Fishing with JC
Добавлен 13 ноя 2011
I absolutely love fishing - it is my passion. Join me as I fish for just about any fish that swims, and just about anywhere they swim. I mainly fish ponds, lakes and rivers for bass, catfish and panfish, but I also love fishing for the ever elusive musky. My adopted state of West Virginia has many lakes and rivers that produce muskies in the 30" - 50" variety. Let's go fishing!!

2018 Muskies Inc. Chapter 9 Annual Meeting
I live in Elkins, and I try to make it there every weekend that I can. SJL is one of the most relaxing places on earth, for me. If bigger fish aren’t biting, I’m happy to catch crappie all day. If they aren’t biting, I enjoy the ride from Vandalia boat ramp to the resort. It’s a win/win every time. Traffic can get a little rough on the lake, but it’s never terrible.
Yea, it's my favorite WV lake. Mainly because of the muskies, but I enjoy catching those really big bass that reside there. For some reason, I fish the skin creek side more than the resort side. Next spring ima force myself to put in on the resort side and fish it.
@@fishingwithjc8475 I most definitely prefer Skin Creek for the fishing aspect. Once you get near the dam, it seems like there’s a lot more recreational boating going on. There’s a few good coves up that way and what not, but there’s a lot more water disturbance with all the PWCs and Pontoons zipping around. But, that’s just my personal preference. The best luck I’ve had at the lake has been near Hog Hollow Bridge on Skin Creek.
@GuitarGuru357-rz9eb I fished that area this spring. I went under the bridge and fished to the left. There's a nice flat with a drop off. Nice water.
So my network port on my black box is ruined. Do you happen to know where I can find that small piece?
I would recommend calling garmin. Their customer service is great.
Just FYI if you ever out in saltwater or brackish you can NEVER ground to the boat itself. Always ground to battery, you’ll eat your boat alive inside out from galvanic corrosion. Otherwise looks good brother!
Thanks for the tip.
A+ Patience and persistence paid off !
Thanks, and it's still my biggest fish. I'm hoping to change that this year. Fingers crossed 🤞.
Loved the video im gonna try that location
I haven't been back there in a long time, but it's usually pretty good. You never know what you're gonna catch. Thanks for watching.
What battery do you recommend for the 93sv
In my new boat I bought I bought an amped outdoors lithium. It was the 80 amp hours model, and it runs my whole system all day.
@@fishingwithjc8475 ok thanks for the reply my man i just purchased the bundle and it comes today im soo excited and nervous at the same time because im new to it and want to get the correct battery for it, i seen in website that the 93sv can only take up to 32 ah
I have never seen anyone change clothing so many times in a video. Jist to end up in a towel. Im interested to know what your thinking was doing that?
Just being silly, lol. I'm sick like that 😃.
My Dad was the superintendent of the hatchery when they started the Muskie program back in the 60s. After that they started the Stripper production and distribution.
Interesting. We're supposed to get a new hatchery soon....supposedly. Our stocking efforts have been subpar lately, and I'm worried for our future musky populations. I know some natural reproduction exists, but it's not sufficient to maintain a healthy number of fish.
You just need a good partner to help keep you motivated 🎣🎣💯👍🐢
I went back and fished it again and hooked into a mid 30s that jumped off at the boat. I really do like it. Tight lines, my friend.
@@fishingwithjc8475 always..I caught a tiger muskie Bass fishing with no leaders lol it was 30 inches but great excitement for my wife and 1 yr old who already loves fishing lol still can't find what he did with my realtree fishing 🤠..good luck and who knows might run on to each other before snow fly's 🎣🍀🐢💯
@michaelmetz9198 I've always wanted to catch a tiger musky. I've never caught a pike either. I need to head north and get on em.
@@fishingwithjc8475 I'll send u a pic ,I tried to show my family how to carefully gill one lol and it almost bit my face off ..makes 3 times a musky tried it
@@michaelmetz9198 I'll be on the lookout.
Cranes are expensive but worth it
Mr Crane is a member of my Muskies Inc. chapter, and he brings baits to our annual meeting. He gives us a small discount. However, compared to some of the baits out there, I think they are quite reasonable. They don't last all that long, but man, do they catch fish.
