Cactus Crawlers RC
Добавлен 19 ноя 2020
Welcome to Cactus Crawlers RC! Based in (very) sunny Arizona, we have the very best terrain for radio controlled rock crawlers. From rugged rocks to forest lakes, dry deserts to snow covered mountains I will try to show you all that this wonderful environment has to offer the RC rock crawler enthusiast!
It has been several years since the last time I was into radio controlled cars, mostly vehicles such as the RC10 GT, B4 Buggy, and TC3 road touring car, I had one rock crawler back then-the Axial Scorpion! Acquiring the truck on a trade, I wasn't really sure about what I had and sold it before I could really try it out and see what it was all about (what a dope!).
Fast forward about ten years later and I was more into RC planes than anything else, getting into FPV for the most part (check out my other channel, Mafco Designs to see my airplane vids), I was reintroduced into the rock crawler scene and am now hooked! So sit down, buckle up, and hang on, were going for a ride!!!

Indiana Jones and the ROC Hobbies Kubelwagen at Mini Moab!
Thanks to Mark at RCU In The Shed (@rcuintheshed6981 ) for the idea of having Indiana Jones driving the ROC Hobbies Kubelwagen for the first run video!
Although they're four wheel drive, the ROC Hobbies Kubelwagen and VW Peoples Car aren't crawlers by any means. They have open diffs and if they are caught in a big enough rut they'll just freewheel the other tire and stop fast! I'm sure there is a way to add heavier gear oil or something to the diff to help them lock up a bit but I'm not planning to run these cars too hard, more shelf models than anything else!
I did want to get a running video of the Kubelwagen out at my favorite crawl spot, Mini Moab, and Mark suggested getting Indiana Jon...

New Body & Paint for Sgt Rock: Hard Crawling at Mini Moab
Просмотров 30017 часов назад
I finally got around to painting the new Creep single cab body for Sgt Rock! I wanted to give it more of a military look and tried to do a camouflage pattern on the outside using a liquid mask, unfortunately when I peeled the mask it just took all the paint off down to the lexan body. So I decided to just give it a desert sand paint which still gives Sgt Rock that military look and I'll try the...
Group Crawl on the Mormon Trail with the Vanquish Phoenix!

I joined a group of great crawlers at a new spot with the Vanquish Phoenix! The Mormon Trail is located in South Phoenix in the South Mountain area and seems like a great place for trail trucks, G6 rigs, and the VS4-10 Phoenix! I joined a small group with buggys like the H10 Optic and a new RC Speedy chassis with VS4-10 components! There were also a couple of trick Redcat based custom crawlers ...
Group Crawl at Mini Moab and Sgt Rock's 2Low Transmission Test: Part Two
Просмотров 49014 дней назад
Part Two of the Group Crawl at Mini Moab continues the budget 2low transmission test in Sgt Rock. I was able to crawl with some awesome rigs including Utah Dave's new Vanquish H10 Buggy! The budget 2low transmission works pretty well and I haven't experienced any issues with it so far. About the only complaint I have is how loud the gears are but I'm hoping that in time as it wears in the noise...
Group Crawl at Mini Moab: Part One Testing the New Budget 2Low Transmission Clone in Sgt Rock!
Просмотров 29921 день назад
I've taken Sgt Rock out to Mini Moab to test the new budget 2low transmission clone I got from Amazon for $36. I'm running it with all the supplied parts in the kit including the pinion and skid plate. The only mod I really had to make to the transmission kit was to add 5mm spacers between the trans and skid to make clearance between the Gspeed G3 chassis and the Hobbywing Fusion Pro two in one...
Budget 2Low Transmission Install into Sgt Rock!

