Adam way overestimates how much NJ viewers actually like him. People watch because he's a vehicle for the messiness in hip hop culture. You could replace on camera Adam with any creepy perverted white dude and there would be no difference. He's great at recognizing talent and setting up scenarios that make for interesting content, but he's not particularly insightful or interesting himself. Housephone and everyone on biggest bros have fans because they have unique perspective on music and fashion. AD has fans because he's funny and he's good at looking at drama and news from multiple viewpoints. Lush fans lime him because he's willing to be vulnerable, sometimes too vulnerable, and he's a good interviewer. Trell has an interesting life story and can pull insight from the experience of a gangbanger or a boss or just a homeboy. Adam has no interesting personality traits that's why he has to attach himself to people and events. I'm not even trying to hate. Credit where it's due he built a hugely successful media company, but he clearly doesn't understand his role.

I must say its been years since I watched Joe. He’s come such a long way! He did so well staying focused. He moved on when it felt appropriate. He asked pointed questions without sounding like he was being snakey. He didnt break off into tangents and make it about him. He didnt scream angrily. It was phenomenal. Im proud of this guy.

Something interesting to me is that on the Richard Spencer topic Adam seems to admit that they had to use kiddie gloves during that interview, but he never gives the controversial black people he has on the show the same luxury. When he has drill rappers on it's a pretty obvious money play for views, he invites them on, asks about their popular opps and asks all the controversial questions.. but with Richard Spencer he wanted to hold a conducive and productive "interview?"