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Yes, it is. I always say it doesn't catch the fish for you, but it shows if you're in the ballpark.
Garmin and others recommend not using trolling batteries for electronic die to feedback issues.
I never had any issues with feedback, but in my new boat, I have a dedicated electronics lithium battery. Runs all my electronics for over 19 hours. I did a video on that install, too.
Uncle Butch,, Aunt Mary lived there... Grandma Butcher lived where the dog park is now...
Grandma,. Lived there 50 plus years ago.
Uncle Butch , Aunt Mary,,. Then Grandma Butcher live where the dog park is.
The dnr takes more then they give
Well, they stock tens of thousands of fingerling. So I don't think they are taking that many, lol.
So I have the 106sv the GLS10 and livescope transducer. Do I need to buy the GSV20 also?
You just need to attach a network cable from the Livescope black box directly to the 106sv. Easy peazy.
Nice explanation what was the length of your base plate I see the have different options on the web site yours looks just right for my boat
Thanks. The plastic base of the Fishing Specialties mount is 12". I didn't get the extension handle that is used to rotate the pole, but now I wish I had.
Great video and what a battle that was with that muskie what a catch I hope to catch my first muskie this year and in the future
Thanks, and good luck. Go somewhere that has a good population of musky. Throw smaller lures in early spring and get shallow. Then transition to burning small to mid-sized bucktails in later spring. In the summer, muskies pull out over deeper water and only go shallow from late evening to very early morning. Trolling becomes your best option. In the fall, the musky will transition back to shallow water and can be caught with larger baits. Good luck!
@@fishingwithjc8475 You're Very welcome I will definitely try those things out at least try to and I think Buckeye Lake has muskie too
@Outdoor Adventures With Austin Miller I googled Buckeye Lake Ohio, and it doesn't appear to have muskies. If you live near Columbus, OH, the closest musky lakes are Alum Creek and Clear Fork.
@@fishingwithjc8475 Okay I thought they did sorry about that thanks for let me know that and pretty cool if I go to Columbus I want to check out some new fishing spots
@Fishing with J C Triton makes phenomenal (wood free) boats and the Fishhunter is an awesome hull. I had a 205DC which is just a little longer than yours. I love the cockpit of these hulls. I’m currently in a Tr186 and miss the cockpit and deeper hull. I did upgrade my trailer bunks to GatorBak II which is a HDPE type of material placed over the 2x6 boards to keep my hull from blistering (blistering occurs from sitting on wet carpet). Cost was about $250. Do some looking into this if you spend a lot of time on the water. The longer the hull is wet, the greater the chance of blistering. My bunks are dry within minutes. Here’s to your future success!
Thanks for the view and comment. This is my first fiberglass boat, and my first Triton. I have to say, it is amazing! I appreciate the tip on blistering, and I will definitely look into the GatorBak II's. I am working on a video of the install of my Garmin sonar units and Livescope, and another video on the installation of a custom casting deck in the rear. I hope I can earn a subscription from you <grin>. Thanks and happy boating!
I’m already a subscriber because I share your passion for fishing. I mounted my Livescope GLS10 black box with fuse panel and 12 volt switch on a HDPE board and placed it in my starboard locker. My dedicated lithium battery sits right next to the GLS10. I’ve seen where people ran screws through the hull when installing electronics and didn’t want to make that same mistake. Same concern applies to the rear engine compartment with battery chargers. Just think things through before the first screw is installed. If you use minnows, the built-in baitwell is incredible.
@@AriePharmD Outstanding, glad to have ya, and thanks so much for subscribing. I did the same thing when I installed all my stuff. You definitely have to think things through, and be able to make adjustments when things don't go as planned.
I’m fairly certain you and I were in the same squadron in the WVANG…130 CES.
I spent 12 years there. Civil engineering and Comms. Great experience, and thank you for your service.
I have not read all the comments but I do hope that you put a 0° mount on that LVS 32 since you're using a pole mount..and not on your trolling motor 😊
I did, yes. Thanks.
