Worst take ever.
Yeah there not spending the money on the looks it’s the performance. Sorry it looks “cheap” but it’s worth if your a runner
@@crashoutcorsin yep, the original AF build quality and durability was great at that high price point. As a buyer it’s good to get value for money. Compared the Sky Paris and Adidas super shoes I was surprised at Nike.
Not sure if you are trolling, they are 110% fake 😂
What's the roebox and the sizing like ? would you go up half a size ?
@@stevros48 Hi, I’m usually a smallish size UK9 with fairly wide feet. With this shoe I managed to get away with a UK8.5 so went down half a size. Toe box is medium width/volume so works well.
Get outa hear
I may have missed it, what are you thoughts on sizing? Thanks in advance
@@expatadventureturkey9324 For me these are true to size. I have a fairly wide UK8.5-UK9 and these shoes in a 9 are perfect, I can even just fit waterproof socks in as vamp allows expansion. The most comfy shoes I own.
Big fake
Yet another topflight performance mate! You truly are unstoppable! 👏😎🤘
@@BenNotley cheers Ben! Would have been good to get into ‘Dads Army’ Mr Mainwaring 👴🏼
Thank you for the review! Great work 👏
@@TheUltraGratefulRunner Thanks a lot. 🙂
In first glance, I can tell u, u have been mugged, your shoes are fake AF3
Fakes
I have autism I done 100 km at 7hours and 54 minutes my friend said that was slow he never ran 100 km in he's life so he shouldn't judge your expert at utra running so is my time slow be honest with me
@@tomrunner3908 That is a great time and congratulations for competing the distance. Ultra running paces are so different to road marathons due to elevation, terrain and just being such a long distance. Kudos
Can you include the units in Km for some of us?
I’m been a mile man from the start, would be tricky 🙂
Great bits of winter kit Tom. 😎🤘
Thanks mate, sure I’ll find some more ‘essential’ stuff to fill my bedroom with. 😉
Another cracking performance Tom! Massive kudos bud! 👏👏👏🏅
Cheers Ben, it was a fun afternoon.
They are most likely fake
@@NinjaFoodieGrill23 They were from the largest reputable shoe seller in the UK.
Good luck, not sure i could give up my morning coffee
Thanks, onto the decaf now. Let’s see how it goes.
Are these shoes suitable for running on mixed terrain? a little asphalt a little trail?
@@JedyyPL Hi, yep these shoes are good for that as they feel a bit like a road super shoe (but a little heavier due to more rubber outsole) Fairly small lug depth so deep mud can be a problem.
Thanks for reply Bro 👍🏻😁
These look fake, the swoosh is supposed to have creases not to look flush like that .
@@davidpascual9571 They were purchased from a big respected reseller.
Thanks for this, great report. Not sure if it's made me more confident or filled me with even more fear ahead of this weekend 😂. I fully expect to cramp round here too, like I do on every 50...it;s jsut a matter of which lap...taking bets right now !
Hope it’s added some value. It’s a unique course with a lot of steep short climbs. Drains really well. Best wishes for your race. This was my first 50 miler and loved it. Watch those ankles through the ‘root canal’ section. Strong electrolytes/hydration should help. 👍
Speed on the sloppy stuff 🏃🔥🔥🔥
Classic fell running shoe.
Great review once again Tom. Loving the black and fruit salad colourway. 😎🤘
Cracking running as always Tom!!! Superb result mate! 👏😎🤘
Thanks Ben. Hope the recovery is going well from your last amazing run.
great video, round 3 next year? haha
Haha, maybe. You are the man to be beaten (bar Tom Evans rockin’ up) 🙂 Enjoy Thailand.
Great video as always Tom!! Thank you 😊 🎉
@@NkululekoMdimore pleasure, thanks for the message.
STOP , complaining !!!! You can always go to your a store and check it out before buying !!!!!!!
These shoes are meant for a break-in period and one big race. They’re not meant for 400-500 miles like a normal pair of shoes.
@@alwaysoutafterdark6136 True, the general finish looks poor compared to other top end shoes, like Asics and Adidas. Even compared to older versions of AF and VF they looked poor. My AF1 I’ve got at least 120 race miles and 180 training miles out of them. Great shoe.
i love my alphafly 3s, they are so light on foot and by far the best, springiest and most propulsive supershoe ever made
In Australia they are sold as woman's shoes. They look great in photos but now you see your review they do look a bit cheap. I've been wearing nike since the 80s and nike in general look and feel much cheaper these days.
Totally agree, the original Alphafly and Vaporfly N%2 build quality is great and also lasts a lot longer than espected considering being race day shoes. For the high price tag they should be flawless like the top end Adidas shoes. Thanks for message.
@@NutandVoltthere are different types of shoes, like race day shoes, training shoes, endurance shoes, and many different types depending on what you run and how you train. the alphafly 3s are meant to be extremely fast and bouncy, supporting your feet in medium to long distance running. they are not meant for durability.
Mate you are an absolute beast! Perfectly executed training and race! Huge kudos bud! 👏😎🤘🏅
@@BenNotley Thanks! I was happy with the result. Bring on the next challenge 🙂 Hope you and family are well.
renato canova style big session either side of both thresholds seems to be the key for marathons.
Totally agree. Tough but real confidence booster if paces hit.
congrats buddy, great running :)
Thanks! 👍
I purchased Mafate 4s 2 months ago, have done 29 short runs totalling 100 miles. Already on run 2 the glue on the front of upper started coming loose. Now, after 29 runs the glue on the sides of front upper is gone :/
That is strange mine have held up really well. I wash my shoes after each run 15 mins quick, 30 deg, 800 spin, no detergent.
