    Time to re-up in the Ragtime Brigade! I wonder how many people discovered ragtime because of "The Sting"? For a few people, Paul Newman and Robert Redford were merely incidental to the music . . . but the movie WAS fun, and the music WAS great!

    James Scott Wrote some great pieces however.overall Scotts music its not as well developed as Joplins Scott often writes a strain and repeats it an octave higher a not very sophisticated composing technique Joplin never had any amateur sounding music like Scott however Scotts best rags are outstanding

    • @kafenwar
      @kafenwar 2 года назад

      James Scott's repetitions and riffs actually had a huge impact on the creation of the jazz vocabulary of Kansas City musicians. Yet I have the feeling that a lot of these repititious-sounding rags of his (especially towards the latter 1910s) were rather cynically churned out, and structurally they are almost identical to each other.
