Absolute Power #1 - DC's Summer Crossover Event REVIEWED
I love checking out random issues. I'm never going to read this. Not that I don't want to, but because I've got thousands of back issues that aren't Nova that I still haven't read! Keep up the cool stuff!
Need to get it!
Haven’t grabbed this yet bc I wasn’t sure how it was but after your video think I’ll pick it up
That's awesome 👍 thanks for watching!
Great review! I grabbed the same cover
thanks defintyly gonna check out the next few issues
I may be doing reviews of those soon, too. Thanks for watching!
I was able to get a original copy in great condition a few months ago for $3....been going back and forth if I want to sell it but at this point I'm most likely just going to keep it in my collection & get it graded.
@@jayadonis5328 Awesome 👍 That's a lucky find!
The weird background art is actually wrapping paper.
Ah, thanks for that! Now that you mention it, that's something I do remember hearing. I guess "computer generated graphics" was barely a thing at that point, so that makes more sense. Creative way to cheat the backgrounds! Thanks for subscribing!
Loved Zeck's energy in this one.
I do too.
My little brother Picked this baby up off the stand down the street from my house at a Beckers Store in Toronto in 1984. It was not June though. Back by about two months or more. More like March. One day I was flipping through his stack and ended up trading him for some comic of mine. Cant remember which. Once I flipped through it, i was like WTF, where are they, whats going on? Wow. I knew Id be getting the rest of the series now. I was 13 years old. Moved from Vancouver to Ontario in 1983. Brought my comics with me. Lol.
Erik Larsen's art is pretty cool, i liked it since i was a teen in the 90s. When comics were great. Now, not so much, i don't follow Erik,i don't care for him anymore. But again, hus art is cool, as an artist/ illustrator i was influenced by him and all the image guys. Savage dragon i stopped reading after issue 6 i think.
People were all up and arms in my shop when this came out. I thought it was cool. It made sense that becoming a energy type being would be the next evolution for his powers. I believe though it was a subconscious or maybe conscious effort by DC to "depower" him. Breaking to the old thought that Supes is too OP.
I bought it off the rack when it came out. I was never a big fan of Superman, so this was a jumping on point for me. It got me reading Morrison's JLA when they launched that, too. Too bad it never really went anywhere and is mostly forgotten.
@@KaufmanIsAlive Morrison run or Blue and Red Superman? I really liked Morrison run on JLA. I never read a ton of Supes outside of the JLA either. But like you I picked this up, and when Death Of came out I got that whole run until his return. Mullet Superman was too much for me lol.
I meant Superman Blue never went anywhere, although you're right I guess they did do Red/Blue which was a cool concept to try and salvage the Blue Superman. Loved Morrison's JLA
Good take. Here’s mine in case you’re interested. Cheers! ruclips.net/video/ZvS1cL93x54/видео.htmlsi=qrC-XzkKrxd5ru_L
The Bay Guardian first appeared in #245 (and had a few cameos afterwards).
@@descendo Ah, that's an issue I am missing, I hadn't seen him before! Thanks!
Totally different is called progression. But since none of the characters age may as well go back to status quo. In my opinion they should have kept Krakoa in some capacity (or having it damaged or vanish in a way you know it will be back or more relevant again in the future) though some characters and or groups and or eras would use it more than others, with some living on it, and some wanting nothing to do with it at all....
@@cliffwoodbury5319 The impression I got from Fall of House of X/Rise of Powers of X #5 was that Krakoa DID "vanish in a way you know it will back". I feel if creators want to tell more stories in that setting, they will be able to, much like the Age of Apocalypse era. At least, I hope so because I agree with what you are saying, and I also wish we were still in Krakoa. I enjoyed the paradigm shift, there was much to explore yet.
No bueno
Dead lock is my best antihero mow
Good information mow
Those are the covers I picked up. Still trying to name everyone.
Yeah, I know right?
That’s fantastic, thanks for sharing
Cool series! Keep them coming
Wow, fantastic video. Thanks a lot!