Ive got the fuji2 and they're great but i just found that because the plate is so high in the foam it felt like i was running on bear carbon plates and my feet would be in bits after 10 miles.
@@pete801 thanks for info. The 3 feels really soft not sure if they have lowered the plate.
@@tomharvey-run ah I do hope so. Will wait and see further reviews. Good luck with the marathon 👍
I have the Fujispeed 2's, they seem to be very similar but have a woven mesh upper which you might prefer.
More new shoes!? You're living the dream Tom 🤣👍 They look pretty wicked mate. I hope they help you smash Beachy Head! 💪💪💪
@@BenNotley cheers Ben. Think the Mrs radar is broken 🤣
@@tomharvey-run 🤣🤣🤣
Good luck at Beachy Head. No doubt you'll absolutely smash it 💪🏻 I did it in 2019, and it was my very first marathon and boy it left me pondering my life decisions 😂 Had the Fujispeed 2's but sold them when the Tecton X3's were released
@@paulmulks Thanks, hope so. Tough marathon for your first 🥲 def not a pb course. Will prob get the TX3 back at some stage. Lots of people smashing races in them atm. Hope your training is going well.
@tomharvey-run Yeah I did wonder why I picked that as my first ever marathon, and you're right, not a course for a PB 🤢 I wore the Tecton's this weekend for the Run to the Sea Bournemouth 50k and my feet were battered by the end of it! Race briefing said to wear road shoes, but I thought otherwise, and boy was that a mistake! Paid a heavy price second half of the race 😖 Think I need a non-carbon plated trail shoe for those bigger distances
@@paulmulks the most comfy non plated trail shoes I’ve ever worn are the Mafate Speed 4. Not the lightest or fastest but great durable ultra shoes. Saying that I’ve always taken the hit and gone for speed over comfort.
@tomharvey-run I wish I could go for speed ober comfort, but I'm not as experienced as yourself for sure 😁Thanks for the feedback Tom 👍🏻
I’m size 8uk in running shoes, which size would I need for these , website only goes in half sizes which is weird
If you have narrow/medium width feet I would get UK7.5. I had to stop wearing mine because they were too narrow with fixed width. They are long and narrow fit.
Obv try them on on carpet if you need to return them as new, hope useful.
How many miles do you have on these now and how is the width /hot spot issue now.
@@ianmanners2614 Hi Ian, I’ve done 70 miles in then. The width overlay hotspot disappeared after about 20 miles. I’m considering using them for up and coming Beachy Head Marathon due to being lightweight and nimble over hills. Either these or the Zinal 2 like last year. Tbc
Great video Tom, honest and very open account. It was a tough day out with only 62% finisher rate. Have another bash and maybe see you on the start line.
@@ianfraser747 thanks Ian, let’s see over next few years, certainly a great location/event. Hope you’re running is going well.
It's hard to share a DNF bud so kudos to you for talking to us about it. I am sure without all those prerace issues illness, car trouble etc you probably would have toughed it out. I think you were rocked from the start mate. I am sure when you return next time you will smash it mate! 👏😎🤘
@@BenNotley cheers Ben, I’ve been meaning to get a video out for a while. Will trim it a bit when I have the time. Top performance on your recent ultra 👏
Out of area trail ultras always have lots of back stories - it is really interesting to hear yours. I've loved the mountain races I've done, and plan to do more. I've done a run from Lizard Point to Lands End (- which is a game of three halves, and a spectacular route), and I would like to do the Arc 50 in 2026 if I can get in (- I couldn't do the hundred). I hope Berlin goes well - I'll be following.
@@chrisshaw2810 cheers Chris, Lizard point to LL sounds great. The ARC50 is awesome race esp the first 50k of it (if weather plays ball). Have a good week.
great video, DNFs are part of the game when we take on such extreme races :). Onto the next
@@olivervarney2032 Thanks, onwards mate..
Sorry, just won't watch content vertically shot.
Good job with the review & good luck with the PB in Berlin Tom🏃♂
@@TheDeterminedRunner Thanks! Trust the process. Hope your running is going well.
Hope to run pb in Chicago They are still in box 😐
@@markoljustina best wishes for Chicago.
@@tomharvey-run thank you 🙂
North face Vectiv Sky: you had an unboxing and then nothing else. Did you not like it? Was 1/2 size down correct? Thanks
@@rmsrmsrmsrms half size down was correct for me. I had to send them back for refund due to getting really bad blisters on inside from the carbon wings coming up the side wall of upper. Shame as the rest was fine, although could have been a bit lighter weight. I have fairly wide feet esp left foot.
Another top shoe review Tom! They sound insane mate. 😎🤘
Cheers Ben, there is always a trade off to get the weight so low. They def felt good when picking up the pace and engaging the plate/foam. Sole durability may not be the strong point.
They are more durable than they look. @@tomharvey-run
Sounds like a decent shoe Tom. Built like a tank. 😎🤘
@@BenNotley cheers Ben, tbh I would not pay original full price as minimal tech in midsole. Certainly high quality materials.
How are you getting on with the Tecton x3?
@@tomharvey-run only done about 50k in the tectons so far. Want to keep em in reasonable shape but they are a really decent shoe. Very comfortable.
@BenNotley They look good. Save some midsole bounce for race day 🙂
