You are welcome! Any of these stand out for you?
Hi Getrude, Thank you for sharing this information, truly an eye opener. I have a Masters in Clinical Trials with a background in Medicine and I am interested in working in Academic Advising.
Go for it. Like any job, breaking in for the first time might be a climb. But if you communicate your value well, it is possible. All the best, Gabi!
Thanks for sharing, Dr. Gee. I really needed this information.
@@gamelsankarl thank you so much for watching and your feedback!
Hey Gertrude could you help me finish my PhD
What's standing in your way of finishing?
Thanks for sharing it with us. Onde of the main things that stuck with me is putting limits and secure the time to do your thing. Attending other people's necessities ends up to lack of energy and mental space to tackle our own work. So lovely.😀
Dr. Gertrude, would you be able to tell us what criteria did Adit go for on her application?
@@MarcoAntonio-uv9uc sorry I don’t have access to that information.
Let me tell you, I just found your channel. It is is exactly what I am LOOKING for. I work with political appointees and executives at the highest level of government. Your advice is GOLD. Can't wait to implement some of it.
Thank you for watching and taking time to leave a comment. Glad you will be implementing!
Thank you for sharing this

Great review! Thank you. I learned lessons about the natural pace of work the hard way. I wanted to rush a big project, but I'm so glad it evolved at a much more natural pace. It is much stronger than it would have been had I finished it earlier. Looking forward to more of your book reviews.
Thank you so much for watching! I agree with you that my work is much stronger when I work at a natural pace too.
Ooh! I LOVE the idea of a book club! 💝
Thank you for giving me a vote of confidence!
I hold a bpharm degree from india suggest some course or certification which help me to get the job in regulatory affairs thank you
You could look at AMWA or the BCMAS if you want to get into regulatory affairs. All the best.
I have not but I will. I’m new to this channel. Thanks so much.
Thank you for watching and welcome!
Thank you for watching! Have you read Slow Productivity? Will you be adding this to your reading list?
I was pregnant with my first child while doing phd. Finished the first draft and gave birth. Gave my second draft while looking after the baby and doing all chores with no help. Reworking my second and pregnant with second again. It’s difficult but God is good all the time. He provides the strength to go forward
Congrats on both pregnancies as well as being in the throes of wrapping up. It's definitely not easy. Congratulations.
Thank you, Dr. Gertrude Nonterah, this was really insightful
My pleasure! Thanks for watching. Anything in particular stand out for you?
@@TheBoldPhD I really liked the part where you talked about taking and organizing notes because it's essential and would save a lot of time later.
A great piece advice I did not mention in this video is how AI tools/automation can help PhD students win even more! Let me know if this is a topic I should make more videos about.
Yes, I'd love for you to make a video on how AI tools can enhance PhD students' efficiency and productivity. I'm sure others will appreciate it as well.
@@helenakwarteng7293 sounds good. Will do!
Yes please, I've been on the fence about this. I realise now those tools could have helped me with my thesis last year but I was worried about the ethics around AI tools, I felt I was cheating the process.
Thank you for sharing these very valuable information and tips G. ✨
Happy to hear it! What did you find most helpful?

Aditi is not to the point, she is going round and round.
Hmmm I'm already 46. Been working for 20years in Nigeria I'm presently in Canada. I want to go for Masters and PhD. Yes feel old but I am like better now than never.
All the best!
I loved hearing that he was a "bad writer" during the dissertation phase . Then he decided to make a change by studying the craft of writing. Then he started "Done Dissertation" how inspiring.

