im 13 years old and i think im planning my job to early but i have thoughts on joining the military, anyone with a military experience please help me if this is a good idea for me since i'd like to serve for the U.S. and i think the military gives good pay like 1000 - 1850 dollars a month so please help me if i should join the military

Trained with the M16 in 1990 at BMT, still in and never use it, never have, deployed many times and didn't need it including tours to Iraq, Qatar, Desert Storm, OEF,OIF. We call the Army when the going gets tough lol

ive decided to go air force for security forces since my discharge from the Armys infantry back in November. I feel like this will be a cake walk im kind of excited. Not sure if ill have to do Basic again for the air force since i already did it for the army but hey this looks like fun lol

My friend is a former Marine aircraft mechanic.He went to tech school on an AF base. He admits that basically other than boot camp, he was no different than an Airman at an AF base.

If I take ROTC in college, must I do this and will I have something like this in ROTC?

We didn't get combat training in BMT in 1986. We did at the Security Police Academy (Security Forces) now. I enjoyed being a SP and also being in CE (Prime Beef and Red Horse) which also receive combat training. I did tours in Iraq and so on and saw the elephant a couple of times. In CE I received great technical training that helped me get a great job. I'm grateful to the USAF.

It's only the low self-esteem jackwads who only served one term, had menial jobs and never deployed that have to leave disparaging remarks about the Air Force. In my 12 years I worked with every branch, even had interaction with Navy seals. Not overly impressed with anyone, so fuck off.

All Im worried about is getting Fit enough to Pass my app, Ive wanted to join sense ive been 9 im 14 now, any tips? im decently fit now, But Im worried im not going to be fit enough, im starting to go to the gym whitch should help, But Im sht at maths and im a year ahead in science. im scared shitless of heights(m fine when I'm in a plane) everything else im fine at. Kinda sucks ive got to get a short hair cut but oh well. I want to become a Special Missions Aviation or a TACTICAL AIR CONTROL PARTY (TACP)

For those of you leaving those tough guy comments, there are a lot of AF jobs that don't require combat skills, but non the less are essential to the mission. However the ones that do see combat regularly like PJs. TACP, CCT, ect are highly trained and ready for combat related missions. At the end of the day no the AF guys are not out in the field to the extent that the Army/Marines are. However every job plays its role in the mission, also the Army/Marines has their share of desk jobs too.