I've been slowly getting new parts for Sgt Rock in the hopes of making it a great hardliner crawler! The last item I installed was the NSDRC direct power steering servo which has been working out great (although I'm thinking I will need to also add a BEC since I was having some transmitter issues the last time out.) I've been taking my parts ques from the Crazy Hardliners Crew I crawl with and ...
Group Crawl at Waterwheel Falls Hiking Trail in Payson, Arizona

The crew had decided to travel to Payson (about an hour and a half North of Phoenix) to crawl at a place called Waterwheel Falls Hiking Trail. We decided to run our G6 rigs which are mostly hardbody trucks although one member of the crew had brought out the new Vanquish H10 Optic buggy! We started out on some awesome trails and there were plenty of obstacles to crawl, but as we got closer to th...
Group Crawl at Badlands: Sgt Rock goes down and I have an Accident!
Просмотров 404Месяц назад
This past weekend had me and the guys going to a place called the Badlands out near Canyon Lake in East Mesa Az. I'm pretty sure it's called the Badlands because the rock is pretty shot and crumbles easily. There was a nice size group out there with a lot of rigs I've never seen before and I even met some first time channel viewers! About an hour into the crawl Sgt Rock had taken a spill and fe...
Mini Moab Group Crawling with Sgt Rock: NSDRC Steering Servo Test Part 2 (no music)

I'm trying something new and not putting any music over the video, I got used to doing it because sometimes the conversation on the trail wasn't really "family friendly" so to speak. I'm back out again with the group at Mini Moab in East Mesa past the Lost Dutchman's Goldmine which is in the Superstition Mountains, testing the new NSDRC steering servo in Sgt Rock. I'm really liking this servo a...

I'm checking out the new NSDRC steering servo in Sgt Rock at Mini Moab and was joined by the Crazy Hardliners Crew from the North Valley! Budget Servo from NSDRC: A New Steering Servo for Sgt Rock!

Thanks to my good buddy (Frank Rizzo on Social Media) who suggested that I try out the budget steering servo from NSDRC. Crawling at Nine Tables with the Vanquish Phoenix! One of my favorite go-to rigs!

The Vanquish Phoenix is one of my favorite go-to rigs, it's just got a really positive feel on the rocks! I had a chance to take it out to South Mountain when I met up with the crew at Nine Tables and was pretty impressed with how it was able to keep up with the hardliners! Unfortunately the Phoenix's day was cut short when the steering servo arm stripped out (I really need to carry a spare arm...
Crawler Trash Rigs at Nine Tables South Mountain: Phoenix, Az

Cabin Snow Run with the Vanquish Phoenix! Strange Spring Snowstorm in Arizona!

