I got back into PC gaming in 2020 and started watching a number of different gaming creators here on RUclips. Now I want to become an active participant in the community as thanks for all the entertainment I've enjoyed over the past several years.
I won't be playing any new release games on this channel, only older stuff, for now. I want to introduce new players/non-players to titles which I find are worth multiple play-throughs and don't have their entertainment value diminished from spoilers. I love open-world games as well as management-strategy games which allow for exploration and creativity. (Also, I usually stick to third-person POV games as first-person games tend to give me motion-sickness.)
I hope you enjoy all the crazy shenanigans I hope to bring to this channel!

Neither man is sure what blowing up a bridge will do to help the gang escape the law, but they're still following Dutch's plans for the moment. Later, we head north into the snowy region of Ambarino, hunting forgotten loot and some of the local wildlife.

nice lady voice filter bro
Not a filter. Not a bro, either, but I do take that as a compliment. Usually means I'm thinking reasonably and not being a whiny, emotional, little biotch. LOL.
I like your voice.
Thank you. Sometimes I don't like my voice, but that's more about not being able to maintain a consistent sound rather than disliking the sound itself.
@ I think you really sound great. I wouldn’t worry about that at all. It’s endearing.
@@reptilelicks9796 Thank you again. I definitely appreciate it.
you should do audiobooks, you'd make bank
I don't know about audiobooks, but I am planning on starting a second channel which will be stories, social commentary, and life philosophy. I had hoped to start it before the holidays, but now I'm thinking it'll have to wait until after New Year's.
RDR2 is a game that, if u want the visual quality the creators meant, unfortunately demands setting Textures to Ultra (and is made to play it on 1440p); all the other settings look similarly bad. It's also a setting that's not that demanding unless you're playing on 4K (it shouldn't make a slightest change in terms of stutters). I highly recommend using optimized settings from another quite big fellow youtuber called BenchmarkKing, he's making the game look and run the best simultaneously. Water is generally the heaviest passanger on our R* hot air balloon, I'd drop that right off the hat, but generally, in the description of his video there is the list of all settings (I personally go all the way low on water but that's on you), they should immediately bring a big-to-huge improvement on both sides, visuals and performance. Also, if specifically stuttering is a problem, you might want to swap around the graphics API, although they have their prons and cons - I am not sure if Vulkan can utilize DLSS (imho a crucial setting) but people often report better performance with it. The APIs' performance will fully depend on the specific setup you got in your PC tho, it's a coin flip between DX12 and Vulkan (worth taking tho, you can always unflip it) - the one thing is that messing with RDR2 graphics advanced settings can become a pain of constant turning it off/on, loading the game just to quit it etc. Good luck with it nevertheless! (I am not even mentioning the beautiful beautiful effects you can achieve through ReShade and modding in general, it'd be a doctorate then). 🤠🐎🤟
His video on just one game can be a very useful lesson for other games you play or might play, he describes what individual settings do with visual comparisons, and since RDR2 has quite the settings list, it's a bit of a film to go through, but you can learn a lot, for me for example the thing I got was that I admire high quality Ambient Occlusion settings - they seem to make the worlds come alive for me.
Thanks for the tips. My biggest frustration is the game runs just fine with the high and ultra quality settings when I'm not running my recording software at the same time. (I have over 2,500 hours in the game, so what you see on the channel is only a small portion of my total gameplay hours.) Does BenchmarkKing mention what he uses for video recording? I've heard it mentioned that OBS doesn't always play nice with NVIDIA GeForce software updates, so I may look into switching recording software.
@@EquisetumGaming glad to be of any assistance! damn my hour count might be similar, but since I am a disabled person for the time being, I admit to have had been playing a lot on pirate version, so idk how many exactly... first "loose" money went to RDR2. I kinda glossed over the usage of "Locked" mode when it comes to Graphics Settings, to optimize this game you really don't want to use an ingame preset like "High" or "Ultra", they kinda moved the sliders around randomly, Ultra doesn't even correspond to BenchmarkKing's settings. It's way nicer and runs smoother. Win-win. According BenchmarKing - I am not a strict follower of his channel, just used his settings for this game and Cyberpunk, because the way he charts everything, every option is convincing and the way he describes all the settings is useful for any setup (mine's old but gold, I use Loseless Scaling too - might be worth a look at m'lady, although I've no idea how that would impact recording) and overall I've no idea about Game Recording nowadays. When I was kinda into it OBS was just making its way into streaming and recording as a HUGE improvement, before it was either a recording device or a separate computer just to record. Seems you know your stuff though if you're saying something about OBS-Nvidia correlations - I'm afraid I won't be of much more help in this regard. The only thing I can do is still recommend his channel because from the two videos I've watched a bunch of times now - he seems to be so into it that it's really possible that he says something about recording somewhere. "Best OBS/ recording settings BenchmarkKing" might be a phrase to start the journey. Please let me know how it's going. Your videos are soothing my anxiety, although I'd make your voice a bit louder, just a tinnny bit. Have a good one!
