Toyota's non-existent batteries are vaporware. They don't exist as prototypes that can be manufactured, and no factories are under construction. They have delayed them and will continue to delay them because they want to sell you ICE cars built on their current production lines. The best batteries come from China, and will continue to come from there for the foreseeable future. Accept reality. And PS, the current batteries work just fine, within their limits; 300 miles is a lot of range between fill ups.

There was a similar event at an airport car park in England , although not caused by an EV m the resultant fire damaged a great many vehicles and caused problems for many people arriving from flights to discover they could either not access their vehicles , due to the fire , or that their vehicles had been destroyed , leaving many people stranded miles from home .

I visited China last month and tried out their Zeekr, Nio, LI, Xpeng. They are so much more competitive in terms of fit and finish, standard features, and innovation that match the Model S with a jaw-dropping value less than a base Model 3.. unlike us, who must have a deep pocket to afford one and still struggling where to find a reliable charger, the Assuie are excited to see them arriving this year, and they are laughing with open arms. They no longer have their own auto industry for long, so there is no protectionism to play in their politics over EVs and they welcome all the well-made but cheap EVs from China. Our governments here, due to partisanship had wasted so much of our time and tax money over foolish debates administration after administration, that they had missed many opportunities to bank on the critical sectors at the right timing. We used to lead the communication industry, but we fell behind on 5G. We applied sanctions and tariffs in the hope of slowing down our competitor but it didn't work. Fast forward 5 years later, we are now seeing a tremendous wave of EVs that truly gonna help us meet the emission target if we had the vision and will. We not only repeated the same mistake but were also childish enough to think the same tactic that failed us could work again this time around ??!! The wheel of time in history has proven that when an industry at its dusk, there is nothing we can do to stop the paradigm shift. Sadly, our political system has a bunch of politician crooks who are just good at talking, but lack the vision and willpower to get things done... After all, who is the greatest loser here? Not the politicians, not the big corp, it is us the taxpayers. Fooled me once shame on you, screwed me twice shame on me.

Had my BYD Seal 5 months and 7000km. 308 BHP (I bought the low powered version), luxurious interior, great fun to drive, per mile running costs of a motorbike and it cost $4000USD less than an equivalent Toyota Camry. It is by far the best car I have driven since I bought my first car 42 years ago....if these go on sale in North America without tariffs that would be the end of the automobile industry there and the government know it....