This past weekend I took the Vanquish Phoenix to our cabin, hoping I could get some crawling done at the new spot I found at Willow Springs Lake last fall. Surprisingly there was a freak snowstorm on Friday night which meant that the lake would remain closed, but I still wanted to get the Phoenix out and decided to run around the lot at my cabin for some fun in the snow! Sgt Rock's New Body with Group Crawling at Nine Tables! Reusing an Old Body Ended Up Looking Good!
Have you had any issues with the gears slipping on the shaft internally in this transmission?
@@kilroy1980 I was told by my friend that there were issues with the plastic case version so I picked up the one in the metal case, I haven’t had any issues so far and I’m pushing it pretty hard!
That was fun Mike I like it when when figures are involved just makes it more realistic
Thanks Brent, it was a lot of fun doing a themed video and Indiana Jones is one of my most favorite movie characters! He worked out really good in that Kubelwagen although he was just a bit big, I'll probably use him again in the scaler too! Thanks for checking out the video bro, I'm glad you liked it!
Excellent video my friend 😂
Thanks Rene! Indiana worked out really great, a really fun video to make! I'm glad you liked the video, thanks for checking it out!
Hah love it!!!
Thanks Frestkd! It was a lot of fun doing a video with Indiana Jones, one of my favorite movie characters for sure! Thanks for checking out the video, I'm glad you liked it!
😁RC fun!!! Love me some Indiana! Perfect size scale there! Iniana jones RC re-enactments has got to be a thjng? 3:00 the hardliner I. You started coming out 😂🍻🙏✌️🍻🖖🤘
Thanks Arty! I'm a big fan of Indiana Jones and glad I picked up that figure, probably going to use him in the scale rig too! It almost did some hard crawling there if not for those open diffs! Thanks for watching bro, I really appreciate the support!
Pretty neat video
Thanks SCRedneck, it was a lot of fun running that Kubelwagen even if it's not a crawler! Thanks for checking out the video, I'm glad you liked it!
@@CactusCrawlersRC I loved it, not only am I a creator but I’m a supporter of others, I try to watch everyone, give them a 👍and watch to the end. We are all after the same goal, why not help each other.
@@SCRedneckRC_2024 I agree and subbed to your channel! I’ll watch for your videos and check them out!
@@CactusCrawlersRC much appreciated
Not gunna lie I nailed it with that suggestion lol well done Mike that was so cool absolutely awesome fit Lucky Indy can drive he can handle open diffs and look cool doing it 👊
Thanks for the suggestion Mark, I'm glad I ordered the Indiana Jones figure instead of just getting some wrestling character or something. He was a tight fit and is just a little big but I was able to get him in there without breaking anything! I'll keep the diffs the way they are and the VW's will be more trail vehicles than crawlers! Thanks again for the Indy idea and checking out the video brother!
Those chopped body Cliff hangers you guys build really do amazing things
@@AdventureTimeRC thanks Brent! I’m just trying to copy what those other guys do as budget minded as possible, they are the ones who have the crazy builds! They really do defy gravity most times but sometimes gravity wins lol! Thanks for watching brother, always appreciate your checking out the video!
That looks awesome would love to try those lines great crawling guys the lights were cool
@@AdventureTimeRC thanks Brent! It was my first time on the trail and I plan to go back, maybe after summer when it cools down. I’ll be having another video with lights soon since it’s best to go out early before the sun comes up, a great opportunity for a light run! Thanks for checking out the video, I really appreciate your support!
Awesome crawling and good looking rigs
Thanks SCRedneck! Its a great crawl spot and I like how grippy the rock is! Thanks for checking out the video and commenting, I appreciate the support!
@@CactusCrawlersRC anytime brother
Absolutely awesome sgt rock looking so good out there new paint looks amazing can't believe how well it performs now little beast holding it's own against a bully aswell well done some very smooth driving nice work Mike 👊
Thanks Mark! Yes, Sgt Rock getting it done! I bet I could do even better if I used both hands to crawl but it's kind of hard to get someone else to do the filming, although sometimes someone will take the camera over if I ask politely! Thanks for watching as always I appreciate your comments too!
@@CactusCrawlersRC I use a plastic clamp that holds the camera on the bottom of the transmitter for some cars and other's I buy those cheap round mounts and put one on each transmitter with double sided gorilla tape works very well
@@rcuintheshed6981 yeah I've seen them, I'm so used to the selfie stick but I'll check out those clamps!
Was out there last weekend..
I was also out there last weekend and we did a small practice comp then took out our buggies, it was really cool! I seem to be going out there a lot lately, maybe I'll see you out there some time! Thanks for checking out the video too!
How do you get the body posts on to the phoenix. I want to put a new body on mine but can't figure out where to attach the front body posts
@@KEBuchan16 you will need to remove the front inner fenders to get to the body post location, I guess you can drill holes in the fenders if you want but I just removed the entire thing. Good luck with the new body swap and thanks for watching the video!
Great crawler video👌😉❤️🔥
@@Fortes_RC_Adv thanks Fortes! It was a fun trail, I plan to go back there soon! Thanks for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed the video!