Happy to hear it!
hey, I am a non-medical person with a Master’s in Marketing, and I have been working in content writing and research for over 10 years. My experience includes SEO, blogs, copywriting, marketing content, and nearly all types of writing-related tasks. Can I pursue a career in medical writing with my hands-on writing experience? Will this field be as open to me as it is to someone with a medical background? Thank you in advance for your sincere advice.
As more and more people with medical backgrounds come into this career path, it is becoming harder for people who don't have these backgrounds. But if it is something you want and can demonstrate the needed knowledge there are pockets of this career path that could open up to you. All the best!
Aditi who was your immigration lawyer?
I am entering my 2,nd year phd and just found out i am pregnant
Hi Dr. Nonterah, Great video and on to the point. I’m a medical doctor and I would like to start my own business of freelance medical writing. I have good writing skills, but I don’t know from where to start and how to launch my own business and get clients. I would like to be well prepared for that. If you can help me with this, it would be great.
Love it 🙏
People only think of things on their side, e.g. "*I'll* compromise my comfort zone", "they'll exclude *me*", "I'd go out of *my* way to network". No one would ever talk to anyone else is everyone reasons like that!! Good opportunities are worth the risk!
so true. Reach out. If they ignore you, that is THEIR loss. Not yours!
OK, you list science writing, which you are more likely to get into with something like an English degree, and then four jobs, all of which require substantial education beyond a bachelors.
Not necessarily. I work in the biotech industry and am surrounded by a lot of people who only have bachelor's degrees. Most science writers I know don't have English degrees - they usually have some kind of science background, and biology is one of them. And yes, some of these roles may ask for a certification or master's degree but they are not always absolutes. This is based on what I have seen not just theory. All the best.
My girl is graduation shortly and her degree is Bachelor of English Honors. She's interested in PR. Could you help with a video that can come up with options so she continues to study whilst she doesn't lose her Indian F1 visa status and also get into a part time job that gives her hands on experience with the PR and help her to become a specialist.
Thank you for this. I was just accepted into the Phd program for Public Administration and this info helps alot!
Hi Dr. Thanks for your efforts
well I dont have a phd, can I break into medical writing? Will I get my promotion after gaining experience? is PhD really mandatory for a career growth in medical writing ?
1. Yes you can. 2. Depends on the promotion structure of the company 3. No.
Which law firm is best for EB2 in Pakistan
No idea. But I used the lawyers at WeGreened(dot)com. You could get in touch with them. All the best.
Hi Dr! I'm curious do you remember there being a level of difficulty between nursing and biology? Did your biology degree feel more rigorous?
They were both difficult in their own ways. Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and Calculus were part of my Biology degree and they were not easy. The thing about Nursing was there were A LOT of facts to remember. A LOT! So while in my Biology degree I felt I had more down time, I was constantly studying during my Nursing degree because there was just so much. I enjoyed both though!
I'm currently a graduate taking a year off to fck around and find out but i do know that i want to get a PhD, while i thought I'll take a year off, its already been like 6 months !!! time is flying like there's no other option. I really need to take a quick decision and plan my PhD in the next 6 months. Thank you for making this video as a reminder❤
It’s my pleasure. Wishing you all the best!

Great content! Yes, I am taking CPD courses to build capacity for entrepreneurship after my PhD, and also in case opportunities come up that require them. I have taken a course on project management, social media/digital marketing, content creation and digital metrics and analysis. This is not only useful for entrepreneurship, but I have also seen job specifications for academic/research jobs requiring these skills, for research dissemination in non-academic avenues. As long as we are working, our skillsets need updating. Trends change and we are well placed to manage our own learning to maximise them. Even in retirement, there are skills for life, so, learning never ends. A doctorate degree is not that much of a trump card if we don’t keep up-skilling. In which, case a candidate with a lesser qualification but demonstrating ongoing learning may appeal more to an employer or hirer than a PhD who demonstrates that they know it all and can’t be bothered to learn more. Let’s remember that a doctorate evidences expertise in a small niche. There’s still a wider world to keep abreast with.
Thank you so much for watching and for commenting. "Let’s remember that a doctorate evidences expertise in a small niche. There’s still a wider world to keep abreast with." 100 times yes!

Ma'am your space in the back is so warm but empty. Put some beautiful green plants back there! I have had several people check my resume and each has said something different. I am sick of it.
Thanks for watching. Ah, it can be frustrating having people look at your resume and get different responses. Wishing you the best as you look for your next career.
This is great information.
