good stuff.
Thanks 👍
monster
Always fun fishing along there. Worms or even unweighted bread works a treat. Mullet can live quite easily in brackish water but you'll find it's pretty salty quite high up in the Nong.
Yeah very true. Thanks for the tips!
Do you have a video on setting up your rods for fishing? Hooks, weights, bobs, etc?
I have a rigs video which explains most of that stuff. It is called DIY rigs.
What area are u fishing
Fishing around Clifton springs
Wow I had no idea that was a thing
Yeah very common way to put out squid
Poor squid
Compared to the squid bought at the shop, that is nothing. The squid was sustainably caught and quickly put out, it didn’t feel a thing.
❤❤🎉
Thankyou
👍
Thankyou
Good fishing, as I live in Queensland I don’t usually stop in Melbourne and just go the way to Tasmania where you catch the salmon and squid. The flat head I’ve found are easy catching in Queensland beaches especially in the areas around Hervey Bay to Bundaberg
Yeah thanks mate. Queensland is great I love fishing up there in the estuaries. Melbourne and Victoria has some great fishing in both freshwater and salt. If you ever get a chance stop over and have a fish it will be worth it.
@@FishingDownUnder1 maybe, I don’t usually go freshwater fishing for fish because apart from a couple the fight isn’t a long one and is easy I do enjoy using a pot to catch Redclaw though
Nice catch mate
Thanks
