Rural militias don't cosplay 18th-century soldiers or hold events for grand-standing politicians. This is a clown show. A well-regulated militia just means well-trained, not regulated by the state. Militias often coordinate with law enforcement or have members who are. But a constitutional Militia are local community members who regularly drill in combat and firearms training. Honestly, the Federal government likely considers them closer to al-Qaeda than responsible citizens, considering the political demographics of D.C. and the constant barrage of anti-2A propaganda in the media.

The militia are community members who respond in emergencies. Every small town in America has (an effective) militia. That militia may only be a dozen firefighters or the local rifle club. But when an emergency strikes, the same characters will be ready. They meet in Churches, clubs, and community centers. City people will not understand this concept. Due to the lack of invading armies or trouble with bandits, militia are rarely called up to arms. Some small militias do combat drug cartels and corrupt officials (the battle of Athens comes to mind), but these events are never reported to law enforcement, and certainly won't make the evening news. Every day, when you pick up groceries or take your kids to school, you pass at least a dozen citizens armed with a concealed firearm. You will never know their name, but they prevent tragedy and keep the peace. Remember, the police are LAW ENFORCEMENT, not your personal security guards.