also managing CPU usage might be a clue, afaic recording mostly involves CPU, I don't know your specs but from what I can see on the screen, it must be a decent computer. Maybe putting either the game or the recording software on "High" priority in the task manager could help. Also go into the game's settings (right click) and make it always run as Administrator and DISABLE fullscreen optimization or however it's called. Depending on the setup, turning the windows "Game Mode" on or off can help with stuff, and of course turn OFF "Game Bar" in Windows settings, it's all easily searchable in Windows searchbar. You can also change the Energy Plan (highly recommended) - search for "Energy Plan" and put it into High Performance (there are 3rd party plans that make things even more performance oriented but it suffices). Stuttering while recording might also be an issue of pure transfer, how are the games and record's destination placed? Are they both on SSDs? There are so many things to consider while tinkering with this game's performance that all the things I've so far mentioned are just a scratch. I wish you understand all this technobabble. RDR2 made me transist from a cowboy to a netrunner, lol.
I'll have to play with all the settings again in a week or two. (I'm that far ahead in recording right now because I'm going out-of-town this week. No worries, though! I have uploads scheduled for release waiting on the backend of my channel for the duration of my trip.) I put in most of my gaming hours first as a stress-reliever when the writing on the wall said I was in the process of losing my old job, then again as a stress-reliever while I was search for a new job, and now as a "there is nothing worth watching on TV or online with all the political bs commentary and ads running" escape from the rest of the world. Most of the other gaming creators I watch don't play RDR2 even outside of videos/streaming, so trying to figure out optimization settings for recording the game hasn't been easy. (The Horizon games have built-in optimization testing that is a lot better than what RDR2 has, so they haven't been as difficult to figure out.) The games those other creators do play are graphics-intense, but looking into the settings they use on those games only helps so much. I'm glad if my videos help you in any way. Watching other creators play through games certainly helped me get through some rough times, and if I can give back to the gaming community in a similar way, then I'm fulfilling the whole reason why I wanted to start this channel in the first place. I'll work on audio settings too, when I get back from my trip. (I'm actually going away to record some real-world stock footage to use for a new story/life philosophies channel I've been wanting to start.)
could you mind providing your PC specs? this game ran awfully bad for me on a mid-end machine
I'm working with an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X Processor, a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, and 32.0GB of RAM. (I'm also running Windows 11.) Originally Horizon: Forbidden West was going to need the RTX 4080 to run on PC, but they lowered that when it finally released.
Equisetum Gaming, great video bro
Thanks, glad you like it!
Hey
Heyla! 😊
Remember that if you really like this game and want your own character/story, join a red dead role play server
I might do that someday when I get bored of Red Dead Online. I have several head-cannon background stories for my RDO character that would potentially be fun to explore on a role play server... if they have mods that would allow for us to keep and bond with donkeys and mules along with our horses. 😄
That is the beautiful Mustang tiger horse. I love that horse right now.I can't get him because i'm now playing as john.
He's definitely one of my favorite horses in the game. I bought one of the tiger-stripes for my RDO character too after taming this one for John.
Fire playthrough keep it up
Thanks! I'm having a lot of fun with this playthrough!
I’d completely missed the detail that Micah had selected Dewberry Creek. Wide open from all ends. I wonder what might’ve happened if they’d stayed there.
I think it would have been interesting to have Colm O'Driscoll set up a more permanent camp in the Dewberry Creek location so that we could have seen a comparison or a "what might have been" scenario. I would have loved it if sometime during the game we could have seen a flashflood come down that creek bed. Would have been awesome!
