Indigo's 1st Airbus A320neo takes off from Begumpet Airport - Hyderabad 🇮🇳
Indigo Airlines' & Asia's first Airbus A320neo (VT-ITC) takes off at Begumpet Airport (VOHY), also known as the old Hyderabad airport for the very first time on the first day of India Aviation 2016 event.
There are a lot of 'firsts' associated with this aircraft:
- Indigo Airlines' first A320neo aircraft
- Asia's first A320neo aircraft
- World's first A320neo female pilot, Capt. Karuna Singh operated this aircraft to/from the event at BPM.
On 11th March 2016, Indigo received it's first ever Airbus A320neo. VT-ITC was the first A320neo aircraft delivered to Indigo. Since then, few more A320neos, VT-ITA, VT-ITD, VT-ITE & VT-ITF have joined the Indigo fleet (as of 7th July 2016).

    Indico flight vere vere A flight-poor service security-free journey that is the worst of the worst"",i.e., when the flight climbs into the sky and flies"? The danger of landing is still not safe for our belongings, and more important lying is that the passengers are being insulted and intimidated.

      Indigo took delivery of their very first CFM Leap-1A powered NEO in Sept. 2020. Aircraft in the video (VT-ITC) is Indigo's first A320Neo aircraft and is powered by PW1100G engines.

      @@DnyaneshMankar Oh. K. Thnx for Info. That means it is the LEAP Rival, the PWGTF! PW1100G is also called as PWGTF. It's full form is - *P* for Pratt *W* for Whitney *G* for Geared *T* for Turbo *F* for Fan *PWGTF*

    So Quiet! I love Airbus

    Those fuel saving engines sure are quiet! Pratt and Whitney has a winner here. Too bad the engine is having cooling problems and has to idle for 3 minutes. But Pratt claims they have a hardware and software fix that is being installed now and engines delivered after June will has start times equal to most other engines and this plane will be retrofitted.

      +bob lackey Even I was surprised how quiet the engines were. Indigo, which is known for it's short TAT would be dying to get the engine issues fixed. FYI: I shot this video standing just a few feet away from the APU exhaust of an Etihad 787-9 (Dreamliner). I like to think that the noise from the APU might have affected a bit.

      +Dnyanesh Mankar Yes the engine was designed to burn 15 to 20 % less fuel, make less noise and produce less pollution in the atmosphere. This engine is suppose to be so quiet that many people living near an airport shouldn't notice it much. But large fleet air carriers want it as it should save them millions of dollars in fuel expense compared to current engines. All jet engines experience a little rotor bowing when cooling down but this engine is having more of that. I've read part of the problem is the tolerances are closer to get the performance promised. But the rubbing of parts due to uneven cooling was not expected and showed up during Airbus testing last fall. That pushed the program back several months causing delays. There is a competing engine from CFM called the Leap which does not have the geared turbofan but a traditional design with parts made of composites and higher tolerances and apparently it hasn't experience cooling issues in testing so far. I've read in a few places that it's not achieving the fuel savings promised but CFM claims it is meeting all goals. That engine goes into service later this year to compete against the engines in your fine video. Indigo has a huge Airbus A320neo order with Pratt and Whitney engines on the first batch. If Pratt fails to get the cooling issue fully resolved, then Indigo may switch to the Leap engine which would be bad news for Pratt who is hoping to capture a bigger piece of the A320neo market than CFM. As you probably know, on A320ceo (current engine option) the carrier chooses between CFM and IAE engines. CFM is 50 % GE in the U. S. and 50 % owned by a French company. IAE is a partnership between Pratt & Whitney of the U. S. and German and Japanese companies with Pratt owing the majority share. I think CFM has about 52 % of A320ceo sales.

      +bob lackey Although the PW1100Gs (& CFM Leap 1-A) are designed to be fuel efficient & make less noise, it's being said that the A320neo won't outperform the A320ceo (with sharklets) in terms of performance (climb rate, high altitude cruising, etc). On the flipside, it should benefit the passengers & the communities living near the airport.

    • @boblackey1
      @boblackey1 8 лет назад

      +Dnyanesh Mankar Thank you for that insight Dnyanesh. Do you think Indigo will have Leap engines on part of their big order?

    • @DnyaneshMankar
      @DnyaneshMankar 8 лет назад

      +bob lackey IMO, Indigo went ahead with PW1100G just to secure their lead and Indigo being frugal as it is, has already assigned its two A320neos (VT-ITC & VT-ITD) to DEL-HYD & DEL-BLR routes respectively (as of now). I believe that their Neos will mostly ply on routes having flying time of 2 hours and above for the very obvious reasons. If Pratt & Whitney manages to fix the issues of the PW1100G on time, it's unlikely that Indigo would switch to CFM's Leap 1A. Time will tell.
