Well that did not go to plan. In this episode we cause a major oil leak disrupt Superbike School and ruin our day at the Island with the 1996 GSXR 750. The big question is how much damage did we do to the new engine by not venting the catch can correctly.

Decided to turn the 98 into a track bike as well. Had a bunch of track parts laying around so made for a pretty straight forward process to get this one up and running.

And we are back. First run out after the winter break with new engine build. Engine has Corillio Rods, Kit Cams, Weisco high comp pistons, ported head. Running the new GSXR 1000 K8 front end as well with Brembos up front. Editied this video with Insta360 studio so may look a little different, seems a bit quicker to put an edit together. Filmed on the new ACEPro 2.

Your best bet is to put some stainless mesh in the catch can to help separate oil and vapor, then route the breather hose back into the airbox if possible. This way the negative pressure in the airbox pulls a vacuum on the crankcase reducing pumping losses. If rerouting isn’t possible, you should find a way to separate oil and vapor in the catch can as well as possible. Even better would be to have a little drain tube or valve on the catch can so you can drain the accumulated oil out of it.
Sorry, commented before watching the remainder of the video. I see now that it’s already reputed back to the Airbox. If it was, having the breather vent capped shouldn’t have caused any issues. Do you have a check valve or something in line prior to the Airbox? If you’re getting so much crankcase pressure that it’s pushing significant oil into the catch can and making seals leak you should do a leak down test on the engine. That’s indicative of worn piston rings.
Great vid but lose the music.🤨
music was a request of the rider. Consider it gone..
Great content I have 2 srads just bought a track bike 750 . That k8 1000 front end does it just fit straight on with no modifications . Im aware I need the front wheel spindle and calipers of a k8 also thanks Dave
Hi Goes straight in. Bearings are the same part number. You need the front wheel and all rest of teh K6 front end.
That catch tank your film is mine 😂 can’t tell you if it works yet as it’s still winter here in the Uk! I’ve just copied a few I’ve seen on line and various pictures I have of old race srads
@@iankirkby4602 that’s cool. Hope it works for you. Im pretty sure it’s correct. Thanks for watching.
Good luck with it mate, hopefully you are back on track soon
@@andyb2311 thanks. With any luck no major damage done.
Great footage mate
It’s crazy when you use them training the brain to not let off the gas to upshift.
@@mmotorcycles9497 yeah I’ll see how I go tomorrow
Right on man. Go get em
Nice bike
😂no ducati but honda rc30
Would have loved to see it start and have a run around the track . . . Just saying
yeah me too. hopefully they pull it out again. think it had issues with spark.
Nothing beats the cigarette livery days They just bring a spark to the bike
yeah it definitely take you back.
Honda sent out a full HRC engine towards the end of '93. Reckon that went back to Japan though...
mmm pretty🤩
Gran trabajo, que cantidad de aceite lleva y que viscosidad sae 5. 10 ,??? gracias
Looks great. How many laps did you do
Man I would want to ride the he’ll out of that.
hey.. whats ur sprocket size? ur are running alittle low on the SRAD RPM range maybe u could try 17/46-47 for ur srad... it will make 1000cc look like 600 :D Used to ride 1... i can say the SRAD 750 makes its power up top...
thanks, yeah I think you are right. was running 16/46 and have just swapped to 15/46. I will also try 15/47.
Anthony never rode a kawasaki in the ama, only in wsbk.
And Australian Super Bike, right?
No he rode the rc30 honda in his first year of asbk in his second year when he won he was on the honda rc45.2007 in his last year of racing he rode a kawasaki in asbk.
Good times!
Donate it to the Australian motor museum so that it doesnt get written off . R.I.P Anthony
⛔🏍
There’s some really cool bikes in that garage.
NICE!!!! I was next to Chanlders bike on the dyno once, she made 162 and it still had the Slick on it . Sik bike!! super jelly over here. Most people have no idea how much of a track weapon this bike is even vs. new age 1000s
yeah I can imagine. Old race bikes are the best. Thanks for watching
Great bike!
Hola ,que marca es la bomba de freno,?bonita moto y gran profesional
Brembo
Gracias
Do you use a oil catch can on your bike
I’ll ride that one while you ride the other one Russsssssssss
And the biggest 😊 I had the red and purple one. Loved it great on the winedys 👌😎
And what's the advantage with such a starterswitch ?
you don't need a key.
Brings back memories. I had a couple of those things and this video sums up what that was like. Once running properly they were sublime on track!
Thanks
If you don’t mind me asking, where did you find that steering stabilizer I’ve been looking for one for my 97 srad
just off marketplace. The Toby one on the 98 you can get on ebay, I saw a place selling them new.
