    @1:10.56 the wording of this question is poor. “Top edge” for me means the top of the table. So the ribbon would wrap around the table like a gift. So it would it be 1.7m x2 it makes no sense to put a ribbon around the *side* of the table, you’d be there all day trying to do that! Am i wrong?

    Hi, a quick question. I may be wrong but question 8 on the calculator paper. Wouldn't it be 8600 ÷ 215 = 40 because it would still be the front face of the brick on show when building a wall wouldn't it? So 7900 ÷ 215 = 36.744 rounded = 37 bricks 8600 ÷ 215 = 40 37 x 40 x 9 = 13320 x £1.50 = £19980 + 75 total £20, 055.00 I may be wrong but wondered if calculations were based from the front face always being on show. Thanks for you time by the way, I've learned so much from your videos 🙂

    Hi I really struggle with converting metric units so is there a good way to memorise them

    • @SimonHTT
      @SimonHTT 16 часов назад

      The starting point is that they are always in multiples of 10, 100, or 1,000. I find the best way is to relate them to real life. For example, think of your finger being about 1cm wide, you can then see from your ruler that 10mm = 1cm. Stretch out your arms and it's very approximately 1 metre from finger tip to finger tip, so you can think how many finger widths would that be, 10, 100 or 1,000? And if in doubt, use 1,000 as that is the most common factor for converting metric measurements, including for volume and weight (1,000ml = 1 litre, 1,000g = 1kg, 1,000m = 1km).

      31 out of 60 is what they say for Level 2, so just over half marks. But, you want to be aiming much higher, say at least 35.

      Do you mean the 38 minutes? We're trying to take 40 minutes from 10:02, so take off 2 minutes first to take it back to a nice round time of 10 o'clock, before then subtracting the rest of the 38 minutes.

    • @SimonHTT

      Unfortunately you need to know all of the topics to a reasonable standard to pass, you can't afford to ignore any. You might want to try looking a level 1 paper first though to help refresh your memory, rather than going straight to level 2.

    Hello, question 14 , I think you are not quite right because the triangle needs to be painted 3 times, but you only calculated one time paint. I think it should be area × 3 times ÷ 12

    • @SimonHTT
      @SimonHTT 10 дней назад

      That's exactly what I've done. The area of one wall is 25.875, I multiplied by 3 to get 77.625 and then divided by 12 to get 6.4... so 7 tins of paint. Watch the video from 49:00.

    HI Simon I have failed my city and guild maths level 2exams. But since I am following your videos for TQUK exam. I got a bit of hope that I may pass my exam this time. Do you suggest I should sit for TQUK instead city and guild as I failed it before.

    • @SimonHTT
      @SimonHTT 10 дней назад

      That's a tough question. As far as I'm aware, once you have your certificate, employers and colleges won't be interested in which exam board you used, so I would say go with whichever works best for you. The underlying content shouldn't vary by much. However, depending on how you want to take the exam, both exam boards offer paper-based and online exams, you might find you have to travel further to find a centre which uses TQUK.

    Hi Simon could you explain to me question 3 on calculator question please

    • @SimonHTT
      @SimonHTT 16 дней назад

      HI, the starting point for this question is that if you have more gardeners, the work should take less time. So, let's try to get away from the number of gardeners by first thinking about how much work there is in total. We had 2 people, each working for 4 hours, so 8 hours in total, and that's how long it would take if there was only 1 gardener. Because we've actually got 5 gardeners now, we can divide the 8 hours of work by the 5 of them, 8 / 5 = 1.6 hours each, and because they will all be working at the same time that's also the total time it will take them all. However, this is more than the 1.5 hours that the manager thinks it will take so the answer is no. Hope that helps.

    hi, for Q12 i am not understanding the reasoning of 116% and not 16%

    • @SimonHTT
      @SimonHTT 16 дней назад

      When he says it is a 16% increase he means the number is 16% bigger than the original. So if the original is 100%, another 16% would take it up to 116%. As we want to find out the original without the extra 16%, we first divide by 116, to find 1%, then multiply by 100 to get us to 100%. If it's still not clear, look up reverse percentage increase which might explain things in a clearer way for you.

    your explanations are easy to follow, thank you. the problem i have is that the tests are online which make it difficult to show all the working as its a race against time to complete the exam within the given time, are there any exam centres where they still use physical paper instead of online?

    • @SimonHTT
      @SimonHTT 16 дней назад

      Hi, you definitely can still do physical papers, it's just finding the centres. I would expect the more traditional adult education colleges are more likely. Otherwise you might be able to find out from the exam boards (e.g. Pearson Edexcel) which centres are using their paper exams.

      Do you mean the marks, they usually be in brackets after each question, but that might get cut off on the video sometimes. If you use the link below the video you can find the original paper which will have everything on it.

    Hi Simon, Your videos are extremely helpful and easy to follow. My exam is with Highfield but i canr find anywhere to print of past papers (done the online ones) which exam board would you say is Similar to Highfield so i can print some papers? Thank you!

    • @SimonHTT
      @SimonHTT 20 дней назад

      You can find some Highfield papers here, ruclips.net/p/PLD5CWXRPCTb9K5DTYbWd-AOm7w6klAD2a, but they seemed to have moved the location of them so you won't be able to print them. You could try NCFE, they're reasonably similar. Here are my L2 videos for them, ruclips.net/p/PLD5CWXRPCTb85vdIJxH1Y3h_muSG7d5zR, and if you look just below each video I've put a link of where you can download the actual paper from, so you can print it off.

    • @SimonHTT
      @SimonHTT 23 дня назад

      Well spotted. There was a part b) that asked us to do a reverse calculation check. One of the ways you can do this is using the calculation of the area of total floor space and work backwards, i.e. 8.36 / 3.8 = 2.2.

    Hi, Simon, love the video, very clear instructions on how to answer these questions, however I do have an error in question 11 of the calculator test. At 1:01:04, you forget to include the £50 commission per car, meaning each daily value is actually higher, as is the final answer of £542.82. The rest of this seems fine from my perspective. I'm hoping this helps my sister complete her exams the year.

    • @SimonHTT
      @SimonHTT 23 дня назад

      I'm glad you like the video. In question 11, the £50 has already been added to the 1.25% to give £311.88. That figure has then been multiplied by the number of cars sold to get the daily totals, including all commission and bonuses.