That is a great idea. Also, to try and not spoil it for those who don’t for certain yet, Micah was reporting to a certain agency who without a doubt intended the gang harm. What if he had been instructed to lead the camp to that spot? Ok, I completely failed at not spoiling it. Along with the flood threat the Pinkertons could’ve been planning on flanking the gang from all sides at some point at that camp site. Maybe. The last minute change to a better spot might’ve foiled some other plan we don’t know about.
I love that idea. I also fully believe Micah was ratting on the gang long before the Guarma incident.
@@EquisetumGaming I think so too. I believe maybe someone got to Micah shorty after Blackwater. Maybe in Strawberry. He started making deals for himself. And lord, I got so tired of Dutch too. I would avoid his missions until I couldn’t. I don’t believe a single plan of his ever succeeded. And his ultimate plan never changed no matter what happened. “One more score. Noise. Disappear. Don’t know where though.” Sure Dutch. Anyway, my low honor playthrough has been very profitable. Arthur has over $11,000 this time. He could leave if he wanted, but he won’t because the game doesn’t offer that option. Ah well. We’ll see what happens.
Sorry for the delayed response. I've been away for a few days' vacation. But yes, I think Micah had been making deals for himself even before we start the game. (I've wondered for a long time if the whole reason why Dutch keeps him on is because Micah may be blackmailing him in some way.) And Dutch shows some classic narcistic behaviors where he always has to be the center of attention and can't stand to have people question him. When people do question him, he'll belittle them into doubting themselves and their own observations.
One of my complaints about the game is how they change your guns for certain missions. I know what I want to use by god! On another subject you taught me how little I know about sheep, other than the onomatopoeia for the sound they make, and that they are sheared for wool. I had no idea there were different kinds! Now look how much smarter I am. You have to look really hard, but it’s there I swear. Smarter! But what do you expect from a channel called Equisetum Gaming? I had to look up the word Equisetum by the way, and had no idea how to pronounce it until I heard you say it. Lord! Oh well. Maybe slower, but I’m on my way. Hee hee
I get very frustrated when the game changes my guns and what type of ammunition I'm shooting. I've mentioned in other videos how I like to use high velocity in my primary and express in my off-hand, but that frequently gets replaced by regular rounds if I'm not paying attention. I'm glad I taught you something about sheep. I kinda wish my parents had kept theirs after I was born, but they would have needed to buy more land in order to make raising them profitable. (There's not enough grazing area on our little homestead to cut down on feed costs.) One of my exes raised cattle, and another one's family had a horse boarding stable and also kept a few racehorses. I miss being around livestock. As for the channel name... Pennsylvania is coal country and most of our coal deposits formed from plant material that came from the Carboniferous period. Equisetum are the descendants of the Equisetophyta family of plants that made up many Carboniferous forests... but now those descendants are tiny by comparison. I love to go fossil hunting around local coal deposits which were deemed too small to be mined, and I have a few ancient Equisetum fossils in my collection.
I’m currently doing a low honor play through as well. You’ve inspired me. I hogtied the treasure hunter and threw him off the cliff. I felt guilty at first but I truly believe I’m becoming a more calloused Arthur as I go along. I liked playing high honor style and ending up a hero, but there’s something liberating about deciding to throw honor to the wind. I can’t wait to see how it ends. I’m trying to time my play through and viewing of your enjoyable videos so that I play the scenes myself before I watch you do it. What fun it is.
However, I’m also not just shooting everyone, like my son when he played. The little monster. Also trying not to harm horses. But definitely being colder than my first play through. I shot the guy who raced me on my horse because when he lost the second time he murdered his horse. I lost honor for that! Oh well
I like playing high honor, but the purpose of this particular low honor playthrough is to show that Arthur can still have morals while being a true outlaw. Admittedly, I have had to cut and restart a few episodes during recording when things became a little too murder-spree-like. I've never surrendered to the law in this game, and sometimes it's difficult for me to not shoot back. (There's an upcoming episode I haven't uploaded yet where I really push the line, and I'm planning on clipping the scene for a RUclips Short after I release it! lol)
I can dig it. About surrendering to the law though. Say early in the game when you have a $300 plus bounty in a county but you have no money yet, maybe three dollars to Arthur’s name, you can start a fight (or some other ruckus) and surrender when the law comes. It removes your entire bounty but only costs you the three bucks you had. I do that because while I enjoy gunfights with the occasional bounty hunter for some reason that red color on the map irritates me after a while. I think most people play while having large bounties in every county. I mean outlaws are supposed to have a price on their head. Maybe I’m a weirdo who likes a clean, beige map. Maybe I should I should start ignoring my bounties instead of paying them like some kind of respectable citizen. Especially in low honor
@@trasade The first time I got a bounty playing this game was from rescuing Micah from the noose in Strawberry, and I didn't realize that the bounty hunters wouldn't follow me across the border. I spent several in-game days hunting animals so I could sell pelts at the trapper and earn enough money to pay off the bounty price at Riggs Station. I've never liked having an active bounty in the game, because bounty hunters tend to show up at the most inopportune times. I'm also finding that while playing low honor, patrols show up at random more often, but so far, fighting off their ambushes hasn't landed me in any more trouble than what I get from shooting up O'Driscoll ambushes.
