New 2024 Walther PPK .32 ACP Post Shooting Overview
Howdy folks; thanks for tuning into another of my videos. This is a quick overview of the wear patterns shown after 123 rounds fired. Obviously that is a very small amount of ammo fired and barely any wear should be present: but good data to start with.
I’ll be shooting this pistol a lot this year so stay tuned for how it goes!

Howdy folk, thanks for tuning back in. Todays video is my first shots through the new PPK. Worked absolutely flawlessly aside from the 71gr PPU ammo failing to lock the slide on empty. 1. Is there a reason we should get the PPK over the PPKS? i.e. PPK is smaller, therefore more concealable. The PPKS comes with a longer grip and one more round. But the PPK could have the longer magazine sticking out the bottom of the grip. But do they function the same? I.e. trigger pull wt? 2. I've heard trigger pull is heavy and old-fashioned, 13 DA and 6 lb SA. Is this a problem? 3. Could we all band together and talk Bersa into making another run of the Bersa Thunder 32? I have the Bersa Thunder 22, 380, 380 CC, and 9mm. They are great and the 3 smaller ones can add an Armalaser, and the TPR9C has a short rail.

@@geoffreyarnold7292 1: unless you’re committed to the PPK size I’d recommend a PP. PPK/S is cool in its own way: but I genuinely love the PP. though I’d recommend a FEG AP-MBP over a PP at current market price; and the FEG has more modern internals with a firing pin block safety. 2: trigger pull is not bad, DA is heavy but smooth. SA isnt the best by any stretch but it is light and consistent. Over travel is present and reset is hard to notice. Definitely takes some familiarization. 3: Bersa pistols work. As much as this form of pistol is sleek and functional; what we REALLY need is a double stack polymer frame DAO (Glock style striker preferably) short recoil .32 acp. Like an LCP II in .32 acp with a threaded barrel. These old designs work; but there is a monumental amount of pistol design that has been completely ignored when it comes to .32 acp. We need a genuinely modern .32 acp that has the capacity and features of any top tier pistol. There is currently not one on the market. For the width of a PPK or 30X or any of these 2024 offerings you can pack 12-15rds of .32, have an interchangeable barrel (so threaded and non threaded swap just like a Glock) AND have the weight of a polymer frame. Glock should make one yesterday and while it’s not going to be a market leader it will be absolutely be the best selling .32 acp pistol since the 1903. I have a design I’d bring to market immediately if I had the capital for manufacturing.

Double stack, 15+1 iirc, and... all I can say is, imagine a Beretta 92 with the size of a G19, give or take. Saying this because welp, yes, I don't know if they're still being made, mine was brand new, but at the beginning of the vid you mention that in .32 it's all the same these days, which I understand as these Walther ppk & copies, simple blowback, etc, which many brands have produced. @FreedomsLife1776 Definitely subbed, keep up the content! The older PPK's have a punch pin that you must knock out to get the hammer spring out. These new Fort Smith models do not have that. They need to be pried off the frame. The spring is on the bar, and the bar is held against the frame as the pressure of the spring holds it in place. I have not yet removed it, as it takes an extreme amount of force. Much more than like an S&W revolver, for example. Some suggest a spring bar tool to do it, but I wanted to do it by hand as I did my revolver. Interested to see your expirence.

I'd love to see an in depth comparison between the Beretta 30X and this Walther, paying specific attention to racking pull needed (with the inherent Tip Up aspect of the 30X in mind). I'm currently in the process of selling all my 9mm gear, and my last 9mm pistol (Taurus G3C, which I dearly love; easy to shoot, stays on target, and is a true Pocket Pistol in size), and transitioning to all .32 caliber weapons. My choices are the Taurus 327 Wheel Gun, the Beretta 30X (about a $100 less than your Walther, but I've not seen a review of the W. yet, so my choice might change depending on the racking results), and in a couple years of saving up, the Henry Rifle in .327 Fed. Mag (though like the Taurus, I'll be shooing the .32 H&R Mag and .32 S&W Long out of it). The ONLY non-.32 I'll be buying down the road, is the S&W in 5.7x28 for a home weapon. Reason for my transitioning? Arthritis and bone issues in my hands and joints, along with cervical and lumbar spinal issues (less recoil the better for me); this is why the Beretta 30X is at the top of my list, with that Tip Up barrel. Anywho, thanks for another great video, and like you, I DETEST EDC's with 'shiny' aspects; it's rather like a big neon sign that says to the bad guy "Please Aim HERE!" @@jrbailey3208 thank you very much for commenting. Hope I earned a new subscriber! Watch my videos on the 30X if you want a very in-depth review. I’d 100% recommend the Walther over the 30X. It will last longer, has a better trigger, and is only slightly longer while being much slimmer and the same height. Also doesn’t have an aluminum frame and the 30X has some very serious longevity issues right now for multiple components. The worst being the frame issues. If you can find one I also highly recommend a Colt 1903. Even a very used one will still shoot great with new springs and it’s my favorite .32 by far. Also: racking the 30X is much harder than racking the PPK. The slightly bigger size feels better with the PPK and makes handling so much smoother. If Atlantic firearms still has any FEG AP-MBP pistols in stock I would grab one. It’s just an updated PP and you can buy .380 mags and convert them to .32 super easily. They are easily the best deal on the market at $280. They have a chromed bore so the bore is gonna be mint, and even though they are cosmetically pretty worn the 2 I bought were both super clean internally.

