Can you still get this encounter as John? I never did the encounter when I was Arthur so will it still be available during epilogue?

It is even easier when you hunt legendary animals first especially the buck I think because you can get a amulet so more animals have 3 stars.

Works took a while tho your hands will sweat a lot the horse lady wouldnt spawn so i had to do this

I’m late but if you bond the horse, then fail the mission and reload the checkpoint a second horse will appear in the stable. Then you can lead them both out and ride off on the bonded horse

My favorite part about red dead challenges is once you need an item, every single other thing will be in that spot rather than what you need lol

Worked for me on the second try. You have to be super quick, sprinting towards the photographer, if the horse is located before the camera then the timing is good. If the horse already passed the camera during the cutscene then it’s too late. Go talk to the dude and skip the cutscene right away. Jump on your horse and follow the path of the horses in full sprint (it’s a linear pattern, you will see them around the woods) the hardest part for me was to jump on the horse.

Anyone else as soon as you hit chapter 2 do all the camps hunting for its decorative upgrades and the satchel stuff or is it just me I really like hunting in this game even if it is sometimes excruciating to do tho it takes forever I swear that the game reads your mind and what you need in the game and makes it nonexistent it’s total bull sometimes but also fun at times when you just need a break from all the robbing and shooting it’s a good side activity to do

I just now had an idea, You know how before you get to bonding level 1 or 2 with a new horse for you to be able to call it when you whistle? I wonder if you use your main horse and get another horse of yours from camp without a saddle. Then go and capture or get another horse only ride it and don’t bond with it so you can still call your other two horses. And ride the newer one and have your other two follow so you have a total of three horses to use carrying pelts if need be lol. Sounds extreme but hey, that’s how most good things get discovered. If anyone’s tried this lmk if it would work or not and mainly if it’s even important or useful. If it’s not needed then it wouldn’t be a factor. But if it helps. Then that would be cool.

Here's how I did it in basically one day of playing, easily accomplished in two days of playing casually. Either play in chapter 2 or wait until after the train robbery In chapter 3. Personally I prefer waiting until chapter 3 for a few reasons. #1 you will have access to deadeye manual painting the target after the train robbery. This is extremely handy for people who struggle using scoped weapons. #2 Weapons. Don't listen to all the people talking about poison Arrows and blah blah blah. You need three weapons to accomplish this, Bow, Varmit Rifle, and a Springfield/Rolling Block. The ONLY creature in this list that's mandatory to kill with the bow and small game Arrows is the squirrel. Just knock that out and put the bow away. Evey other small game for this list, rabbit, Badger, beaver, iguana, raccoon etc. Can be easily killed with one head shot with the Varmit rifle. Once you've completed the squirrel hunt, you can litteraly equip a large bore rifle and the Varmit rifle and hunt litteraly everything else without changing weapons whatsoever. Springfield and Rolling block. If you're in chapter 2, you'll be forced to use the Springfield. If you wait for chapter 3 you can get two different rolling block rifles. I highly recommend this. In chapter 3 in the mission Magicians for Hire you can grab the "Rare Rolling Block Rifle" from the sniper in the barn. You can also purchase a second Rolling Block from the gunsmith. I fully upgraded the purchased one and equipped it with the Short Scope. So the rare would have the long scope, and my built version would have a short scope. That way depending on what I'm hunting, I didn't have to worry about magnification issues. Also I used Express ammo exclusively. Regardless of range, the Rolling Block with express ammo killed every single large game creature with one single shot to the head. Aim between the eyes, or aim for the eye, and no matter what it was a one shot stop at all ranges. Including Bison and Elk and all Deer. This made hunting unbelievably easy. Often times I didn't even leave my horse. You'd be so far away from the target they wouldn't run away from you. No tracking bullshit, just binoculars and a rifle sniping headshots. Even on the Boar, Cougar, Wolf, and Panther. I highly recommend getting the Legendary Buck trinket first before starting any of this by the way. In closing, the satchel wasn't even remotely a grind like others keep saying. I wandered a bit and Hunted from horseback 90% of the time at very long ranges. It was extremely simple. If I had to cuss out one thing it would be that stupid squirrel. I hated hunting them lol.