Great video
Thanks
I wonder if they will ever stock the upper Tug Fork river?mcdowell county
They put 275 in the Tug River last year and those fish travel all throughout that river, so there's a possibility they will reach that area.
Thanks for the reply…I had heard that they had stocked down around Williamson…Mark Scott said that Ky fisheries helped out..The water up here from Iaeger down is beautiful with lots of down trees and structure…I have muskies in a pond here near Panther…they are doing good.In the mid 80’s,a conservation club had tiger muskies put in there at Iaeger…they grew like crazy…I caught several and put them back in..lost a few monsters..lol..
@@rustymullins6623 a lot of our rivers are perfect for muskies and any river that empties into the Ohio likely holds them. It's a shame that natural reproduction can't sustain their population. We haven't been able to populate our waters the way we should because two of our hatcheries were down or partially functioning. The WVDNR received a grant to build a new hatchery in Elizabeth. Muskies and walleyes will be hatched there in greater numbers and we should get back on track soon.
Bass Pro lithium’s, 3 years of warranty 🥴 and same price as other brands, that ALL have at lease 10 years ect. and saw 15 years on a certain other brand… Great video nevertheless, thanks for the info 🤘 TIGHT LINES 👊
Tight lines to you too my friend.
WHY are they not using rubber nets to prevent damage??
I wish they would, but I guess it comes down to cost. They're lucky to have nets at all. Our local Muskies Inc. chapter donates a lot of money and time, so maybe that can be something we can provide. Thanks for the suggestion, comment and view.
I am dumb founded. WTH was that. Honestly....if that is how musky biological science is carried out. Your not going to grow your population or quality.
This is how it works for all fish. Middle island creek is one of the best in the state for natural reproduction
All Muskies in all states go through this exact process...where have you been?
Great video. Loved the paddle fish
That was the first one I've ever seen in person. I was geekin' out for sure! Thanks for the view and comment!
Nice video man! It's good to see this work getting done and taking care of our streams. Very informative too. Thanks 🙏
It was an amazing experience, so grateful to be a part of it. These men and women work extremely hard to ensure we have fish to catch.
Good Job! Thanks Can you view livescope on your other units as well?
I can on the ones that are networked together. The one older model can't be networked with the newer ones, unfortunately.
Thank you
*I bought this model for my 14 ft Jon boat. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend love it!!! It pushes my boat with ease ( 2 men 220 each). I would highly recommend this to anyone.*
Glad to hear it, and thanks for watching!
*I used it, I was amazed, **enjoyable.fishing** recommend The color screen really lights up. For such a small unit it is very easy to read.*
It is pretty amazing!
good video
Thanks, I really love that lake.
Which lake is this?
I can't even remember how to get there. It was well off the beaten path. You might be able to find it on Google maps. It's a dual pond with a beaver dam between them.
How many fish were stocked in North bend lake?
125 this time.
Awesome fish and vid !
Thanks, and thanks for subscribing!
Thank you for the video tour, my kind of water, skinny!
Yea, I love that river. Took a partner of mine who'd never caught a musky and he got a small one.
Thank you all for stocking my "go to" paddleboard fishing spot. Tight lines.
Lots of timber in that lake, I've fished quite a bit but never pulled one out of there. There are some really big bass in there too.
Are you allowed to fish that spot with kayaks only? Just curious because there are signs on that side that say no trespassing. I have 3 kayaks and have thought about fishing that spot since I live 10 minuets away.
I don't think there are any restrictions on what type of boat you use, but you have to be able to get up that narrow section that runs underneath the bridge. They just don't want people walking along the base of the dam, for obvious reasons. It's definitely loaded with fish, especially in the spring when they make their spawning trek upstream. In the summer it's pretty much unfishable due to weeds and such. Good luck!
I am in that video
Nice, at what time in the video?

No way I'd want to turn it by hand without the handle
The best way is Lithium battery 14volt or 20volt lead acid battery’s are only 12volt and discharge down from there. Lithium batteries will maintain higher voltage over a longer period of time
I'm considering going with lithium batteries when my agm batteries die. Hopefully the price will come down, because they are pricey right now.