This is the perfect ASMR. Just your calm voice and my favorite game. Keep up the great work 🎉❤
Thank you! I've been wondering if there would be any interest in an ASMR Red Dead series. I would find making the videos relaxing... Arthur or John fishing, hunting, just riding around and exploring. 😊
Are you AmelieOfTheSea?
Nope. Never even heard of her. I watch mainly guy gamers.
@@EquisetumGaming Hmm. You sound very similar to her. She was a wizard at the game Satisfactory. Recently deleted her videos and channel. Anyway, nice video.
@@CarterMMD I had to look up Satisfactory. Interesting concept for a game, but doubt I could come up with content for something like that. I hope she's doing alright whatever happened. Thanks again!
You probably learn this later but you got to get next to the horse and press the mount button so that you pull the rider off and take his place on his horse. If you shoot or rope a rider their horses always bolt.
Yeah, I keep forgetting that it's actually the horse I want rather than the rider. I'm too used to shooting witnesses and adopting (rather than stealing) whatever horses are left stumbling around after the chaos is through.
I like the sound of your voice. I liked that I learned something about animal skeletons. I haven’t finished the video yet but I will. I am currently obsessed with RDR 2. On my second play through which I told myself I would do at low honor. I failed and am high honor again. I will have to go through a third time and just be a cold blooded bushwhacking piece of horse excrement. I will be watching your channel from now on though. Very pleasant stuff.
Thank you! It's taken me a long time to get used to the sound of my voice on recordings. It helps that I have a better mic than what I had prior to starting this gaming channel. I'm glad that my video taught you something too! I'm finding that playing low honor is actually a bit easier than I thought it would be, although it does frustrate me that we gain positive honor every time we donate to the camp funds. I just want to upgrade my gear! Lol! I hope you continue to enjoy new episodes as I get them posted! 😊
i like your gaming style pls continue like that !
Thank you! I hope the videos are getting better as each of my series continues.
Good luck being horrible! I don’t think I could do it
I debated trying to do a playthrough with the goal of getting people to hate Arthur, but I gave up on that idea for fear of people hating me instead. (Maybe I'll try that later if this series goes well.) For now, I will hold Arthur to some moral standards with this low honor playthrough, and you can see my current list of "rules" on the playlist description for this series. Thanks for watching! 💛
My favorite mechanic is the ability cards
Ability cards in RDO are amazing. I love how you can customize them to your playing style and interchange them for different activities/mission types.
I love running across Mr. Black & Mr. White.
Their series of stranger missions are definitely some of my favorites!
Hi, the Agent Milton campsite scene is poorly written but it was what's necessary for 2 reasons. 1. First to showcase the idealistic differences between Dutch and Milton. 2. To shoehorn in Ross meeting John. Yes I agree it's completely dumb to let your enemy walk in and do nothing but they were pretty much writing this backwards.
I agree with the necessity of the meeting, but I think there could have been better ways to go about it. Like maybe an encounter in Rhodes or Saint Denis, somewhere that innocent people could have gotten caught in any crossfire or where neither side would have the advantage of being on their home turf.
The Grizzlies are way too beautiful for how 'empty', content-wise, they are. I kinda wished Flaco could've been an ally/not just part of a quick duel. Helping him and his men escape the Pinkertons and do some robberies in the snowy mountains would've been a blast.
Agreed! The Grizzlies are definitely too empty! Makes trying to do the Bounty in Every State achievement difficult. And Flaco would have been a fun ally. Considering the Del Lobo gang lives on after his death, I think it would be interesting to see what happens with them had he lived!
Keep it up! I'll be watching through the series and I'll stay at it.
Cool :)