Looking good mate, unfortunately my build has come to a standstill for some reason the fuel pump isn’t getting power and the bike won’t recognize when it’s in neutral, any ideas what it could be, or do you know a good bike electrical guy in Melbourne?
thank. Did you try wiggling the electrical connectors on the left hand side under the ram air scoop? It could just be corrosion in the connectors. Where in melbourne are you?
@ done on the peninsula in Rye , what’s so frustrating is that I’ve spent 2 years slowly doing this bike up, it originally started when I bought it but for some odd reason it has developed an electrical gremlin, I literally finished putting the fairings on today and it looks awesome.
Nice mate, looking and sounding great
Thanks, yeah its a blast.
Where did you get the frame covers bro
Hi, from market place I think. You might be able to find on Ebay.
Wanna sell me your old parts?
Can you use the k4 wheel instead of the srad wheel or is it too narrow?
Hi, I think the wheel will be to narrow and you would need to get spacers made up. Easier way would be to get K4 triples and top clamp. Then it will all mate up
he didnt ride kawasaki till 94
Yes also my thought.
7X7R still to this day the best 750cc sports bike built
Waiting for the onboard footage! Love to see it!
people used to buy cheap old racers (pre-2000) because they where cheap, and when you crashed on track, it wouldnt be too expensive to be replaced/repair. the new weird trend is to buy a cheap bike (like the one in the video), spend about 10-15k on parts to turn it into a full-on track bike and race it on the track... why not just buy a modern 15k bike, spend about 2-5k on track parts that will break?
@@peterthomas1079 the ride should reflect the speed... and everyone can enjoy things at his own pace.... but from the videos ive seen, this guy does NOT need these brakes, or the suspension or especially the tires warmers and track tires... regular street tires will do just fine for his riding speed...
@@peterthomas1079 I mean on track. You first take a standard bike, with road tires, and when you outgrow the brakes, you get better brakes, then you upgrade suspension... When you outgrow the tires and reach their limit, you go to slick with maybe even tire warmers... This guy does not reflect the capabilities of his bike, from the videos he's maybe at 10% capability of what the bike can do. A normaal street bike with street tires and brakes, that's where he is at. And maybe even 60% capability of that street bike. That's what I meant with, let the bike reflect the rider.
Thanks for the comment. I really like the SRAD as a platform, and tinkering on it is as much fun as riding it around. Some people just like the older bikes.
You're right on the speed, with any luck that will increase with more track time. I've taken it super slowly getting back into riding after a long time away. Goal this season is to get into the next fastest group on the track days.
@@Roostabergers that's good to hear! But seeing all the amazing parts you put on the bike, I think you are at 5-10% of what the bike can do 😅. I hope you will get higher on it. Also, you are using slicks, with tire warmers. You might have noticed that the tires have pretty good grip when you start riding out of the pits, but the grip fades over time. It will be because you aren't riding hard enough. These tires need hard riding to get and maintain temperature... So my tip is, IF you are experiencing this, just switch to a more street/track tire. Like the michelin pilot power 2ct, or the pirelli diablo rosso corsa if you become a little faster
While that’s a cool bike for sure, it absolutely is not what Anthony raced in 1993. It might possibly have some of his spare parts from 1994, but much of that bike is not what was available in 1993, from the forks to brakes, leaving aside the Attack rear sets and forged wheels. Muzzy made their own rear sets and ran three spoke Marchesini wheels. I could go on and on. Cool bike, but not much left of whatever Anthony raced while at Muzzy.
Legend! Amazing to see this cool bike!
is it only because of the rectifier? mine is gsxr 750 k8 and having this issue
Cool video mate thanks for sharing - Hello from another WOPP partner
thanks
I was racing back then...hell you could not even buy the carbs. at any price that were on muzzys bikes.
I'd like to get some one day
This is so cool. My Ducati 748 is signed “the go show” with his autograph. RIP to a talented rider
RIP Go Show. He burned as bright as a star. Buckets of talent and also some demons on board.
Blown away he was my favorite racer. He raced this bike at Daytona he was like 18 years old it was amazing and his interview about how he was just out riding around was so funny. It’s a shame his short life had so many pitfalls. Thank you for sharing this racing history brings back so many memories
yeah he was a great one that's for sure. Such a cool bike.
If this is a 93, Anthony didn’t race it at Daytona. He didn’t race the 200 in 1993
@@jasonlevitt In 1993 Gobert was racing for Honda in Australia
Thats correct didn't change to kawasaki until after he won the asbk championship in 1994 on the honda rc45,raced the 1993 asbk championship on the ole honda rc30.