I actually LIKE the look of the thicker 30X compared to slimmer models, because they fit my fat hand much better! (for the most part, there ARE limits) I'm not worried about the aluminum frame in the 30X, it would appear that Beretta has learned the Hard Lessons of the older Tomcat model, with a beefier frame! Considering these aspects (I did a LOT of research into both the Tomcat and the 30X, as I do for ALL purchases, given I'm on a Fixed Income of just over $900 a month), I believe the 30X will last much longer than I shall (at this juncture, due to my heart problems, according to the docs and statistics, I'm on a Path Glide to an appx. 5 Year Shelf life, so I doubt that I'll be able to run enough rounds through a 30X to cause it failures). The two main features of the 30X that caught my eye was the Tip Up Barrel and the Thickness (wood grip model), with MUCH better sights compared to the Tomcat or the Keltec (which is actually a very positiviely reviewed EDC). The $100 difference between the Walther (which Classic Lines really DO talk to me in many ways, having grown up on Sean Connery James Bond movies) and the 30X is VERY KEY to my decision making process. However, I've got time to do more research, as I've decided once I sell my Taurus G3C, to re-invest in a Taurus 327 Wheel Gun, as my pocket pistol of choice. ($350) Then I'll have about a year to save up, combine it with what I have rat holed from selling my G3C, and then choose between the Walther and the 30X; that's the plan anyway! I've carried a Seecamp for years after talking with and buying it directly from Larry when he was still alive. Have only shot it a handful of times tho. Mostly I distrust the reliability of the 32 auto. It is Kel-Tecs fault. I owned three of those 32 auto Kel-Tec pistols and they all chimney stacked, failed to feed and failed to fire too many times for me to trust them again. So to date I've only had two 32s I loved and trusted enough to carry and they are both revolvers capable of shooting anything 32 from short, to long to H&R mag. On the new Ruger I got it will even handle the 327 mag. That little Smith & Wesson six shot revolver has shot more 32 ACP semi rimmed rounds through it than any of the others. No jams, no issues with wear other than holster wear from years of carry! As for your complaint! Put some gun grease on those spots and keep shooting.

@ I know man; my buddy has an old 81 that shoots like a dream. I’ve put a lot of thought into building one with that barrel and might one day but right now just doesn’t fit my needs. I want a true .32 “pocket pistol” with a threaded barrel: that fits my desire more than a Glock 19 sized .32 pistol. I’ll preach for an LCP II with a threaded barrel in .32 till it happens. Or similar pistol. Like a Glock action pistol that fits that size or honestly whatever. As long as it’s made durable and reliable and that size with a double stack mag and threaded barrel I’ll be satisfied.

I wouldn’t say that by any means: beretta makes some world class firearms. The 1301, m9 series, ar70 series, and many more. This particular line of pistols is having some real teething issues: but I pretty well guarantee within a year or so it will be remedied. The real junk firearms currently as far as a whole company is concerned is pioneer arms, and a few others. When profits matter more than durability and reliability: you get a bad product.

Or “we can’t replace with the newer model”: then I got the newer model and another rep told me “that pistol should last 15,000 rounds at least”. just paid for one for my girlfriend. She is a semi experienced shooter having shot most of my handguns. she loved my PPK but I thought the X would be better for her to carry.. She is in love with my old Beretta 950B but... same thing. X should be better. Soo she brings it home and I am talking to her on the phone explaining that she never has to use the slide. explaining that if she does need to it is easier if she cocks the hammer first.. in the process she tilted the barrel too far up and when she moved the slide back... well... the front popped up and she could not get the gun back together keeping in mind that it is brand new and still rough with god knows what for lubrication... she could not get the slide to go forward with her hand strength. knowing it 'wanted' to go forward I hesitated but (we are doing this on the phone) I told her to take the little hammer in her kit and using the handle.... tap the back of the slide gently. whereupon ... the slide went forward and off. She got it back together with no problem. I would really be reluctant to tell a man to do so if a mans strength was not doing the job. But I mean she was a pro glass blower at one time so does have mechanical/dexterity skills.

I’ve gotten disassembly down where it’s smooth: but it sure is weird the first few time. You’re semi right on not having to run the slide: for loading and unloading your correct. @@doranmaxwell1755 I wish I could tell you not to worry, but these 30X pistols have some real teething issues right now. Make sure you keep it as lubricated as possible, keep the mags clean and hopefully you’ll be good. If you can work on Harley’s and such you can polish a feed ramp: I highly recommend polishing the secondary feed ramp found in the frame. I have a short video showing what part I’m talking about: polish it to a mirror finish and that would improve your feeding. Also make sure you keep an eye on the rear rails, watch for the barrel pin breaking (depending on when your gun was made it might have the original barrel pin design that’s prone to breaking) and I’d buy a spare firing pin for $6 so you can have one should yours break. Aside from those things the pistol seems solid and most malfunctions I had all you have to do is rack the slide fully to the rear and it feeds.

@@doranmaxwell1755 I dig that. I know not everybody is serious about training or enjoys shooting a lot. But they marketed the pistol as “unmatched durability” and my pistol dying at 400 rounds is the exact opposite of that. For $600 the pistol needs to last at least a few thousand rounds. Especially when it’s supposedly built to be suppressed which adds a lot of wear and tear. I think they are workin to truly make it super durable and I have a design that would greatly increase durability, but I don’t want to take it to beretta right now. I want to see what they do and I’m considering designing my own .32. My new pistol seems a little better, but I’ve only shot 125rds through it so far. Probably gonna go shoot next week and put another 150-200 through it. Might put my suppressor on there but my first 30x was stupid loud with the suppressor so I also think it’s not really worth it for the wear increase. Idk: I just want a polymer framed double stack .32 that’s tiny and has a locked action like a keltec p32 and threaded barrel.
