The best World Series pitching performance ever? Mickey Lolich’s performance in 1968 was one for the ages ⚾️ Lolich became the third pitcher in the post-1920s dead ball era to win three complete games in a single World Series. It was one of the greatest individual feats in franchise history, considering the Cardinals were defending World Series champions. Lolich, a hard-throwing lefty, gave up ...

The original FIREMAN 🔥 ⚾️ Mike Marshall Was an absolute workhorse His nickname was iron mike - and rightfully so In 1974 the 31-year-old right-hander appeared in a major-league record 106 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers, pitching 208 1/3 innings in relief. His season is unique in baseball’s long history. Nobody else has come close to 106 games, not even in the 19th century, when pitchers were...

The trainer couldnt Get Kalines jaws apart....Horton jumped in and pried open Kalines jaws
In game 7 he picked both Lou Brock and Curt Flood off at first in the 5th inning. Bad ass!!!
Excellent information, Moose was like the unknown soldier! Buried between ⭐'s
Moderate HOF credentials....
Makes me wonder what Ted's final career stats would have been had he not stopped to serve his country in both WW2, and the Korean War?
Never knew, how you like that.
Only MLB catcher to hit .300avg n 100rbis 3 consecutive seasons. I was fortunate enough to have seen Thurman play numerous times with my late father at the stadium. He was clutch n the heart of the Yankees. He belongs in the HOF.
Why Mickey Lolich is not in the Hall of Fame is beyond me
Awesome
I love this kind of history it serm to me that ole Bruce was flirting with the hall of fame 🧐💯🫡
Who's 'ol Bruce?
Thank you for this information 🍻
Thanks for watching 👍⚾️
@@BaseballPod Who do you think will be champs this year: Dodgers or Yanks? I choosed Yankees in 7.
@@risboturbide9396 I want the Yankees but just feel like the dodgers will win in 6
@@risboturbide9396Dodgers are up 3-0, so, barring a complete collapse on their part, L.A. should win in a sweep.
He’s my uncle
That’s awesome!
He was my great uncle let’s go Meyers
0:05 that baseball card. so many great memories.
Hell of a ballplayer. Manager of the last baseball dynasty. Really just a great career from start to finish.
Um, Jack Morris. 10-inning GM 7 shutout.
Matty had the greatest world series performance ever. He did this against hall of fame pitchers eddie plank, chief bender
This was the last World Series before Greedmiesterism took over with mind numbing playoffs!
Thank you
Best World Series pitching performances: A. Don Larsen no hitter B. Koufax going thru the ‘63 Yankees like shit thru a goose!
Curt Schilling's Game 5 shutout is up there. The Blue Jays were on a batting rampage before and after that game, scoring 12 and 15 runs in 3 and 4 and 8 runs in Game 6.
5️⃣🐐
Why he's not in the HOF ?
Back when being a Tiger Fan was a source of pride.
The thumb nail made it look like he was missing an arm.
In a World Series that featured two MVP's (Bob Gibson, Denny McLain), it was a third pitcher who stole the show
Don Larson.. Who are you?!
That's one game, Christy did 3 of those
@@DanielSong39 One game, three..it's all amazing. My dad got home from grade school to watch Larson pitch that game with his grandma. She wasn't pitching with Larson, but there was much buttery popcorn on a three channel black n' white TV. ..Great stories.
Dodgers scored 1 and 0 runs in the two games following. Context is important.
@@rentslave What are we saying here? Love good teams, IF they're competitors. Love a nice challenge; you can just see the motivation/dedication floating up into the air. Peace, bro.
@@rentslave ..Rent knows his stuff, folks.
And the next season Denny McClain went 31-6 with with a 1.96 ERA. for the Tigers ....Lolich and McClain, not bad huh
McClain went 31-6 in 1968 . I think Lolich won 17 games that same season.
He had some wicked sideburns, too.
Christy Mathewson 3 shutouts in 1905 World Series. 27 innings, 14 hits, no runs.
Lew Burdette did the same thing in the 1957 World Series against the Yankees-three complete games, two of them by shutout, 21 hits, and only two runs allowed (both in Game 2), and a 1.67 ERA.
I remember when he got to the Yankees in 1969. We loved him. A great Yankee and a natural.
Hoyt Wilhelm was my first favorite player when I first got into baseball, which was around 1968. That's why I became a White Sox fan, which isn't a good thing to be in 2024. I got to see him pitch in person once, in a game at Yankee Stadium when he was with the California Angels.
I had the chance to ask George how many homers he thinks he could have hit in the juiced ball era of the late 90’s. He very directly and without hesitation said 70+. That was about 10 years ago, and by the way he still had a chiseled physique and huge arms. He kept himself in great shape.
Never heard about this. That's really neat that they had a countdown clock and all
I had several of his baseball bats when I was a kid. I gave him some credit back then. Thanks for the blast from the past!!!!!
He’s my uncle
Great player and has always seemed like a very cool guy.
I have his autograph Baseball
Now I can say: “Elementary, it was Watson”
Great set of legs. He obviously spent a lot of time on conditioning.
Roberto Clemente: Once a Marine...... ALWAS A MARINE......A Damn Good baseball player......R.I.P.
Amazing Clemente ❤😊😮😢😅
Roberto Clemente 🇵🇷⚾ Top Mlb Ever on Pirate Team
For one moment, if he not died in accident, how many years and records he made?
God knows
Also one of the best arms in baseball history, definitely the greatest right fielder of all times , he holds the record for most assists as a right fielder
Imagine all them runs that have been scored and the daunting chore counting them would be.
He sucked. He went to "Big Shea", a real ballpark where it was extremly difficult to hit a HR. Just proving what I always said. That so-called "Big Red Machine" was so overrated because they played in a baby ballpark. Especially that 2nd rate catcher Johnny should of been on the Bench.
You’re goofy
@@mikelockhart5528 When he went to a real ballpark, Big Shea, his b/a went to a paltry .252 & avg. with less than 20 HRs per year.
He is one of the GOATS
Giants made a mistake getting rid of George
Both. It's a Baby Ruth. Named after the Babe. Imagine not knowing it can be named after someone and not be the exact name.
I remember getting a "Reggie" candy bar (named after Reggie Jackson) around 1977 or 1978 and hating it so much that I threw it into the bushes in front of my house.
Imagine losing a copyright case for naming something after yourself
Nothing like early 20th century corruption. 😆
🇺🇸🍕
Was Kinesiology he was trained in? I thought he save the one game the Dodgers won in the series as well?
