Hell's bells and satanic modulation ! Sounds great !
Very cool demo. I was wondering if you'd experienced any of the noise issues mentioned on the nonlinearcircuits product page for this module. I couldn't quite understand the gist of it. It said it would deliver some noise when no input was attached to it. I couldn't really think of a situation, other than feedback patching, where you wouldn't have something coming into the input, so I thought I might be misunderstanding the kind of noise it produces. Hopefully not some kind of interference between modules. I really wouldn't know - I don't know enough about electronics. I was wondering if you knew or had any noise issues with it. Thanks.
Truly greater than the sum of its inputs.
Great demonstration of this module, thanks.
Thank you!
I wonder if Plague could make an ultimate modulator for the SSF Zero-Point - so gnarly.
not sure how I've missed this video over the years since I bought my res eq? great video I feel like I found a kindred soul... but definitely one that has dug deeper into this thing than me, but I'm following you every step... because i've eeked out those sounds.... how?? I don't remember how I got there ? sounds good!
Superbe, merci.
Thanks for making this 🌊
do you have a link for were we can get a schematic and build one for ourselves?
Check Random Source website for pcb and Haible website for détails
💙
What makes it hold a sequence position like in the video about half way through? I have a Noise Engineering Horologic Solum - would thar work ok since it has odd timing selections?
It would be nice to hear some music, solo line, bass line...
Instead, you're hearing a demo of what the oscillator is capable of sonically. It's a short demo. I'm glad it went through timbres, rather than the same timbre playing a bass line. This isn't a 303, BTW. It's a Buchla oscillator. They were often used in experimental music, where a wide range of timbres is useful. I know I can make melodies with any oscillator. I don't need the demo video to point that out.
Awesome! I want to do a similar 19" rack build.
wow, like, great sounding module. but *incredible* patching... nice work mate!!
Thanks!!!!
Thank! Geat demo!
tuning seems off.
Send some feedback... send some feedback... send some feedback
Very well done and greatly explained! Thank you!
can it self oscillate?
No
@@zekamodular thank you!
@@zekamodularI always thought it was strange that it has a 1v/o input when it can’t self oscillate. Maybe there’s something I’m missing. Great sounding filter though.
@@ericMT you can feed the v/oct with the same signal you use for the oscillator, plus a offset and you will get nice harmonics.
I need all of the R*S modules. And thanks for the info on the lack of heat compensation. That makes this amazing sounding module approximately 10x more desirable to me. I'm a guitarist who does fripp style drones, and that drifting is something I desire. I might even go for this before the phaser.
Hi, These are the Haible designs. This filter is really really nice, and not too difficult to build
Agreed with the other comment- love the quadrature example but unsure what's happening. Can I trouble you for a clarification of what's patched into what?
I think the bandpass out is patched into the input. Put the switch on lo for low frequency and each output becomes an lfo. It makes a quadrature lfo.
The blend between four sounds is possible due to the phase shifted output of the filter. Each output is phase shifted by 90° to the previous one.
@@zekamodular So, just to be clear, the four outputs are summed with the oscillator in a quad vca?
They modulate 4 VCAs
Nice demo and unit! I have never seen one so small looking, the only builds I've seen are rack mount ones.
It's not so small as it's a deep enclosure...
@@zekamodular Ah, I see
The quadrature modulation example is fantastic. Great demo!
Thanks!
did you build it yourself? If so what kind of vactrols did you use? sounds great btw 👍
Hi. I build it myself and made my own vactrols. It's really simple, you can find how to do it on the internet. You may use ready made vactrols also. You can ask Andrew from Nonlinearcircuits he's really helpful.
@@zekamodular Thanks. Yeah, the build guide has some info on how to make the DIY vactrols. I just wondered because I thought your Resonate sounded great!
@@Bestmann3n hahaha thank you! My vactrols may not be super light proof so you should be able to build a better sounding one!
Nice! I notice you have 2 units that look a bit different. Do they sound different too? Is there a reason to keep both? :)
It was the same res eq. With the same components. One had a on/off/on switch for the feedback so I could cut it. I sold one as it's a big module and I needed money for the Haible builds.
Nice demo, thanks!
Very useful and nice video!! Some disclosures on the weirdness of this great module👍🏻
Is it true the command and conquer module brings it alive ?
Not only. Whatever clock works, Maths, or an enveloppe, or Pamela etc... Divide&Conquer is more or less done to work with it but not only
Definitely one of the coolest and most unique sequencers out there right now. I love how easily this module spans both stochastic and deterministic processes. The only thing that would improve this would be an integrated sample and hold for the gates.
the nonlinear q isnt just amplitude, its a nonlinear feedback path that introduces chaos into the circuit which is why it has audibly different timing when it's turned up
Any chance you know how many mA of +12v it needs?
Some nice rich sounds for this one! All of the Random*Source modules kick serious ass. I love every single one I own. My favorite is the ÷N COM.
While most people seem to favour the VCFQ (obviously it is more versatile) soundwise I personally like the VCFS more. IMHO it sounds smoother and offers more sweet spots.
fonitronik you probably know better than me as your knowledge is great in electronics. For me they are two must have as they sound really different. Honestly I rediscovered the vcfs for this demo and it’s REALLY great!
I probably agree, tend to use at least one VCFQ in ping/precussive duties, generally used as filter tends to bloom pretty fast for me(so you need to lower down signal, etc, etc...), so a bit hard to control. While VCFS seems to be more stable and smoother in most cases IMHO
i lit erally just bought this module, it's scary!!
Nice patching and demo!
zdarma thanks!
Awesome mate!
Thanks!
got mine + kareishuu (PCBs) on the way :) NLC is my fav
sync is for short triggers. you used a gate signal. there is no gate to trigger converter on the module.
Great demos of the nonlinearcircuits modules! Thanks!
Thank you!
How is the tracking on these?
Sorry for the late answer. I'm not a maniac with tracking as I don't use quantizers, but they track well.
Thanks for this and actually explaining what you were doing. This is actually all I needed to see/hear/know to understand what the bindubba can do.
I'm glad it's useful. It's a very nice sequencer
Cool demo, tnx.
Very nice - thanks for making this!
Thanks. Maybe I should involve a dog in the demo?