Omg that view from the top was incredible what a trail that was awesome vanquish did an accepetional job hanging with those comp rigs excellent run lads 👊
Thanks Mark! The view from the top was looking north into Phoenix, downtown with it's tall buildings would have been more to the left in that shot! It was good to get the Phoenix out again I really don't drive it enough and even in stock form it can really crawl! Thanks for watching as always brother, you are the boss!
Are you guys driving down for the G6 at the end of july?
@@DIllybarification I’ll need to check out the details and see what everyone else thinks but I had such a blast on the Tucson G6 last time I’m definitely wanting to go to another one! Thanks for the heads up and checking out the video!
@CactusCrawlersRC it's definitely one of the few spots you can crawl at in the summer. It'll be about 20~30 degrees cooler up on the mountain plus big trees for shade.
When in doubt throttle out I want to try those spots so bad sgt rock is so smooth now that new tyranny is working a treat great work boys another great vid Mike 👊
@@rcuintheshed6981 thanks Mark, yeah the trans is working out great and the only downside is that it’s pretty noisy (I did grease it up pretty good before installing) I’m figuring that’s the difference between a budget 2low and an original one from TGH! I love that spot the rocks have lots of grip and there’s not a whole lot of climbing! Thanks for watching as always brother I really appreciate it!
Awesome crawling 😸👍
Thanks Rene! It was a great day and there sure were some awesome trucks out there! Thanks for watching and commenting, I like all the feedback!
Great run guys fun listening to the ohhhhhsss and aahhhhhsss good group Mike
Thanks Brent! It’s always fun to hear everyone react to a great crawling session! Thanks for checking out the video too, I really appreciate the support!
Great crawling! Nice one buddy!
Thanks Psycho! Everyone had a great time at an amazing place, really enjoyed seeing all those cool rigs! Thanks for the support and watching the video too!
How are you liking the Amazon 2 low? I just traded for a crawler with a hot racing lcg transmission and no amount of grease will make it quieter. Been thinking about going to a 2 low…
Thanks for checking out the video Farmerwes! The AMK 2low clone is working good so far but just as you mentioned with the Hot Racing trans it has lots of gear noise, pretty sure it's the way the gears were cut. I greased up the gears really good and just hope in time it'll get quieter, I bet the OG 2low from TGH would be much better engineered but be prepared to pay four times as much!
One more Amazing Vídeo and great test!!! 😍🥰🤩👍🏻 The spot is brutal and so scale looking to and the rcs/pilots are TOP!!!
Thanks Panda! Yes that place is really awesome and there are challenging lines for everything from stock trucks to build rigs! Thanks for watching the video today, always appreciate the support!
Is the best kind of spots, every one can have fun❤
Went out there last Sunday early morning and early evening. Early morning I took out my highly modified Danchee Ridgerock test everything out. It did well. Then I took my new in the box Ascent Fusion. It did very well for being box stock.
That's awesome frestkd! I bet that modified Ridgerock is a beast! I haven't seen the Ascent in person yet but have heard good things, my first two crawlers were Redcats and they sure have come a long way! Thanks for checking out the video, maybe we'll see you out there soon!
Awesome rock crawl my friend! All trucks are really great! In evening light it looks amazing! 🤩😄💯💥💫

Awesome crawling lads sgt rock handled like a boss new tranny seemed smooth what did you think of it I wanted to have a go at that last climb so bad that was the perfect scale canyon nice work Mike 👊
Thanks Mark, yeah I'm liking the transmission so far, it definitely puts the center of gravity lower and more forward! That canyon climb is epic for sure, I like how Sgt Rock is balanced just right so that a little throttle bump puts it over the hump! Thanks for checking out the video brother, hope your doing well!
nice crawling
Thanks RCcarshow! It was a good time for all lol!
Great footage with nice scale crawlers 💪🤩👌😁
Thanks Fortes! It was a really fun day at a great place, I can't wait to get back there!
Excellent upgrade getting it in sounded like a bit of a hassle can't believe how far sgt rock has come since he fell off the Indoor course keen to see it run power control is so important to not break traction nice work Mike 👊
Thanks Mark! It did take a little bit of hobbying to get it in but that’s probably more due to using a Gspeed chassis. Good point about how far it’s come since the indoor course at Superstition Hobbies, I should go back and try again to see how all the upgrades have worked! Thanks again for watching brother I appreciate all your support!
There's only one crew I know with the word hardline in it and that's the OG HARDLINEKILLERS from socal 🦾🦾