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing
Amazing video!👍👏 I just began my comic book collection and found Toon Haven. They have an incredible range of digital comics for every genre, including the hard to find ones. Lifetime updates too!😁
Super helpful, totally worth watching
Great video as always, keep up the great work
That cover WOW!
👍
The cool thing about Absolute Power Its got 90s style characters with a modern drawing style.
Brett Booth is a problem
Good review 👍 I do not and never had any problems with Liefeld's art. I am still a big fan. You are right about the Winter Soldier remix of this story. Also the MCU Falcon borrowed from Heroes Reborn Captain America by having him in the Miilitary/Air Force . The 616 comic origin of the Falcon is so bad and convoluted that I salute Jeph Loeb and Rob Liefeld for this updated origin.
Good review 👏 Very good issue with superb art. I do think the border on the cover is necessary to seperate the Ultimate Marvel from regular Marvel.
I agree, and that's good that they do that, I just wish they didn't cover 1/3 of the illustrations, just a small gripe.
Good review 👍 I loved this issue . I remember Magneto making an appearance in the previous issue (X-FORCE #24) remaking Graymalkin. Capullo is superb. Nicieza is superb. Great inks and colours too. The first few pages reminded me of Fantastic Four # 52 when T'Challa takes down the Fantastic Four. X-FORCE #25 was a very high quality comic book . The quality would did slightly after this issue until Age of Apocalypse.
Oh damn didn't know you were such a good artist you got employed by dc so you must know when things are bad
@@haze725 Just sharing my opinion. Art is subjective.
Picked up mine today bro. Only one in my store. Thanks for sharing.
Did you grab because of my video or did you already pick it up? Just curious.
@@KaufmanIsAlive a few hours before I saw your video bro.
Jubilee's new design looks so good
@@mariaeduarda-rk4hr I agree
@@awjeez Lol! Remember to keep your comments respectful! In all seriousness, I want to try and keep my channel positive, while pointing out rightful criticisms, and I would like to keep politics out of it.
@@KaufmanIsAlive No worries I was not talking about the politics. More with Rob lol. I actually liked his stuff back on Hawk and Dove. That was the only time he had a hard editor and made he him hone in some of his crazy anatomy. His covers have been pretty good as of late. But then I saw a book where he reverted back to what I call him just rushing it. :)
He's also very influenced by Kirby.
Awe yeah!! Some his best work imo. He had some very tight inking inkers over him on this book so hats off to them. His final pencils have a lot of finding lines as they are called.
Good call I don't think I mentioned the inkers.
Yea I really dig his art. Old school flavor and very cinematic too. This was a very action packed issue
Thank you for the kind review.
Yea I seen Meteorman. Pretty good for it's time.
Were these bagged? I can't remember.
Nope
How do you get this
They have them at comic shops for free with a purchase. Ask for one next time you are in one.
@@KaufmanIsAlive oh okay thank you!
J Scott's did a great cover. I have that one.
Wow that cover's insane!
If you're referring to the thumbnail, that's a double splash on the interior!
@@KaufmanIsAlive Yea I figure that was an interior page. The cover shown here is pretty bad ass. And like you said it shows what is happening in the book. It is a rarity these days. :)
@@awjeez Yes! I love covers that show what happens in the actual comic!
Dat female Haunt though…😮
I almost forgot!!
Ugh, I miss the animated savage dragon
It's on Peacock iydk
@KaufmanIsAlive I didn't! Thanks! New episodes or just the mid-late 90s series?
@@lvx5317 Just replays of the original, all the episodes last I checked.
Just preordered the Rogue Variant for Uncanny X-men 1 and Red band Wolverine Revenge. Do awesome work man . Keep it up. Definitely subscribed to your channel
Much appreciated! 👍
I haven't picked these up yet. Might wait for a Volume collection. The cover is great. Yea not feeling these interiors. Are they changing the interior artist every issue or something?
No it's the same artist in every issue. I think by issue 3 he started rushing, that'd be my guess. Forgot to mention that in the video. The first issue looked pretty good.
@@KaufmanIsAlive Ah. Yea the deadlines could be catching up to them.
Love Rons stuff. He seems to be having a little bit of comeback.
