I have both vinyl and fiber cement for 20 years. The fiber cement holds paint like magic. I've painted it once when I got it 20 years ago with quality paint and it looks amazing still. It was just primed and not factory painted. Don't buy 5 year paint. My brother got it factory painted. My vinyl siding is faded and needs cleaning all the time. It looks nowhere near as nice as my fiber cement siding. You can paint it any color and it doesn't warp in the heat. If fact, it doesn't expand and contract hardly at all and the reason it holds onto paint so well. It's just my experience. Given the choice, I'd never get vinyl again.
